Chapter 1000: Nooo-!
Chapter 1000: Nooo-!
Nie Haoshuo felt a chill run down his spine when he met Max’s gaze and heard his words.
“Heh, it’s really hard to believe you are that Gu kid.”
Suddenly he heard a voice behind him and he snapped back to his senses. Then his face turned dark and he barked in rage, “Elders, he dared sneak attack me with the intention to kill. And now he has threatened me like this. Kill him for me!”
He was enraged but it didn’t make him lose his mind. Not only was he seriously injured at the moment, his ribcage having fractured, the punch also told him that Gu Chen was a lot stronger than him.
This just didn’t scare him but also sent waves of disbelief rocking his heart. He wasn’t much older than him and Nie Haolong but he was already a 7th Layer Muscle Refinement realm cultivator while these two used to be the bottom feeders of Skin Refinement realm just half a year ago.
While Nie Haolong was still in the Skin Refinement, this Gu Chen hadn’t just reached Muscle Refinement, he was also a lot stronger than him.
Just how could he believe this?
Was Gu Chen more talented than him? Absolutely not.
Did his family have better resources that helped him become stronger in such a short time? This was also not possible because his servant had given information about the Gu family, so he knew they were barely able to keep their family fed due to Liu and Song families’ suppression.
As for their savings, Gu Rong had exhausted most of it to reach the peak of Blood Condensation. Even if they had some left, it shouldn’t have allowed him to improve so much in such a short time.
And this was all considering he wasn’t seriously ill like rumoured, the chances of which were very low. After all, even their Nie family wasn’t confident it could keep information like this secret if their enemies were determined to find out, let alone the severely weakened Gu Family.
Max ignored both Nie Haoshuo and the two behind him once he was done making his statement. So as the one of the two behind Nie Haoshuo and Nie Haoshuo himself spoke, he had crouched down beside Nie Xiaolu and gently wiped the blood off her lips.
He then looked into her eyes and grabbed the wooden splinter in her shoulder. Nie Xiaolu gritted her teeth and nodded.
Puchi!
Immediately he pulled it out. Blood streamed out of her wound which he quickly pressed with palm, then tore a part of his sleeves and tightly wrapped it on her shoulder, stopping the blood from flowing out.
When he saw her face scrunched up in pain, he felt a wave of helplessness because he had no way to relieve her pain at the moment. The next moment, this feeling of helplessness became the oil that inflamed the fire of his rage burning fiercely inside him.
“Come on.” He said in the softest voice he could manage as he helped her stand on her feet.
Nie Xiaolu glanced at Nie Haoshuo and the two middle-aged men behind him whose faces were dark due to Max ignoring them.
“Brother Chen, those two are the elders on the verge of—” She opened her mouth to warm him but Max cut her off.
“No need to worry about it. No one will be able to save him today.” He said, his voice calm without any ripple.
Nie Xiaolu took a breath, then said, “They have Haolong.”
“I’ll save him. If he has died, I’ll send everyone involved to the afterlife to accompany him.” said Max and Nie Xiaolu felt her heart clench at his words.
She didn’t care about revenge and just wanted her brother to be alive.
But if he was not…
She glanced at Haolong—now lying on the ground because the duo behind Nie Haoshuo had dropped him as soon as they entered. Seeing he was still completely motionless, her eyes turned murderous.
…she wanted everyone to be buried with him.
Though the two elders were displeased by the disrespect offered to them by Max, they didn’t rush to teach him a lesson and instead calmly watched as he helped Nie Xiaolu to the porch of the house.
They didn’t do this because they cared enough to let him help Xiaolu but because they hadn’t figured out how strong he was. In case he was stronger than them, they didn’t want to embarrass themselves.
Max could almost read their thoughts and it made his rage boil.
They clearly didn’t think it was a big deal for Nie Haoshuo to injure and humiliate Xiaolu. Then he would see if they could remain so casual in a bit.
Step! Step! Step!
He turned around and walked over, his steps unhurried and his gaze focused on Nie Haoshuo, who tried to look fearless by staring back at him but as the distance between them decreased, he retreated behind the elders.
“You Gu boy, I advise you not to interfere in our family’s matters if you don’t want to bring more trouble to your family.” One of the elders, Nie Zhanhen, said in a warning voice.
“I doubt your family can afford another enemy. So quickly stop your recklessness and apologize for injuring Shou’er this instant.” The other elder, Nie Zhanhui, growled as he stared at Max coldly.
Step!
Max stopped just three meters away from them and finally shifted his gaze away from Nie Haoshuo and looked at them.
“You all did this to Haolong? Why?” He asked.
Nie Zhanhui glanced at unconscious Haolong and coldly spat, “This bastard dared to steal a precious treasure from the family. So he deserved what he got.”
“I see.” Max nodded, “Is the treasure you are talking about is a golden book?”
Both Nie Zhanhui and Nie Zhanhen raised their brows in surprise while Nie Haoshuo’s eyes gleamed and he shouted, “Elders, he definitely knows where the book is. Capture him.”
Nie Zhanhui and Nie Zhanhen exchanged a look, then…
Swoosh!
Nie Zhanhui moved and went behind Max, surrounding him from front and back.
“Tell us where he has hidden the Golden Book and we will let you go.” Nie Zhanhen said.
“No need.” Max shook his head and the next moment, he became a blur and…
Bang!
“Nooo–!”
The sound of bone cracking rang out, followed by a horrified scream that fell silent a moment later.
