Chapter 16 – Reception
A visit to the Mermaid Kingdom for Princess Annemarie’s homecoming. I was worried about the princess becoming more active under the influence of the little children on the Dark Elf Island, but I was reassured by Lea-san’s assurances that everything would be fine. But during the long journey, Princess Annemarie became obsessed with magical girl anime, causing even more worry. It’s hard to take care of a child, isn’t it?
While I was marveling at the changes in the Mermaid Kingdom that I could see from afar, I saw some mermaids coming toward us from the castle gate.
They must have come to check on us because a strange vehicle was approaching the land.
“Princess Annemarie, Lea-san, please show yourselves, as there are soldiers coming from the castle gate to confirm our identities.”
I could use my guild card to prove my identity, but since the princess was accompanying me, this would be faster.
“I understand. Leave it to me.”
Princess Annemarie, your answer is wonderful, but why are you so excited to take out your magic staff? This glittering staff is not needed right now, is it?
While I was puzzled, the mermaid soldiers approached us with their spears at the ready, and I pointed from the cockpit to the window where Princess Annemarie was standing.

Just as the soldiers look in the window, Princess Annemarie strikes a pose.

First of all, why is being a princess a disguise? And wouldn’t it be a disservice to the magical girl industry if a magical girl revealed her true identity with all her might?
I also felt sorry for the soldiers who were shocked to see their country’s princess in full cosplay, and I also felt doubtful about Lea-san, who had probably thought up the poses and lines with her instead of stopping her, wondering if an evil minister could be a person like Lea-san.
And sadly, the other members of the group were happy to see her, saying she was cute and determined, and I began to wonder if my reaction was correct.
In the midst of all this, the most splendidly equipped of the soldiers who came to check on us, or rather the mermaid, after giving some instructions to a mermaid who must be his subordinate, comes around to the cockpit and makes a gesture to stop the White Dolphin.
He seems to be saying something, but I can’t hear his voice. That means that Princess Annemarie’s line was not heard over there. I felt a little relieved.
I stopped the submarine and pointed to the entrance to listen to the conversation.
“I was expecting it, but it was Wataru-sama, wasn’t it? We are currently sending a messenger to Her Majesty and informing the people of the situation, so please wait a moment.”
As I opened the door of the White Dolphin, the soldier in charge called out to me.
It seems that the voice can be heard when it is not inside the ship. However, even though it was blocked by the barrier, it was still a terrible feeling of discomfort that the entire outer surface of the ship was the sea.
But what worried me more was that the soldier seemed to be in a hurry. It seems that I caused them trouble by coming out of the blue.

Even when we were diving, sea monsters usually came close to us, and I felt that the sea was more dangerous than the land.

After a short wait, more mermaids are dispatched from the castle gate and swim to lead the White Dolphin.
Apparently, we are allowed to proceed.
As we followed the lead and walked through the gate, countless mermaids lined both sides of the street, waving at us.
It was just like the emperor’s visit. Princess Annemarie, even though she is covered in magical girls, she is still a princess.
It’s a bit like a parade, which I don’t like, but it’s hard for me to complain since the mermaids seem to have gathered spontaneously.

I stopped the White Dolphin, hurriedly finished my preparations, and headed for the exit.
