Chapter 1196: Formation Array Network
Chapter 1196: Formation Array Network
"Even without the distance, we still wouldn't have an opportunity to attain the Space Distortion," Abyssal Depths commented. "Space Distortions are usually fought over by Minor, Medium, and Major Immortals. Even Ascending Immortals might be interested if they happen to be close. Finally, assuming we were the only ones around it, I doubt you can create the Formation Array needed to stabilize the Space Distortion."
"True, true, and true," Kyle answered.
"I hate this," Sebastian commented. "So many valuables, but we can't get any."
"It all comes back to power," Abyssal Depths explained. "There are plenty of valuables, but we're not powerful enough to get them."
"So, what do we do now?" Kyle asked.
"That's up to you," Abyssal Depths replied. "I'm not nearly experienced enough to act as a Guide. The ever-changing nature of the Immortal Dimension confuses me as much as it confuses you. Choose a random Planet, and we'll go there. Let's hope we find something useful, but I wouldn't bet on it. Lost Spark is the only one with some Karmic Luck."
Kyle sighed. 'That's why Karmic Luck is so important. The Visions of Destiny are insanely useful here.'
"Sure, let's go... there!" Red shouted, pointing at a Planet close to the Failed Law Well.
"The Failed Law Well is an obvious starting point for new Excursion Teams," Abyssal Depths replied. "There might be some teams lurking on the surrounding Planets."
"Well, we have to fight some other teams at some point anyway," Red said with a shrug. "Just because we're not attacking others doesn't mean we're afraid of battle. Also, battling others might be beneficial for our Karmic Luck, assuming we let them go unharmed.""Dangerous, but I usually don't shy away from danger," Abyssal Depths. "If I were such a person, I wouldn't be in this team."
Kyle and Sebastian chuckled a bit as the team flew around the Failed Law Well. Luckily, the Failed Law Well wasn't too big. Although size was relative here. For Immortals, a small Planet was just a couple of million kilometers across.
The team moved around the Law Well for almost an entire minute before they reached the vicinity of their target. The Planet Kyle had pointed towards was like most Planets, brown, desolate, and lifeless. These brown Planets were the most common kind of Planet.
Usually, the values of Planets followed a bell curve relating to the presence of Elemental Energies. A Planet with a high purity of only one Element was usually exceptionally valuable. The more different Elemental Energies mixed, the less valuable a Planet became. That was until the Elements reached an equilibrium, which turned them valuable again.
High-Purity Planets could have Law Wells, Vortexes, Materials, and other things. Balanced Planets could have valuable Immortal Plants, Immortal Beasts, Natural Trials, Mixed Earths, Metals, and other things. Dirt Planets still had valuables, but they were buried somewhere in their crust.
"Wait a moment," Red said as he stopped moving. "I want to set up a Formation Array."
"For what?" Abyssal Depths asked. "If someone already sensed us, they would have already attacked."
"I'll make a portable Formation Array," Kyle explained as Red and Blue summoned several materials.
Abyssal Depths' brows rose in slight surprise. "You can make portable Formation Arrays already?"
"Yep," Kyle answered as his Avatars set up a couple of Formation Arrays.
"That's pretty impressive, considering that you've only studied Formation Arrays for some years," Abyssal Depths commented. "Only around a third of Excursion Teams at our relative level have someone who can create portable Formation Arrays."
True Formation Array Masters were rare, but almost every Excursion Team had a member who could create some Formation Arrays. The female Adept Immortal the Abyss Hammer Team had killed in the Hell Dimension was one of these people. She knew how to set up a couple of basic Formation Arrays, but her skills couldn't compare to the skills of a Beginner Immortal Formation Array Master.
Kyle created a Stabilizing Formation Array to lock the components in place. Then, he created an External Space Distortion Formation Array that could move all of the other Formation Arrays contained within it through space. Afterward, he made a Cloaking Formation Array that blocked sight. A Divine Consciousness could easily see through it, but eyes couldn't.
Then, he created a Sensing Formation Array and an Elemental Energy Sensing Formation Array. Kyle added an Energy Homogenization Formation Array to increase the Energy Transformation Translation Efficiency while using his personal Energy as an Energy Source. Finally, he created an Equalizing Formation.
Except for the Stabilizing Formation Array, every other Formation Array required at least some Advanced Materials. Fortunately, Kyle had prepared enough materials before leaving.
When everything was set up, the Formation Arrays activated. Within a moment, Kyle's perception changed. His Sensing Formation Array "gathered" his Divine Consciousness and redirected it. As long as Kyle looked through the Sensing Formation Array, he could see three times farther. It was just that he could only sense everything within a stretched cone instead of everything around him.
Sadly, due to how this Formation Array worked, Kyle lost his ability to sense everything around him. If he could build a more advanced one, he could have both.
'But that's why we have Abyssal Depths with us. Her Divine Consciousness is bigger than mine anyway,' Kyle thought.
Kyle moved the cone of his Formation Array around, inspecting the distant Planet. Sadly, the cone didn't reach the surface.
"You can create an Equalizing Formation Array that can combine so many Formation Arrays?" Abyssal Depths asked.
"You know what an Equalizing Formation Array is?" Kyle asked with a bit of surprise.
"I don't," Sebastian commented.
"An Equalizing Formation Array is the heart of a basic Formation Array Network," Abyssal Depths explained. "It balances the Energy Waves. Without it, the different Formation Arrays would interfere with each other, making them useless. I've dabbled a bit in Formation Arrays, but as soon as I got to the Advanced Materials, I ran into trouble. I can make some, but my skills are limited."
"Advanced Materials?" Sebastian asked.
"Formation Arrays within materials within Formation Arrays within materials and so on," Kyle explained.
"Sounds... complicated," Sebastian commented.
"Insanely," Kyle and Abyssal Depths answered at the same time, eliciting a glance from each other.
"How's your Energy Efficiency?" Abyssal Depths asked Kyle.
"Positive 40%," Kyle answered.
Abyssal Depths raised her brows. "You still regenerate Energy at 40% of your usual speed?"
"Yep," Kyle replied.
"With that many Formation Arrays working at the same time?" she asked.
"Yep! Pretty good, huh?" Kyle asked with a smirk.
"That's far better than expected," Abyssal Depths praised.
"Thanks! Anyway, we should get going," Kyle transmitted. "I'll move the network. Just stay close to me, and things should work out."
"You know," Sebastian commented as he looked at the complicated network of Connections, Bases, and Nodes, "I might get into Formation Arrays. This seems like something I can sink my teeth into."
"It's fucking expensive," Kyle commented as the network moved forward.
"I know," Sebastian answered with a sigh. "Let a man have his dreams, alright? If I can't be useful during the Excursion, I can at least dream about being useful."
The team slowly moved forward while Kyle kept looking at all of his different Formation Arrays.
"Wait!" Kyle said as the network stopped moving. He looked at the readings of his Elemental Energy Sensing Formation Array and analyzed it for a bit. "I'm getting unusual readings of Elemental Energies."
"Meaning?" Sebastian asked.
"Treasure or Formation Array?" Abyssal Depths asked.
"Formation Array," Kyle answered. "The readings are too orderly and logical. Someone in front of us is most likely using a Formation Array."
"What's the plan?" Sebastian asked.
Abyssal Depths furrowed her brows.
"The plan is Ankylosaurus," Kyle answered with a small smirk. "We're not afraid of battle."
"We continue?" Abyssal Depths asked.
"Correct," Kyle answered.
"Then, why did you even make that Elemental Sensing thing if you're just going to ignore it?" Sebastian asked with a raised brow.
"To gauge the other team's strength," Kyle answered. "I'm not worried about enemies that my Elemental Energy Sensing Formation Array can pick up. I'm worried about the enemies that I can't sense with this."
"And again, what's the point if you can't sense them, then?" Sebastian asked.
"Gives me time to prepare," Kyle answered.
He transmitted the next sentence exclusively to Sebastian.
"If I know the enemy is strong, I might have enough time to reassemble my Death Hammer before we die."
