Chapter 1149: Lost Spark

The Immortal was a younger but pretty tall woman with black hair. An Immortal's appearance didn't reflect their age, since they had infinite longevity. Most of the time, an Immortal's perceived age directly reflected how old they felt. Immortals who still had hopes and dreams often looked younger, since youth was associated with motivation, ambition, and energy. Complacency and acceptance were associated with older ages. If an Immortal had many responsibilities, they often looked older.

Kyle looked like he was in his twenties, while Sebastian looked like he was in his late thirties. The Immortal in front of them looked to be in her twenties.

Kyle approached her because of her young appearance and her negative Karmic Luck. Entering the Immortal Dimension without a Minor Hero Aura was dangerous, but despite her negative Karmic Luck, she still seemed to want to achieve something.

"Not interested," she answered, annoyed.

"We just want to know a bit more about the Immortal Dimension," Kyle transmitted. "Everyone's dancing around the topic. We just want to know a bit more about it before we advance."

The Immortal looked at Kyle and Sebastian for a moment, annoyed and bored. "Just ask your backer."

"We don't have backers," Sebastian answered. "We're completely unaffiliated. We're only citizens of the Wargod's Peak, and that's it."

"Then, go find a backer," the Immortal answered, annoyed. "Entering the Immortal Dimension without a backer is suicidal and foolish."

"Everyone's saying that, but they never say why it's dangerous," Kyle replied. "We want to know why it's dangerous."

"Why do you care?" she asked, snorting. "In the end, you will join another Organization anyway. At that point, you will get all of the information you want. Why delay the inevitable?"

"Well, we plan to make our own Organization in the Immortal Dimension," Kyle transmitted.

The Immortal looked at Kyle with a mixed expression of annoyance and apathy. "If that's so, I will accept your trade. Since you don't want to live anymore, you might as well give me your valuables."

During the conversation, Kyle constantly tracked the flow of Karmic Luck between the Immortal and him. The Karmic Luck between them barely changed, but Kyle noticed subtle color shifts at different points in the conversation. Just by watching the flow, he could already make educated guesses about why the Immortal was here.

"I appreciate the offer, but we're not willing to pay that much," Kyle answered. "Since you don't seem to be interested in earning some easy resources or Karmic Luck, we won't bother you further. Goodbye."

Kyle and Sebastian nodded at each other, then turned around. When the Immortal saw that, she took a deep breath.

"Fine," she transmitted. "I see what you're trying to do, and even though I don't enjoy being the target of manipulation, I have to admit that I've acted against my best interest."

Kyle and Sebastian turned around, smiling. "You're willing to trade?" Kyle asked.

"Yes, I am," the Immortal answered, her voice much calmer. "My title is Abyssal Depths. What are your titles?"

"You want to strengthen our Karmic Connection?" Kyle asked with a raised brow.

Knowing someone's title or name could strengthen the Karmic Connection. However, this also made it harder to gain positive Karmic Luck by interacting with that person. Helping a family member or close friend was almost expected, so one wouldn't gain much Karmic Luck. Helping a complete stranger wasn't expected, which was why this act brought more positive Karmic Luck.

By asking for their titles, Abyssal Depths was essentially trying to turn the two strangers into two acquaintances. Yet, this action didn't seem to benefit her since she wouldn't get as much Karmic Luck from the exchange.

"Why not?" Abyssal Depths asked calmly. "Maybe we have similar goals."

"What do you think?" Kyle asked Sebastian via voice transmission. "We want to create our own Organization, which means we need new members anyway."

"Sure, why not?" Sebastian answered. "We don't even know how we can find new members. Hell, we don't even know what our Organization will look like. Might as well get another founding member, assuming she agrees."

"I don't really have a title," Kyle transmitted. "You can just call me Kyle."

"Same here. You can call me Sebastian."

"My first piece of advice," Abyssal Depths transmitted. "Get a proper title."

"Why?" Kyle asked.

"There are almost no fixed rules in the Immortal Dimension, especially in the Wargod's Peak," she explained. "The only rule that you definitely have to follow is to keep your identification with you. Unidentifiable Immortals will be hunted down."

"As for your name, Immortals with Mortal names tend to be weaker on average than Immortals without Mortal names in several aspects. Having a Mortal name correlates with deeper ties to the Main Dimension. Many Immortals have one or more Secondary or Primary Organizations. They can use their Organizations to attack your Organization to get you to do something they want."

"The connections a normal Immortal has with their Organizations in the Main Dimension are loose and impersonal. Someone with a Mortal name is more likely to have a deep and personal connection with their Organizations. Even if it's not true in your case, your lack of a title will make you a target. Additionally, Immortals with a Mortal name don't tend to pursue the path to power with as much determination as Immortals with a proper title."

"Having a Mortal name increases the number of attacks and schemes targeting you," Abyssal Depths explained.

"That makes sense," Kyle answered, then looked at Sebastian with a raised brow.

"Are you going to get a title?" Sebastian asked.

"No," Kyle transmitted, smirking. "I want people to attack me. My Battle-Strength is my greatest asset. The more people attack me, the better. I don't know about you, though."

Sebastian furrowed his brows. "I'm not as powerful as you. To be honest, it also feels a bit weird to have a normal name when I'm surrounded by people with imposing titles."

As Sebastian thought about his title, Melanie shot through his mind.

He sighed. "You may call me Lost Spark."

'Can't say it doesn't fit him. At least, right now,' Kyle thought as he looked at Sebastian with concern.

"That's a good title," Abyssal Depths answered. "It gives off a profound feeling. What about you?"

"I'll keep my name," Kyle answered with a smile.

"Fine," Abyssal Depths answered. "It's your choice. Is there anything else you want to know about the Immortal Dimension?"

"Yeah, everything," Kyle answered. "Why does everyone say it's so cutthroat? Why is not having a backer so dangerous? What do we need to be careful of?"

"Almost all of the dangers in the Immortal Dimension have one single source," Abyssal Depths answered. "The requirements to advance inside the Universe Realm."

"Which are?" Sebastian asked.

"You don't know them?" Abyssal Depths asked, raising a brow.

"We don't have a backer," Kyle replied. "Nobody told us about the Universe Realm."

"I see," Abyssal Depths answered, brows furrowed. "The requirements to advance inside the Universe Realm are simultaneously the easiest and the hardest to fulfill."

"You don't need Laws. You don't need Momentum. You don't need an Imposing Law. You don't need impact. You only need one thing."

"Energy in any form."

"A lot of it."
