Strongest Hammer God

Chapter 1168: Good Offer

Chapter 1168: Good Offer

While Kyle was waiting for the merchant to evaluate his wares, someone took notice of him.

The merchant remained silent and acted like he was looking at the wares.

Then, moments later, someone appeared beside Kyle, making him raise his brows in surprise.

'That teleportation did not come from a Teleportation Formation Array,' he thought as he looked at the white-haired young lady in the blood-red uniform of Wargod's Peak.

As Kyle looked at her, he could only feel that she was a bit stronger than him, and this alarmed him. Someone who was just a bit stronger than him couldn't possibly teleport within the Immortal Dimension.

'That can only mean that she's so much stronger than me that I can't even sense her true power,' Kyle thought, getting a bit worried. 'I think I know who that is. Well, this had to happen at some point. I just hope she's not too strong.'

When the merchant saw the young lady, a shocked expression appeared on his face.

"Greetings, Protector," he said in a respectful voice.

Naturally, everyone else in the marketplace noticed her arrival as well, and within moments, Kyle became the center of attention. After all, the Protector was obviously here to talk to this Beginner Immortal.

"Your title is Kyle, correct?" the Protector asked Kyle via voice transmission.

"Yep," Kyle answered. Naturally, Kyle was only his title. His actual name was a bit harder to pronounce. "Can I help you?"

"Give him 70%," she said to the merchant.

"Of course!" the merchant answered before he pushed the Space Ring to Kyle. "Please, retrieve your Energy Stones."

"Sure, thank you," Kyle said with a sigh. He retrieved a big chunk of Energy Stones, increasing his wealth to about 180 Grade Nine Energy Stones. He made quite a bit of money, but Kyle wasn't even thinking about the money he had just made.

Even before he had advanced, Kyle knew that he wouldn't be able to remain hidden for long. Every Protected City had a Protector, and every Protector was a Lord. Kyle's Law of Karmic Causality worked only to a certain extent. The greater the gap in power between him and the observer, the more of Kyle's true aura the observer could sense.

The Protector could probably feel quite a bit of Kyle's aura.

'If I'm lucky, she can only sense 20% of my aura. If I'm unlucky, it's 50%. If she can only sense 20% of my aura, I'm just an exceptionally talented person that the Wargod's Peak desperately wants to recruit. If she can sense 50%, I don't have a choice. It's loyalty or death.'

"Come with me," the Protector said, and moments later, Kyle sensed that the Protector wanted to teleport him. He didn't resist, and after a short moment, Kyle found himself inside an isolated room. Formation Arrays blocked all senses from entering or leaving the room.

Based on looks, Kyle was in a "meeting room". The Wargod's Peak had a spartan and direct ideology, and this ideology showed itself in their designs. While the outside of their buildings resembled Earth's Middle Ages architecture, the insides were often kept simple. Their rooms were often made out of powerful wood and hardened beast materials. This room, for example, only had a round rug of beast fur in the center.

The Lord gestured to the rug, and the two of them sat down opposite each other.

"Let me get right to the point," the Protector said. "What is required to gain your loyalty?"

'Sure enough, she got right to the point,' Kyle thought. 'For fuck's sake, can't I just have a normal life? Just let me build my excursion team!'

"Nothing," Kyle answered. "The only thing I want is freedom and agency. I came to the Wargod's Peak precisely because of your lenient restrictions. I know that I can be quite noticeable, which is why I came here. I simply want to do my own thing."

The Lord looked at Kyle without changing her expression.

"A Chosen position and 20 million Grade Nine Energy Stones," she said.

Kyle suppressed the deep breath he just wanted to take. Chosen was the highest rank a Disciple could get. The Chosen of Higher Supreme Organizations were all supposed to become Lords. However, Chosen were also strictly bound to one Organization. No one, not even the Sky Reachers, sold their chosen. They were the future backbone of the Organization.

"That's... a very big offer," Kyle answered with a helpless smile, "but this is not about money or status. A short life of freedom is worth more than an eternity shackled, at least to me."

The Lord looked at Kyle for a while.

"Thirty million," she answered.

"This is not about money," Kyle repeated.

"Forty million."

'Lady, I want to join you, but I can't!' Kyle thought with frustration. 'If any fucking Demigod sees me, I'm done for! I will become their most treasured possession, but at some point, the other Organizations will notice, and they will unite to deal with me. I will not get any time to grow! I will just fucking die!'

'But I can't fucking tell you, because you would come to the same realization. Accepting me means putting the Wargod's Peak at risk, and you know that! The smartest choice would be to quietly kill me off!'

"I'm sorry, but I don't want to join," Kyle answered politely. "I really, really, really like my freedom. I just want to live a normal life. I just want to make my own excursion team."

The Protector looked into Kyle's eyes with a piercing glare.

"Are you worried about your past with Inner World?" she suddenly asked.

Kyle felt like he had been doused by a bucket of cold water. "What past?" he asked.

"Your World Weapon," she answered, gesturing to his hammer for a moment. "I can tell that it's of exceptional quality. Inner World doesn't sell those. You must have a past with them. I can assure you, your past will not be an issue."

'Ah,' Kyle thought with relief. 'For a second there, I thought that she knew about my true identity.'

"This is not a World Weapon," Kyle answered.

"If that's so, you won't mind me drilling a hole into your weapon and repairing it, right?" she asked.

If this were a World Weapon, drilling a hole in it would equate to trying to uncover Inner World's secrets. Every World Weapon would destroy itself if someone tried to find out more about it.

"I will be making the hole," Kyle answered.

"Fine," she answered.

Kyle put his finger to a part of his hammer, and his hammer parted slowly. It was essentially just moving its body around. It was a bit like if someone slowly moved a blade through Kyle's body. His body would part, but it would immediately regrow around the blade as it kept moving through him.

The Protector watched as Kyle cut through almost the entire hammer. World Weapons were very rigid since they used complex Formation Arrays. The Connections of the Formation Arrays couldn't shift without breaking.

This surprised the Protector quite a bit, and she narrowed her eyes.

She was sure that this was a World Weapon, but it also couldn't be one.

'Is he truly unaffiliated?' she deliberated as she glanced at Kyle, who looked at her with a poker face.

"Do you consent to a Karmic Origin Search?"

The author's patreon. If he gets more than 1000 per month, he will increase the number of words in the chapter.
