Chapter 11 – Apology, Completion

I summoned the houseboat and proudly introduced monjayaki… but they thought I was playing around with the ingredients to make monjayaki. They also didn’t like the way the finished monjayaki looked, so at first, they refused to eat it. But after a lot of things happened, mainly thanks to Carla-san and Claretta-san, monjayaki was accepted.

“Oh no, the cabbage burst!”

“If I don’t eat this and just grill it, will it all burn?”

“It’s a snack, but it’s delicious.”

The inside of the houseboat is filled with the happy voices of the beautiful women.

Yes, this is the scene I imagined. I didn’t expect it to take so long to get to this scene, but I’m satisfied just to have seen it.

I was also quietly happy that there was a wide variety of cheap sweets monjayaki on the menu, and some snacks that I couldn’t get on the ferry were mixed in.

I was usually impressed because they were sweets that I liked.

“Wataru, I like those rice cakes called mochi.”

While I was thinking about which cheap sweets to take home, Carla-san came up to me and started chatting happily.

I see; she likes mochi.

But mochi as a topping for monjayaki is a different feeling from the original mochi.

It’s not a big deal, but I’d like her to experience the taste of the basic mochi as well.

“Then would you like to try eating mochi by itself?”

“Yes!”

As I expected, she nodded with a smile, so we headed for the kitchen on the houseboat.

The facilities were better than I expected. I was grateful because I had thought that most of the ingredients would be prepared on land and only the cooking would be done on the boat.

I was able to get not only the mochi cut into small pieces for monja but also regular square mochi. I was also able to look at the various packaged sweets, so I couldn’t help but smile.

But for now, it’s mochi.

There are different ingredients, so I’ll make all the basic and easy ones.

First, let’s have some grilled mochi with soy sauce and nori seaweed. Next… grated daikon radish. The refreshing flavor and spiciness of grated daikon radish go perfectly with mochi.

After that, I think I’ll skip the sugar soy sauce and natto. They’re delicious, but in another world, they’re a menu item for advanced eaters.

Then there’s red bean paste mochi and kinako mochi.

Like the cheap sweets, another great ingredient found on a houseboat is red bean paste.

I was wondering why there was red bean paste on the houseboat, but to my surprise, there was a dessert monja category.

I didn’t know about it either, so I was surprised to see it on the houseboat menu.

I’ve had monjayaki in Japan before, but I wonder if this restaurant also had dessert monjayaki?

Sweet monjayaki… It’s not impossible because it seems that the early monjayaki was sweet, but it’s hard to imagine the taste. I want to try it as a dessert to finish the meal, but I’m also a little scared.

“Wataru, it’s starting to rise!”

It seems that the mochi we grilled while preparing the toppings was ready.

It’s also cute that not only Carla-san but also the Slime Group and Pent are all so interested in the mochi.

I wanted to make some red bean soup, but well, it would overlap with the red bean paste mochi, so I guess it’ll be fine for next time. It would also be delicious if I added some ice cream, but that’ll have to wait for next time, too.

When we returned to the banquet hall with lots of mochi and toppings, the women who had noticed our actions gathered around.

After being fascinated by monja, will they be fascinated by mochi next?

Ah, thinking about mochi makes me want to eat ozoni*. I’ll do that when I have room in my stomach. [T/n: Soup with mochi and vegetables.]

***

I didn’t make it to dessert monjayaki.

Even though we shared, I had eaten quite a lot of monjayaki and tried the mochi, so there was no room in my stomach for dessert monjayaki.

They say there’s always room for dessert, but I’m a man, and I’d also had the sweet red bean paste mochi and kinako mochi, so I was incredibly full.

Or rather, the monja was finished with mochi.

Well, the women were quite happy with it, so I guess it was a good ending.

The lively women wanted to go to the sea as soon as they finished eating, but I stopped them.

I don’t know if there’s such a thing as drunk driving on a yacht, but obviously, strenuous exercise is out of the question when you’ve had a few drinks.

With that, I made my way to the women relaxing on the tatami mats.

It was finally time to finish my apology. I was nervous.

“Well, ladies, I’m really sorry about the other day. I don’t know if this will make up for it, but I hope you enjoyed yourselves today.”

“Fufu. I told you there was no need to apologize. But I really enjoyed myself today. Thank you, Wataru.”

Alessia-san thanked me for my apology. The other women also thanked me and offered their forgiveness.

I think I’m falling in love with their kindness.

But Ines, you’re out.

Girasole and Felicia are the ones I apologize to, but I think the sexual harassment of Ines is a bit unfair. In my opinion, it’s 50 50.

So stop looking down on me like you’re doing me a favor. It’s not enough to get the casino money by flattering me and then melting it away in an instant.

Well, whatever. Right now, I should concentrate on what’s in front of me, not on Ines.

“Thank you. By the way, I’ve prepared gifts of apology for Ilma and Claretta, to whom I caused particular trouble. Please accept them.”

To be honest, I was afraid to treat them especially, but since I had done something particularly wrong to them, it would be absurd to treat them the same as the other members, so in the end, I decided to apologize to them.

“First of all, Ilma. Here you go.”

“Thank you. What is it… a translation voucher?”

“Yes. This ticket will help you translate the materials you want in one hour.”

Yes, it’s a ticket. I could easily think of an excuse for Claretta-san, but I couldn’t think of one for Ilma-san.

Ilma-san is a very sexy woman, but she’s also a surprisingly sensible person outside of her research.

So I thought I’d give her something related to her research, but since we’ve always been together, she already has things she wants.

So after a lot of thought, I came up with the idea of a translation voucher. I thought I should take advantage of the fact that the thing Ilma-san wanted the most from me was when I translated the Duke’s diary.

Well, the idea was the same as the “shoulder massage coupon,” so I spent about an hour wondering if this was the right thing to give to an attractive woman, but I came to the conclusion that the best thing to do was to give her something that would make her happy.

Besides, a woman as beautiful as Ilma-san probably gets a lot of gifts, so something like jewelry wouldn’t make her happy.

And even though it looks shabby, I think it’s a card with tremendous value. Because even if the characters aren’t deciphered, you can still read them.

Even the Rosetta Stone can be read at a level so slurred that even Champollion-san will have to apologize for it, so it may not even be impossible to make history… depending on how it is used. [T/n: You can Google it :P]

Unfortunately, I can’t say for sure because my knowledge of history is still weak.

“Fufufu, you’ve given me a wonderful gift. Thank you, Wataru, I’m grateful.”

Ilma-san seemed to realize its value immediately, and she expressed her gratitude with a 30% increase in sexiness.

Well, it’s more of an apology gift than a normal gift.

I think my popularity has gone up a lot.

“Next is Claretta. Please accept this.”

“I had a lot of fun, too, so there’s no need to apologize…”

Claretta-san does not accept the apology gift.

That may be true from Claretta-san’s point of view, but I’ve already said that I want to be embraced by her abundant motherly love, so I can’t settle down unless I show her my sincerity.

“Claretta, please accept. Wataru, you’ve had enough, so that’s the end of the apology.”

No, no, no, I resist Claretta-san’s hesitation, and then Alessia-san follows. She really is like a leader in these situations. She’s very helpful.

“Yeah, I’m going to stop dragging this out because it’s more trouble than it’s worth.”

But well, it’s become a dark story, so even if you try not to drag it out, I’m sure I’m going to suffer when I remember it.

With Alessia-san’s help, Claretta-san accepts the gift of apology.

“W-why is it that something so expensive makes me feel like I’m being wrapped in kindness…”

Claretta-san is a little confused by the expensive gift, but if you think of it as a settlement payment, it’s an appropriate gift. Still, Claretta-san is astonished.

The God of Light said that it was just a small blessing and that it would not have any effect like a blessing, but it seems that Claretta-san is able to feel that small blessing.

“I asked the God of Light-sama to help me make up for it in some way. But it wasn’t a blessing that would have any effect; it was just something that the God of Light-sama knew about the pendant.”

The fact that she can tell the difference just by being aware of it shows that Claretta-san’s faith is genuine. I also have faith in the God of Light-sama, but I don’t understand the difference between the pendants at all.

“Oh, it’s a miracle that I was able to receive her blessing, but to receive something so wonderful… Wataru, thank you.”

Claretta-san looked at me with moist eyes, carefully holding the pendant and its case in her hands.

If I were looked at with that expression in a normal situation, I would definitely be able to tell that she was in love with me, but I wonder what it would be like in this situation?

“Since you’re here, why don’t you put it on Wataru?”

Even though this was a place to apologize, I was thinking of something inappropriate when Ilma-san made a happy and embarrassing suggestion.

I looked at Ilma-san in surprise, and she gave me a sexy wink. I think she liked the translation coupon, so she thanked me for it. Thank you.

“B- but it would be too much of an honor for me to wear a pendant blessed by the God of Light-sama.”

What? A happy, embarrassing event cancellation? I won’t let that happen. I won’t let Ilma-san’s help go to waste.

“I received a blessing for the pendant as a gift for Claretta. I understand that the God of Light-sama would naturally wear it as well.”

“Is that so? Well, yes. …Wataru, can you do it?”

“Of course.”

…This is what it means to be overwhelmed with emotion.

Claretta-san’s neck was wonderful.

Also, I won’t say where the diamond pendant is, but it was on.

“What? You’re going to put that pendant in your clothes when it’s so beautiful?”

“It is not appropriate to wear a pendant with a priest’s robe. But now I can always feel the God of Light-sama with me. Thank you, Wataru.”

“No, I’m relieved that you’re happy with it.”

…Does this mean that the pendant I gave her is now held between her motherly love?

Why is that? I’m beginning to feel jealous of the pendant I gave her.
