Chapter 1216: Illegal
Chapter 1216: Illegal
Just when the palms were about to launch, the Minor Immortal felt like someone had just punched his mind.
For the first time since he became an Immortal, Kyle had activated his Momentum. He hadn't done so before, since activating his Momentum would be a bit too shocking to onlookers.
An Infused Mind Law changed Momentum in such a way that it affected the opponent in the opposite direction of how the Infused Mind Law affected the user.
If an Infused Mind Law increased confidence, the enemy would lose confidence. The effects were determined by the Elements.
Fire granted explosive rage. Water granted calm restraint.
Kyle had all eight Major Elements in his Infused Law. So, how did this Infused Law affect his mind?
The explosive rage of fire was neutralized by water's restraint. Lightning's conviction was neutralized by earth's unbroken stability. Metal's determination was neutralized by wind's carefree adaptability. Darkness' greed was neutralized by light's altruism.
Including all of the Elements changed everything and nothing at the same time. The strengths and weaknesses of the Elements neutralized each other, creating and changing nothing.
Yet, they also created something that was so much more.
When all of the Elements combined, something became possible.
Life.
The Elements supported life. For the user of the Infused Law, there wouldn't be a change. Their mind wouldn't be affected since all permutations of emotions were included.
They would stay themselves. They were just alive.
How would that affect the target of the Momentum?
Well, it affected them in the opposite direction.
The Minor Immortal's mind slowed down. He felt like reality was moving so much faster than it had been moving before. Forming a thought was so much harder than before.
Life was movement, while death was stillness.
The two palms were launched, and they shot right towards Red and Blue.
However, due to the shock of Kyle's Momentum, the two palms had been launched in a slightly weakened state. While they contained 93% of the Minor Immortal's Energy, they only unleashed 80% of their power.
Red and Blue swung their hammers.
Reality warped around them as they activated their Karmic Hammer with all of their power. The Energy of their Human Avatars and Weapon Avatars combined, giving them access to an amount of Energy that only Adept Immortals had access to.
Their physical Level 9.5 Refined Law clashed with the weakened, illusory 93% quality Imposing Law.
BOOOOOM!
The attacks clashed, and the walls of the underground cave immediately collapsed, causing a cave-in.
The Elemental Energies were thrown into chaos, and reality was warped beyond recognition.
The Minor Immortal's eyes were torn open with terror and fear. He had no idea what was going on, but his instincts gave him a very clear message.
Flee!
Red and Blue shot through the destruction, charging right towards the Minor Immortal.
When they saw the Minor Immortal turning around, they sent an order to their Formation Arrays.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Suddenly, all of the Formation Arrays in the hole detonated, disrupting the equilibrium of Energy.
In an instant, the entire hole started collapsing. If this had happened at a greater depth, the effects would be devastating.
Luckily, the underground cave wasn't anywhere near the deepest part of the hole. At most, the cave-in would cause an annoying inconvenience.
And that was all Kyle needed.
The pressure and gravity of the Planet pulled the collapsing walls together before violently pulling them downwards...
Right towards the Minor Immortal.
When the Minor Immortal saw that, his mind went through countless plans and realizations.
The cave-in wasn't dangerous to him, but it would slow him down. Digging through these walls would take some time, which he didn't have.
He had no choice but to fight!
The Avatar with a full Energy Storage turned to Red and Blue, which were about to reach one of the weakened Avatars.
The Minor Immortal knew that the battle would be over if Kyle managed to hit one of his Avatars.
He knew that Kyle had a Soul Attack. If he struck such a weakened Avatar with a Soul Attack, there would be no chance of survival.
At that moment, the Minor Immortal's decisive nature showed itself.
BOOOOM!
Red and Blue were pushed back as the Avatar in front of them exploded.
The Minor Immortal had sacrificed his Avatar so that Kyle couldn't hit him with a Soul Attack.
Reality warped once again, and Kyle's Avatars charged-
They stopped.
In the hand of the Minor Immortal's healthy Avatar was a small emblem.
The emblem was as unassuming as it could be. It essentially was just a blank, metallic coin.
Yet, the Energy Kyle could sense was exceptionally complex. The Energy exhibited a magical aura of wisdom and power.
Kyle immediately realized what this was, and for the first time today, he felt horror.
'A Last Light! These things are fucking illegal to carry! Why does he have one?!'
Last Lights were not illegal to produce, but they had to be stored within safe vaults. The owners were not allowed to carry them with them unless they had accepted a registered mission that involved attacking the Cult.
Legally, Last Lights were also required to have the appearance of the emblem of the Organization that created them.
The fact that this Last Light was just a blank coin meant that it had been created without following the rules.
Someone was making illegal Last Lights and distributing them.
Handling an illegal Last Light was extremely risky! Creating, distributing, storing, carrying, or using unmarked Last Lights led to immediate execution of all Avatars!
As Kyle sensed the Last Light, he also realized something else.
Some of the transformations of the Energy inside of it fit the Minor Law of Death perfectly.
There were almost no people in the Immortal Dimension who knew the Minor Law of Death. After all, these people were less likely to witness the destruction of an entire world.
Then, there were also some of the materials that Kyle recognized.
'The Cult!'
'This Last Light was made by the Cult!'
Why were Last Lights illegal?
Because relying on them hurt the power ecosystem of the Immortal Dimension. It was used as a last resort. The weaker party would use it shortly before they lost to cheat out a win.
The stronger party would die, and the weaker party would survive.
A person with greater personal power would die to a person with lower personal power.
The strong died, while the weak survived.
When pushed to the extreme, the talented and hardworking would perish, leaving the weak but rich.
Over a long time, this would weaken the average strength of every member of the Cosmos. After all, with Last Lights, the fight wouldn't be fought by the fighters but by the seniors who created the Last Light.
Kyle had expected a lot, but he hadn't expected that the Minor Immortal would carry a Last Light with him.
Within an instant, almost all of the Energy of the Minor Immortal's healthy Avatar entered the Last Light.
Then, the Last Light shone with iridescence as the cave collapsed above it.
Kyle was put before a choice.
'Defend together or sacrifice an Avatar?!' he thought with urgency.
The Last Light couldn't hit both Avatars if they were in different locations. However, if both Avatars defended, they might survive.
After all, the Last Light used the user's Energy, which meant it couldn't have more Energy than a Minor Immortal. It was just that the quality of the Energy was exceptionally high.
Most likely, this Last Light had the power of a Complex Level Ten Law...
At least.
