Chapter 1001: I Told You
Chapter 1001: I Told You
Thud!
Max withdrew his hand and Nie Zhanhen, who had a horrified look frozen on his face, fell to his knees, then he thudded to the side, not making any sound or movement.
Both Nie Zhanhui, who was standing behind him, and Nie Haoshuo, who had been standing behind Nie Zhanhen, stared at their unmoving companion on the ground and a chill seeped in their heart.
Nie Haoshuo stiffly raised his head and looked at Max, who stared back at him expressionlessly and asked in a daze, “You… killed him?”
Swoosh! Swoosh!
Almost as soon as the words left his mouth, he shot back, his hand reaching out towards Haolong on the ground, while Nie Zhanhui also moved at the same time but he didn’t rush towards Max, instead… he rushed toward Nie Xiaolu sitting on the porch.
The scene of Nie Zhanhen being killed in one strike had terrified them. Knowing Max wouldn’t spare them and they were strong enough to resist him, they instantly decided to take Nie Haolong and Nie Xiaolu hostage.
Unfortunately for them…
Swoosh!
Just as Nie Haoshuo had raised his head, Max had lunged towards him because he had noticed his pupils dilate in Haolong’s direction.
Thus just as Nie Haoshuo reached down to grab Haolong who wasn’t laying far from him, Max appeared next to him and…
Bang!
“Gahhh!”
He kneed him in the abdomen, knocking the air out of his lungs and causing his eyes to almost pop out.
Thud!
Swoosh!
Even as Nie Haoshuo fell to the ground, clutching his stomach while trying not to pass out from the pain, Max turned on his heels and shot toward Nie Zhanhui who was just over ten meters away from Xiaolu and less than five meters away from him.
Nie Zhanhui heard his nephew grunt in pain and excitement surged through him.
‘Yes, Shou’er, keep him busy for a few moments.’ He shouted in his mind as he pushed his speed to the limits. Once he got his hands on Xiaolu, he would be safe and might even be able to kill this Gu bastard.
A ruthless glint flashed in his eyes.
While Nie Zhanhen wasn’t his biological brother, because he was the son of his uncle and was similar in age, they grew up together and had a bond no weaker than that of blood siblings. So how could he not be enraged seeing him be killed in front of him and how could he not want to avenge him?
Swoosh!
However, when he had only crossed half the distance between him and Xiaolu, he heard a sound behind him and a chill ran down his spine.
Without hesitation, he threw himself to the side. His plan was simple, he was more vulnerable with his back facing him, so he wanted to turn around.
Unfortunately…
Bang! Crack!
When his feet had just left the ground and his body was shifting sideways, a fist whistled over and smashed into the back of his neck. The powerful impact instant snapped his spinal cord and before he even fell to the ground, he had died.
Thud!
His corpse smashed into the ground a moment later and Max stopped himself after taking a few steps, coming face to face with Xiaolu, who was staring at him wide-eyed.
He glanced back at Nie Haoshuo who was still convulsing on the ground and asked, “How do you want him to die?”
“No…” Nie Xiaolu snapped back to her senses and hurriedly shook her head, “He is the patriarch’s son. If you kill him, the family won’t let you off—”
“If I don’t kill him, won’t they still do the same?” He said. Immediately Nie Xiaolu’s gaze immediately landed on two elders’ corpses and she fell silent.
“So tell me, how do you want him to die?” Max asked again.
“I… don’t know.” Nie Xiaolu shook her head.
“I understand.” Max nodded then he turned around and walked away.
“Ahhrggh! Please… don’t kill me…” Nie Haoshuo forgot the crippling pain shooting throughout his body when he saw Max walk over with his blurry vision.
Max stepped past him without even looking at him and crouched beside Nie Haolong before placing his fingers on his neck to feel his pulse.
Phew!
A few moments later, he exhaled in relief. While it was extremely faint, he still had the pulse. But then his brows furrowed because Haolong needed urgent treatment or he would surely die.
Taking a breath, he stood up and walked over to Nie Haoshuo.
“You are very lucky that I can’t afford to waste time on you.” He said as he crouched beside him.
“Thank—” Nie Haoshuo felt intense relief wash over him when he heard this and opened his mouth to thank him while inwardly thinking he would definitely take revenge, but then he felt Gu Chen raise his hand, his fingers straight and joined together.
Ba-Dum!
His heart skipped a beat as a premonition arose in his heart. The next second, he saw Max stab his hand downwards, then felt his fingers, hard as iron, pierce his neck.
Puchi!
Blood burst out and sprayed on Max’s face but he ignored it and stabbed his neck three more times until he was decapitated.
“I told you…” He murmured as he stood up while staring down at Nie Haoshuo’s corpse, “I would tear your head off.”
Right then…
“What happened here?” A voice rang out. Max and Nie Xiaolu turned toward the person who just spoke—Zhou Yue.
Nie Xiaolu gulped her saliva, not able to speak after watching the gruesome sight.
“We need to leave.” said Max, not answering her quest.
Zhou Yue swept her gaze across the courtyard, seeing the corpses and her bloody and unconscious son and immediately nodded, “Okay.”
Not long after, Max—his face now clean off blood—walked out of the house while carrying Nie Haolong. Zhou Yue and Nie Xiaolu followed him, supporting each other. They didn’t take anything with them… there was nothing dear to them in the house.
When they approached the estate’s gate, the guards’ duo frowned, wanting to stop them but when Max shot them a murderous look, they stiffened and didn’t dare do anything but watch them leave.
“Something bad has happened.” The guard whose nose Nie Haolong had broken earlier muttered, his heart palpitating. The other guard was also feeling uneasy.
They had seen Nie Haoshuo going to Nie Haolong’s house with two elders. They didn’t return but Gu Chen had left with Nie Haolong’s family.
Seeing Nie Xiaolu’s injured shoulder and blood on Gu Chen’s robes, it wasn’t hard to imagine what had happened.
“Should we… inform the family?” the injured guard asked.
“You think we can do that after letting them leave?” the other guard murmured, his face scrunched up in frustration.
“Then what do we do?” The injured one anxiously asked.
“We have to inform them that we weren’t involved in whatever had happened so they wouldn’t blame us. But we can no longer appear before them…” said the other guard, then he let out a deep breath, “Thankfully the Nie family looked down on us and didn’t let us bring our family here. Otherwise it would have been difficult for us to escape without being noticed…”
…
An hour later, a Nie family member returned from the outer market. When he didn’t see the guards, he frowned but then noticed a parchment nailed into the wall right next to the lantern.
Curious, he walked over and read it. Instantly, his pupils constricted and he hurried to Nie Haolong’s house where he saw Nie Haoshuo and others’ corpses and his heart trembled.
“What ruthlessness!” He growled in rage. A moment later, he hurriedly away to inform the family.
