Chapter 2 – Saporabi Enjoying Their Vacation
After returning to the Beastman City and reuniting with Marina-san and Camille-san, I couldn’t help but worry about Saporabi, so I decided to go back to the open sea. After granting Saporabi a vacation that included permission to eat and drink, their emotional expressions, including their movements, became more vibrant, and even I, who had always felt uneasy around them, was moved. As Saporabi’s vacation began, I couldn’t help but feel a little uneasy about the impact their actions might have on me.
“They’re pretty free to do whatever they want, aren’t they?”
“Yes, and the Saporabis mostly hang out in the free areas. What will they do with the pocket money they get?”
As Ines said, the Saporabis have fun together without going anywhere that costs money. Maybe they’re just warming up since it’s still early in their vacation?
“Well, I gave them their pocket money, so it’s theirs to keep.”
I’m afraid they’ll rebel if I try to take it back. I feel like I’m thinking like a dictator.
“Hmm.”
“Hey, Ines, you’re not thinking of asking the Saporabis for money, are you?”
What are you thinking about?
“No, I was just thinking about it. That would be too pathetic.”
You thought about it a little. But, well, you decided not to do it, so let’s just say it’s okay.
“Anyway, Felicia is acting like a child.”
She blatantly changed the subject, but I decided to go along with it since I gave her a pass.
“Yeah, she said she liked rabbits, but she really loved them, didn’t she?”
I wonder why she never told us before.
Felicia is such a serious person; she probably thought it would be wrong to burden me with her feelings.
Now she’s telling us how she really feels, and she’s having fun with Saporabis.
I’m a little touched that she opened up to us like that.
The serious Felicia has served me with all her heart, but it would be better for both of us if she could enjoy herself and serve me in a better environment.
And then there’s Rimu and Pent.
Before, they didn’t show much interest in the Saporabi, who didn’t respond much, but now the Saporabi respond well, so they have fun playing with them.
I feel very lonely.
Felicia is also absorbed in the Saporabi, and Ines isn’t uninterested either. I feel that I’m becoming mentally isolated.
Well, it’s only on occasional vacations, so I guess I can tolerate it a little.
Still, the Saporabis’ actions are unwavering.
Maybe they have some information about the ship installed for support.
Based on this information, they are moving to areas that interest them.
Some Saporabis focus on eating, some on sweets, some on drinking, and some on playing in the pool.
Perhaps because they have different souls, they each have their own preferences and act independently.
Nevertheless, rabbits eating and drinking are quite interesting to watch.
Of course, they look like fairytale characters, but even with their exaggerated features, their mouths aren’t that big, and they munch on meat and vegetables and gulp down drinks.
They don’t seem to mind, but from the outside, it looks pretty tough.
Also, maybe because they’ve become Saporabi, their monster nature has faded, and it seems that more of them prefer vegetables to meat.
They do eat meat, but the salad bar is very popular.
Seeing them like this, I’m beginning to think that there’s no need to be so wary of Saporabi.
They weren’t supposed to be dangerous in the first place, and I was just being cautious out of guilt, so seeing them show emotion made me feel a little more at ease.
Normally, Saporabi is rabbit-like and basically emotionless, so it was even scarier because I couldn’t read their feelings.
It’s all Creator God-sama’s fault.
I said I wanted an attendant that I liked, so I wish he had made them bunny girls instead of Saporabi.
Then… right?
“Master, look at those kids!”
“Huh? Nothing out of the ordinary as far as I can tell.”
I looked where Ines told me to, but the Saporabis were just playing in the pool. They looked like they were having fun. Do rabbits usually like water?
“We’re a little late. Oh, they’re starting to move. Keep an eye on them.”
I didn’t really understand, but I watched the Saporabis as Ines told me to.
Over there is a water slide…
“I see, that’s kind of interesting.”
“Right? I was surprised when I suddenly noticed it, but they are pretty cute, aren’t they?”
What Ines liked was the sight of the Saporabi sliding down the water slide. They didn’t just slide down normally, but about ten Saporabi formed a train and slid down together.
They weren’t doing any weird poses, just sliding down in a tight line, but the fact that they were fluffy Saporabi made it strangely charming.
Also, the fur of the Saporabis is very strange. Even when they’re submerged in the pool, their fur stays fluffy even when it gets wet.
Could their fur be waterproof?
And… how do you count Saporabi? Rabbits have ears, but Saporabi seems a bit different… Well, ears will do.
“So, Master, what do we do now? These little ones don’t seem to need any help.”
That’s true. Maybe because they usually live on the luxury liner, they don’t make any unnecessary noise, don’t seem to be confused by anything, and are just enjoying their vacation as usual.
Compared to the Mini-Creator Gods, they’re about a hundred times easier to take care of.
“Yeah, let’s just relax here.”
The Saporabis will be fine on their own. It’s a little different from what I imagined, but I can’t complain since it’s so easy.
***
“Hmm? A knock?”
There’s no doubt that it’s a knock because I can hear the sound of someone knocking on the door, but in the current situation, it feels very strange.
Everyone is in the room: Ines, Felicia, Rimu, Pent and me. And besides us, the only other person on this ship is Saporabi.
Under normal circumstances, I would suspect that something horrible is happening, but it’s probably just Saporabi coming to see us. I guess this is what happens when you give them time off.
“Master, the Saporabi are here. Can I let them in?”
While I was wondering, Felicia opened the door and checked who it was.
I was a little scared, so I was relieved.
“Yes, let them in.”
When I gave my permission, three Saporabis came in. It was more than I expected.
“Um, welcome. What’s going on? Oh, sit down.”
I offered the sofa to the Saporabis.
“Puu.”
The Saporabis bowed their heads slightly, jumped onto the sofa, and sat down. Saporabis, who are about two to three heads tall, have such short legs that they sit like that. I didn’t know that before.
“So, what’s going on?”
“Puu.”
When I asked again, the Saporabi sitting in the middle began to lay out papers in front of me.
…These are copy papers, right? And the text is clearly printed. Did they use the computer in the office? And they even printed them out?
What’s going on here? Are the Saporabi using Earth’s advanced technology?
Wait… this is the script of this world, isn’t it?
I use a computer occasionally, but I thought the only language available was Earth’s… Did they install this language?
…Huh? You can use a computer, but you shouldn’t be able to connect to the Internet… Where did they get that information? I wish you would stop trying to turn this into a horror story.
Also, thanks to language comprehension, I can read writing in this world, too, but there’s no need to use writing in this world. Japanese is fine, right?
If they’re so good with computers, they must understand Japanese, right?
Also… I don’t know how, but one thing I do know is that Saporabi is definitely more computer-savvy than I am.
Because there are graphs next to the text and tables with numbers in boxes.
You can only do that if you know how to use spreadsheets, right?
I had a computer in Japan, but I couldn’t use it and never thought to try to learn about it. My major in college was completely different…
I’m really confused right now.
Did I lose to Saporabi? I don’t want to say this about myself, but I have relatively low self-esteem.
If something is fun, easy, and doesn’t get me in trouble, I can swallow my pride.
But I don’t know how to swallow this.
Losing to a rabbit mascot from another world in computer skills?
Isn’t that a problem beyond pride?
“Puu.”
“Oh, right; you mean I should read it instead of just looking at it? Got it.”
That’s not good. I’m supposed to be the one in charge, but I’m just blurting things out. Is that what they call the difference in intelligence?
If that’s how it’s going to be, it would have been better if Saporabi had rebelled against me.
“Puu.”
“Oh, right, I’ll read it right away.”
I’ve never worked before, but I guess this is what it feels like to have a younger boss.
Um, what was it again? How to use Saporabi effectively?
Could it be that they’re unhappy with the impersonal way Saporabi has been used so far and have come to promote themselves?
I don’t like aggressive people pushing themselves on me. Even if they’re not people.
I look through the documents with a slightly negative feeling.
A list of what Saporabi can and cannot do.
Huh? Saporabi can support that, too? Oh, so it can’t do that. I see; it can’t do things that are physically impossible.
Hmm… Hmm… It’s written in great detail, and I can’t say that I understand it all, but I’m sure of one thing.
I don’t use even a tenth of what Saporabi can do.
However, many of those features aren’t really necessary on the luxury liner we’re using. We’re just a few members enjoying a leisurely cruise…
“I see; that’s why they wrote the documents in this world’s language.”
I understand what Saporabi’s purpose is. They’re not trying to promote themselves to me but to Camille-san.
It makes sense that they came to ask for permission.
Probably, even when my consciousness wasn’t clear, I felt bored. If that’s the case, maybe I should think about things too.
There are a lot of abilities I don’t need, but there are also a few that I do. I only wanted to give the Saporabi a reward and a bribe, but the conversation took an unexpected turn.
