Chapter 12 – Hilltop Village Walk
As an apology for the sexual harassment of the ladies, I gave them a flying yacht, a monjayaki, and to Ilma-san and Claretta-san, who I had caused particular trouble with, I gave them a translation voucher and a pendant with the blessing of the God of Light-sama. It will be black history, but this will end the apology.
“It has become a peaceful village, hasn’t it?”
“Yes. Everyone lives happily. Thanks to you, Master.”
“Haha, thank you.”
I accept Felicia’s praise without hesitation. I could be modest, but my contribution to the construction of this village was quite large, so it would be sarcastic to be modest.
Since we were on Dark Elf Island, I decided to take Felicia for a leisurely walk around the hilltop village for the first time in a while.
Well, the reason I thought of a walk was because the women were so engrossed in sailing that they didn’t want to pay any attention to me.
It’s not that they ignore me; they invite me to play with them on the yacht, but… to be honest, I can’t keep up with the women who play every day as if they were absorbing sailing techniques.
They look gorgeous in their swimsuits, but the difference in mentality between the athletic and the non-athletic is so obvious that it’s hard to believe they’re the same race. Well, actually, there are members of different races, or rather, I’m from a different world.
Why are these people so enthusiastic? They’re working as hard as high school baseball players who want to play in the Koshien Tournament. [T/n: It is an annual nationwide high school baseball tournament. It is the largest amateur sports event in Japan].
…Well, it’s good. It’s certainly a blessing to see beautiful women frolicking in their swimsuits, but for now, let’s enjoy the Dark Elf Village.
I visit it from time to time, but if you take the time to look around, you can really see the difference.
Outside the village, there are fields, and compared to when it was first settled, the landscape has completely changed.
Of course, the inside of the village has changed as well.
The roads are not cobblestone, but they are well-filled, and ditches have been dug on both sides to improve drainage.
The houses that stand around the area are not luxurious, but they have been changed to a solid structure, and flower beds have been made to make them more colorful.
Not all the houses have been rebuilt like this, but they will probably be rebuilt gradually, and one day they will all be like this.
Or rather, I can’t help but think that if they hadn’t built such a magnificent building for the shop, all the houses would be like this by now.
That building has been expanded and remodeled so much that it’s hard to believe that it was originally a candy and general goods store.
Even without doing anything, it’s more magnificent than the village chief’s house.
I guess the dark elves were that demanding.
“Still, there are quite a few mermaids running around.”
I’ve seen fairies flying around as messengers for pocket money, but I think there are more mermaids now. I don’t think I saw so many in the village before.
“Fufu, it’s because Princess Annemarie has made friends with the village children. It seems that they were gradually becoming friends before, but thanks to the princess and the children, their relationship has progressed quickly.”
Ah, I see. So it’s like the children became friends in the park, and then the parents became friends, too.
The dark elves and mermaids were in hiding, so they were careful about making contact.
But still, when I look at it again, it’s really a fantasy.
A peaceful rural village… That’s nice, but the inhabitants are dark elves, and there’s also a lot of fairies flying around and mermaids coming to play.
Strong. How can I put it? It’s really strong. The polka dot pattern is as strong as the concentrate of the famous lactic acid drink.
The concept was supposed to be an island where dark elves could live in peace without being targeted, but how did it end up like this?
“Hmm? They’re building something in the square, but what are they building?”
The village’s central square is kept clean and tidy because it is also used for banquets. When we first started building the village, we even had bonfires in this square. It hasn’t been that long, but it seems like a long time ago when I think about it.
“Oh, they’re building a shop at the edge of the square.”
“A shop?”
“Yes, I told them there are shops in the town square.”
Felicia is unusually proud of herself. She’s so cute. Anyway, shops?
It’s true that there are often shops and stalls in the town square. If that’s the case, I guess a stall would be fine, but if there’s no need to move around like in the city, then a shop might be more convenient.
“But what will they sell?”
To be honest, there isn’t much to sell on this island. As far as I can see, there are about three shops being built.
“Like the general store, people who want to do business will take turns using the space. The mermaids are also on the schedule. They’ll sell seafood dishes.”
When I think of it, the general store also uses the space on a rotating basis. Seafood dishes made by mermaids—just the words make it sound delicious.
Most of the reasons for visiting the island were for Felicia, but it’s nice to know there are other things to look forward to besides the hot springs.
“Ah, it’s Wataru!”
“Give me something!”
“Something tasty, something tasty!”
While I was smiling at the thought of the future, I was discovered by the naughty children. The peaceful time I had with Felicia was instantly destroyed.
Or rather, the noise level was annoying because the fairies were also making a racket, even though the brats were noisy enough on their own.
I wondered why they were together, but the answer is simple, they probably got along well. They should have fought each other out of self-loathing.
“Buy it with your own pocket money. What do you think I am, a candy store?”
I learned that if I go easy on the naughty kids and fairies, there’s no end to it.
“Of course, we don’t have an allowance. We don’t have enough!”
“That’s right, we don’t have enough!”
“Not enough, not enough.”
“It’s only natural that pocket money is not enough for children. What’s important is how you get your allowance. Go and help around the house and then ask for your allowance.”
My impression is that about 90% of the children feel that their allowance is not enough. But I think that’s a healthy attitude.
I think it’s unhealthy to have a wealthy lifestyle where you have more than enough allowance from a young age. But I’m envious. I’m very envious.
“There is not much work to do around the house. Don’t say things like that.”
“Don’t say that!”
“I want to eat something. I want to eat something.”
My suggestion was rejected out of hand by the naughty children. Apparently, there aren’t many jobs that pay them pocket money.
Come to think of it, that’s probably only natural. I’m sure the adults don’t want to give them pocket money either, but it would be difficult to find work for all the children and fairies every day.
Besides, I don’t think the adults have enough money either. Alcohol and beauty products are very popular.
For now, I should make the adults think for themselves and prepare some work for the children and fairies.
But what kind of work can I give the children and fairies?
…Okay, I’ll give up. I can’t think of any jobs for the children and fairies. If I need something like a side job, I’ll have them do it.
Also, fairy dust is an item in the game, right? Can I buy it? I’ll look into that later.
“There’s no choice. Here, one each.”
I give up and take some sweets out of my bag to drive away the naughty kids.
“Eh, sweets. Don’t you have anything else?”
Almiro expresses his dissatisfaction openly. He’s not very sweet. When I think that even such a naughty child will surely become handsome in the future, it’s so unreasonable that I want to cry.
“Don’t be so picky. If you don’t like it, I won’t give it to you. Besides, I don’t have anything else right now, so there’s nothing I can do, even if you complain.”
Right now, the summoning limit is full with the castle and four yachts. It’s a miracle I even have the sweets.
The naughty children and the fairies have taken all my sweets. Even so, there wasn’t enough for everyone, so now there’s a fight between the bad kids and the fairies over the sweets.
Before long, the naughty children are in trouble with the adults. It’s childish, but I can’t help but find it a little satisfying. I guess this is what they call ‘reaping what you sow.’
I leave the naughty children alone and continue my walk with Felicia.
There’s not much left to see. The main attraction of this village is the general store, but I don’t need to go there because I deliver the products.
Well, that’s fine because it’s fun just to walk around with Felicia at a leisurely pace.

“Hey Ilma, do you think fairy dust is worth anything?”
As I expected, I was scolded by the adults, but that aside, I’m curious if fairy dust is worth anything.
“The value of fairy dust? Yes, it’s valuable. It’s used as a catalyst for hallucinatory magic, and it’s also one of the ingredients in aphrodisiacs, so it trades at a fairly high price. Well, it’s not in circulation because it’s not easy to find fairies.”
Pardon?
Didn’t something wonderful and forbidden come up?
Huh? What am I supposed to do? I’m really interested.
“Ara, Wataru, you’re thinking of something bad.”
“What are you talking about?
I might have been found out, but I can’t admit it so openly: I’m very interested in aphrodisiacs.
“Well, never mind. What’s the matter?”
Since she seems to have let it go, I take her up on her offer and ask her about making some pocket money for fairies.
“I see, but you shouldn’t use fairy dust to make money. You know why, right?”
“I know.”
I don’t think all uses are bad, but when it comes to hallucinatory magic and aphrodisiacs, I feel like they’re often used for evil purposes.
Still, the way they use a fantasy item like fairy dust in a practical way is… well, it’s weird, but when I think of those fairies who can control hallucinations and are cute just to look at, it kind of feels like a perfect fit.
“Hmm? Oh, by the way, did Ilma ever get her hands on some fairy dust?”
If I remember correctly, it was Ilma who discovered traces of fairies in the Lost Forest, or rather the mountain and turned into a mad scientist with a higher level of excitement than ever before.
It’s hard to imagine that she didn’t get it, even though she could have easily contacted them.
“Of course, I got it through bargaining.”
“So the aphrodisiac too?”
I know I shouldn’t ask, but I can’t help it.
Ilma-san looks at me with a very attractive smile. I see a crazy hallucination behind her smile.
This is it, I shouldn’t ask.
Not only does she make hallucinatory magic catalysts, but she also makes aphrodisiacs.
An aphrodisiac made of fairy dust… I wonder what effect it will have? I’m really curious.
