Chapter 1059: Higher Consciousness

Kyle took a deep breath as he felt the power of his new existence.

'I fulfill all the requirements for a Supreme Existence,' Kyle thought. 'I'm just missing the necessary amount of Energy. My Aspects have already fused. There are no more bottlenecks. If I wanted to, I could absorb Energy without end and keep advancing.'

'I'm still a Spirit Lord, but only in name. The amount of Energy I have access to hasn't changed.'

'Yet, the quality is on a completely different level,' Kyle thought as he clenched his right fist.

BOOOM!

The Primordial Forces around him were thrown into chaos. Space was stretching to its limits, but it still held together.

'Even as a mere Spirit Lord, I can already push space to its limits, but that's not surprising. If you have enough mass, you can create a massive black hole, but you can also make one by compressing the mass of an apple until its volume is just a tiny spot.'

'This is the difference between an Ascendant and an Immortal. My Aspects are no longer separated. In the past, I couldn't imagine how you could fuse your four Aspects. After all, how can you fuse your mind with your body? How would that even work?'

Kyle grinned as he perceived the insides of his body.

First of all, there were no organs anymore. There was no liver, spleen, lungs, intestines, stomach, heart, or even a brain. Instead, there were countless small whirlpools of Energy. These whirlpools pulled in a tremendous amount of Energy from the outside, which streamed through Kyle's entire body.

Yet, these were only the big whirlpools. There were also countless tiny whirlpools, which existed all over Kyle's body. These tiny whirlpools transported Kyle's Energy throughout his body, keeping his existence alive.

There was no centralized place where Kyle kept his Energy. Instead, his Energy was evenly spread across his entire body. This meant that he had lost his Center as a weakness. Now, if someone rammed their spear through his torso, he wouldn't immediately die.

Kyle also noticed that the Energies inside his body were emulating the way Energy moved when a thought was formed. Or, more precisely, this was how a thought was actually formed. It was the brain that had emulated the way Energy moved when a thought was formed.

Consciousness. People believed that they were conscious, but they were not truly conscious. Their consciousness was a mere imitation of what a true consciousness was supposed to be.

The concept of consciousness was fiercely debated amongst philosophers, which was why there was no true answer for the question of what consciousness was. Was a human conscious? Most likely. Was a dog conscious? Probably. Was a fly conscious? Possibly. Was a single-celled organism conscious? Probably not. Was a virus conscious? Most likely not. Was a stone conscious? Almost definitely not.

Why were there these distinctions? Why did people disagree on what was conscious and what was not? It's because there were different levels of consciousness, and Kyle had advanced a level.

A normal human's consciousness only existed in their brain. Their consciousness was just a gathering of neurons that defined themselves. Their body was not part of their consciousness. It was just a meat machine that kept them alive. Without a very specific set of circumstances, a human's consciousness would collapse.

It needed oxygen, fats, proteins, vitamins, protection, stability, and so on. If one looked at it, one might see some similarities to what humanity needed to keep astronauts alive.

When astronauts went to space, they also needed all kinds of machines and safety mechanisms to stay alive. Oxygen filter, radiation protection, an artificial atmosphere, and so on.

Why was it like that?

Because they were not supposed to naturally exist in this state. Humans were supposed to be on planets, not in space, and in the same sense, consciousness was supposed to work with the most fundamental of forces, Energy. Using biological electricity to send signals from one neuron to another was a mere simulation of consciousness.

Kyle could feel his entire existence thinking. He could feel the surroundings like they were his body. His consciousness didn't need all of these fancy things that a human's brain needed.

He just needed Energy, and this Cosmos was made of nothing but Energy.

As his perception stretched into the distance, he could feel things he had never felt before. It was hard to describe since a normal human couldn't experience these things. It was like describing a color to a blind person.

The best way to describe it was that the surroundings experienced emotions as they existed. When a Fire Elemental destroyed a Water Elemental, the surroundings felt something. They consciously experienced reality, but in a very subconscious way.

Emotions were created in reality, but there was nothing that could accept them. It was like the age-old question: When a tree falls over inside a forest, does it make a sound?

While the original question was not meant to be a philosophical but physical one, it had still transformed into a philosophical one. These created emotions existed, but nothing could feel them. Only when a Supreme Existence was close could these emotions be experienced.

'I feel like I've lived my entire life with my eyes closed,' Kyle thought. 'I've never thought that the world would be so... alive. I've never thought that emotions are an actual physical thing. In hindsight, it's actually obvious. Everything is Energy but in different forms. Since emotions are something, they have to be made of Energy as well.'

As Kyle looked at the Elementals, he found the answer to a question he had never asked himself.

'Why do different Elements give different emotions to their users? Why do you get super angry when you create an Infused Mind Law with fire?'

'It's because Energy has emotions, and when you infuse certain kinds of Energy into your mind, your consciousness is translating the emotions of the Energy into something you can understand.'

'Yet, the translation is so very different from the original. Your brain is practically trying to summarize an entire research paper in only two words. You can't possibly display the complexity of the research paper with just two words. Your brain summarizes the entire thing and just goes with the most-repeated Energy fluctuations.'

'For fire, that's anger. For wind, it's carefreeness. Yet, all of the Elements have the same emotions, just in different forms and with different values. They exist. They have emotions, but these emotions are still very different from what a human would call emotions. It's like saying the most similar sensation to touch is smell or taste. Yeah, they're more similar than sound or sight, but they are still so very different.'

For a while, Kyle just mused about reality. The new things he could see returned the feeling of innocent magic to the world.
