Chapter 1151: Abyssal Depths

'Well, whether or not I'm responsible for the Second Great Shift doesn't matter. In the end, it doesn't change anything,' Kyle thought. 'I'm more interested in how the Immortal Dimension works.'

"Back to the topic, how hard is it to get enough Energy Stones to advance?" Kyle asked.

"Very hard," Abyssal Depths answered. "I've spent over three million years in the Immortal Dimension, and I've only barely managed to become an Adept Immortal, which is the Third Level. I'm not weak or inexperienced. It's genuinely this hard."

"How come? What's so hard about it?" Kyle asked. "I need some specifics."

"It's a lot to talk about," Abyssal Depths answered, frowning. "Why don't you just tell me what you plan to do to gain your resources, and I will tell you how it will most likely go?"

Kyle raised an eyebrow. "Sure, I can do that. First, I would probably leave the city and search for some natural resources. You said that any form of Energy would work. There are plants, beasts, other Immortals, Law Wells, and so on, right?"

"You leave the city," Abyssal Depths narrated. "While doing so, several Adept and Minor Immortals noticed. They know that, as a New Immortal, you might have leftover resources from your time as an Ascendant that could amount to a couple of Grade Nine Energy Stones. All of them come to an agreement. The one who kills you gets 50% of your resources, while the remainder split the other 50%. Approximately three Minor Immortals and 15 Adept Immortals will hunt you. They won't fight each other."

Kyle and Sebastian looked at Abyssal Depths with surprise. "Wait, so many of those would target us?" Sebastian asked.

Abyssal Depths nodded. "You are not part of a big Organization. Affiliate members receive protection in the form of a level limit. As an affiliate member, only Immortals who are a level above you are allowed to fight you. At most, you will be the target of a Beginner Immortal. As a true member of an Organization, you receive protection from anyone who's at a higher level. That means, as a New Immortal, you will only be targeted by other New Immortals."

"Without allegiance, you receive no protection. If they can just get a single Grade Nine Energy, even Minor Immortals will try to kill you. In your case, Kyle, you might not be the target of too many Minor Immortals due to your True Hero Aura. Most of them would ignore you since they would need around 20 Grade Nine Energy Stones to break even. After all, they need to commission Auspicious Karma to repair their Karmic Luck."

"The stronger the killer is in relation to their victim, the more damage their Karmic Luck receives. Naturally, this also scales with the level of Karmic Luck the victim has."

Sebastian took a deep breath when he heard all of that. He was not nearly as powerful as Kyle. If they had just advanced in a random location, Sebastian would have probably died. Kyle could probably fight Immortals above his level, but Sebastian couldn't... probably.

"How big are the gaps between levels in the Universe Realm?" Sebastian asked.

"Each level doubles your Energy," Abyssal Depths answered.

Sebastian furrowed his brows. This was a pretty big gap. Due to his Weapon Avatars, each of Sebastian's Human Avatars had access to twice the amount of Energy an equivalent Immortal had access to. Yet, this gap would vanish with one difference in level. This meant a fight between Sebastian, as a New Immortal, and a Beginner Immortal would be determined by their Battle-Strengths.

Sebastian had a 90% chance of losing since his Laws weren't that powerful.

"I've got a question," Kyle transmitted. "Assuming I could jump two levels within the Universe Realm, I would be able to survive, right?"

"Once," Abyssal Depths answered. "You would survive exactly one time. The damage to Karmic Luck when killing someone weaker doesn't scale with Realm but with total power. Assuming you could kill an Adept Immortal as a New Immortal, killing you would cause as much damage to your Karmic Luck as killing an Adept Immortal."

"Immortals have Avatars. When they attack you, and you inevitably kill them, their remaining Avatars will notice your power, and they will sell that information to Minor, Medium, and Major Immortals. Your power will be publicized, and more powerful Immortals will be after you," she explained.

"What about the resources I carry?" Kyle asked. "I would still be a New Immortal, which means I'm not very rich."

"That is also a factor," Abyssal Depths answered. "In truth, not many Medium Immortals would go after you. Medium Immortals need 62,500 Grade Nine Energy Stones to advance, and it's much more expensive for them to repair their Karmic Luck. However, some of them might still take the risk. Do you see now why it's foolish to create your own Organization in the Immortal Dimension when you've only just arrived?"

"What about creating a business?" Kyle asked, not engaging with the question.

"All needs are taken care of," Abyssal Depths answered. "Anything you can make money with is already being exploited by the Higher Supreme Organizations or individual Lords. Trying to create a business means attempting to become their rivals, and they are very good at getting rid of their rivals."

"What about going to the Hero Dimension?" Kyle asked.

"Have you ever been there?" Abyssal Depths answered.

"Not yet, but I could go there," Kyle answered.

"The Hero Dimension is filled with resources, and it's almost devoid of human life," Abyssal Depths explained. "It is a land filled with opportunities and infinite treasures. However, just being in the Hero Dimension drains your Karmic Luck, and if you decide to make use of the resources, your Karmic Luck will drop even faster."

"You can leave the Hero Dimension whenever you want, but you can only enter with a True Hero Aura. If your Karmic Luck drops to neutrality, you will be forcefully ejected. Usually, Seekers go to the Hero Dimension and grab as many resources as they can before being ejected. Usually, one trip gives you enough resources to advance a level. If you focus on comprehending Laws, you can usually comprehend one Law before being ejected. After that, your Karmic Luck will be at zero."

"That's what I did," Abyssal Depths explained with a sigh.

"Speaking of which, how did you end up here?" Sebastian asked.

"I joined a newer excursion team in the Immortal Dimension. They gave me 100 Grade Nine Energy Stones so that I could become a Beginner Immortal. In exchange, I had to join them and stay with them for two million years. I did, but our group was slowly whittled down until only three of us were left. We gave up and split up. I joined some excursions, but progress was very slow. I've almost died several times, and in exchange, I got around 150 Grade Nine Energy Stones and a dead Avatar, leaving me with two."

"I decided to use my True Hero Aura and went to the Hero Dimension. I finished comprehending the Law of Void Darkness and grabbed enough treasures to advance a level. I became an Adept Immortal with a Pure Level Eight Law, but with zero Karmic Luck and only two out of three Avatars remaining."

"I went on an excursion again and killed a couple of Immortal Avatars. Sadly, none of them had their storage keys with them, which meant I didn't get anything besides a big loss in Karmic Luck."

"I came to this Planet to find a way to recover my Karmic Luck, and that's when I met you."
