Chapter 1199: Body Vs. Spear

Chapter 1199: Body Vs. Spear

The power of Sebastian's attack surprised several people. He was just a Beginner Immortal, but he had only slightly lost a clash with an Adept Immortal who was focusing on defense. This seemingly made no sense unless...

"Refined Law with an Imposing Law above 90% in quality!" the Leader transmitted to his team as the Energy behind him assumed the form of a spear. The Leader had an Imposing Law with 90% quality, but he hadn't had enough time to create a Refined Law out of it.

The spear behind him manifested as he dumped 90% of his Energy into it. Some Refined and Imposing Laws didn't need to use all of the Energy they could transform to be activated, but this was not one of them.

Abyssal Depths narrowed her eyes as she gathered 85% of her Energy, the maximum her Imposing Law could use. At the same time, her Domain started to clash with her opponent's Domain.

A sea of figures made of lightning and fire appeared around the Leader before rushing forward. At the same time, a black whirlpool filled with silhouettes appeared around Abyssal Depths, which also rushed forward.

Abyssal Depths had Natural Affinities for Darkness and Water, while her Artificial Affinity was for Time. Her Infused Law consisted of Darkness and Water, while her External Law consisted of the Primordial Forces.

The Domains clashed. The ethereal and violent figures clashed with the shrouded silhouettes as the Energy around them was thrown into disarray.

Abyssal Depths lifted her leg while the Leader pulled his spear back. More Energy gathered around them, and just a moment later...

BANG!

The spear thrust forward as Abyssal Depth's leg kicked forward. The two combatants were directly in front of each other. These were not ethereal ranged attacks but brutal melee attacks.

The spear and the leg warped countless times. It almost seemed like they were in several places at the same time. This illusion came from their countless, minuscule reactions. Their minds moved at their fastest speeds. During every instant, they slightly changed the angle of their attack in response to how their opponent changed their attacks.

Laws were not the only things that decided who would emerge as the victor. If the tip of the spear hit Abyssal Depths' leg, she would suffer severe damage. If the leg managed to hit the side of the spear's head, the Leader would lose far more Energy than Abyssal Depths since his Energy would be redirected.

The two attacks warped more and more as they approached each other.

Suddenly, Abyssal Depths' leg stopped moving as all of the Energy around it vanished. Then, within a tiny instant, the Energy around her leg morphed again, but this time, it manifested behind it.

An illusory leg appeared behind it, and it kicked forward, hitting the side of the spear's shaft.

BANG!

The illusory leg was dispersed as the spear shook slightly. Simultaneously, the reality around Abyssal Depths warped as she used her External Law in response to the Leader using his External Law as well.

It was a race of Energy. Both parties tore at reality. The one who would invest more Energy would win.

Yet, investing Energy was dangerous. Neither of them had Perfected Imposing Law, which meant that they needed to have enough Energy to use their Imposing Laws. If the Leader's Energy storage fell beneath 90%, his Imposing Law would become inaccessible. The same thing was true if Abyssal Depths' Energy storage fell beneath 85%.

Reality tore on the spear as two opposing forces influenced it.

BANG!

The leg hit the spear's shaft, but the spear barely moved. The spear was still influenced by the Leader's Imposing Law. Abyssal Depths' kick had been purely physical since she had already used her Imposing Law to conjure the illusory kick.

The spear kept shooting forward, but the two kicks had influenced it just enough to make it miss its target.

The first clash had passed, and the results were in.

Abyssal Depths had lost 90% of her Energy.

The Leader had lost 70% of his Energy.

Illusory versions of Imposing Laws were much weaker than their physical versions. When the illusory kick had hit the spear, it had been completely broken while the spear had survived. Luckily, this move had put the Leader into a problematic position. If he had continued striking, his spear would have missed. This forced him to use his External Law.

Changing reality was much harder than keeping it stable. The Leader needed to use far more Energy than Abyssal Depths since he wanted to change reality while his opponent wanted to keep it stable.

He had four times as much Energy left as Abyssal Depths, but he couldn't use his Imposing Law anymore. Naturally, Abyssal Depths also couldn't use her Imposing Law anymore.

After the clash had concluded, things immediately continued. Reality warped around both of them as the Leader tried to retreat while Abyssal Depths tried to close in. Her opponent was using a spear, while she was using her body. Spears were great at a longer range but weaker in a close melee. The closer Abyssal Depths got to her opponent, the better her chances were.

Once more, the Leader tried to change reality by trying to increase the distance between him and his opponent. Abyssal Depths was already close, which meant that she just needed to keep reality stable.

Abyssal Depths' body moved forward like a poisonous vine. Her Infused Law gave her incredible flexibility and a corroding touch.

At the same time, the Leader's body moved backward with unending power and violence. His Infused Law gave him explosive speed and power.

Reality around them shook violently as they tore at it.

Both of their Energy storages dropped rapidly, but the Leader's Energy was dropping faster. Within a split second, the Leader made a decision.

BANG!

The reality between Abyssal Depths and the Leader broke into pieces. The Leader had used his External Law to create a tear in reality. This was similar to a Space Tear but more advanced. This spot was not only spaceless but also timeless and without gravity. Anything that entered this Reality Rift would be turned into Energy until the Reality Rift had absorbed enough Energy to repair itself.

Abyssal Depths stopped herself, but parts of her legs and arms still entered, turning into pure Energy. Luckily, she managed to save the majority of her body by pulling back, but she had still lost another three percent of her Energy, dropping her to seven percent of her maximum.

The Leader moved back a great distance and readied his spear. He was finally at a comfortable range again, but it had cost him dearly.

Breaking reality cost a lot of Energy. During this clash, he had lost over 20% of his maximum Energy, reducing his Energy Storage to around 17% of its peak.

However, the trade had been worth it. In a close-quarters melee, he would have lost even more Energy. His weapon of choice and his Infused Law supported straight and brutal movements, while Abyssal Depths' setup supported rapid adaptation and close-quarters combat.

To the Leader, engaging Abyssal Depths at such a close range was akin to entering a wrestling match where one party was allowed to use grapples while the other party could only use punches. Punches and kicks were great from a distance, but when the other person was winding around the first person's body, punches and kicks would lose a lot of their usefulness.

Luckily, the Leader had made the correct choice. Now, he had the Energy and distance advantage. As long as he attacked again, he would win.

Yet, before he could launch his next attack, his eyes widened in shock.

Something had happened in one of the other two battles!
