Tonight, Tie Xiong was having a hard time sleeping.
It wasn’t just because he had returned home early and thus was trying to sleep early but also because his jaw was broken and the pain was keeping him up. Apart from this, he was also seething with rage because the reputation he had built so painstakingly was ruined today.
‘I wish the Liu and Song families would give you a painful death.’ He sneered when he remembered how both families had summoned him and his companions and asked about Gu Chen.
“But it wouldn’t feel as satisfying…” He murmured under his breath. He really wanted to kill Gu Chen with his own hands, unfortunately though, he wasn’t his match. Thus, he had to be satisfied with the fact that he would be killed soon.
After feeling the sadistic pleasure at the thought of him dying a painful death, he frowned as he recalled what the Chubby had told him.
‘That cowardly fatty. Why did he give him our correct addresses?’ He instinctively gnashed his teeth in anger and felt a sharp pain as a result.
‘Damn that bastard! I have to suffer this pain for several days.’ He raged in silence for a while before his mind refocused on the previous thought and he sneered, ‘He should be too busy hiding from the possible assassinations from the Liu and Song families to come trouble us. Still though, it would have been better if I had stayed outside for a few days—’
Crack!
Right as this thought crossed his mind, he heard a crisp cracking sound and his heart skipped a beat because he knew this sound was of the wooden lock breaking.
He hurriedly got out of his bed and ignoring the pain in his jaws, he opened his mouth, “Who is—”
Creak!
Before he finished, the door to his room was pushed open and black figure appeared before him and he heard, “If you don’t want yourself and your family to die, keep quiet. If not, shout as much as you want.”
These words were spoken in a very calm tone and precisely because of that, Tie Xiong felt a chill run down his spine.
“Who are you?” He asked in a low voice.
“Oh?! You don’t recognise my voice?”
Tie Xiong’s eyes widened and his heart skipped another beat because he finally recognised the voice. How could he not when he was just thinking about him?
“Y-Young Master, I’m—”
“Tie Xiong, you bastard. Who did you invite so late in the night?” An angry voice interrupted him and Max’s eyes flashed in the darkness of the house.
“Is it your mother?” He asked.
“Y-Yes, Young Master. Just give me a moment. I’ll tell her not to disturb us.” Tie Xiong hurriedly said and was about to get down from his coat when he heard Max say, “No need. Let her come.”
‘Hm?’ Tie Xiong realized this Gu Chen likely intended to use his mother to coerce him and expression darkened, though it wasn’t visible in the darkness,
Right then, he heard his mother’s footsteps coming closer.
Thud!
“Young Master, please—” He hurriedly got down the coat and fell to his knees.
“One more word from you and you won’t see the tomorrow sun. If you doubt my words, try speaking again.” Max cut him off, his voice low but cold.
Then he ignored him and looked to the side where he saw a middle-aged woman walking over with a small lantern in her hand, her brows furrowed in displeasure.
When the lantern’s light illuminated Max, she was about to scold him but then her eyes narrowed when she noticed his clothes—the expensive robes with some blood stains on his lapel–and deep wariness appeared on her face.
She quickly walked over and bowed deeply while saying, “Young Master, if you my unworthy son has somehow offended you, I plead you to be magnanimous and forgive him.”
Max’s gaze swept over her. She wasn’t beautiful but wasn’t ugly either, though she was a bit chubby and a head shorter than him in height. Currently dressed in a worm out, loose nighty type dress, she gave off the same mature charm that ordinary married women in poor areas on earth did.
His eyes flickered with a hint of hesitation and he asked, “Who else is in your family?”
Tie Zhongli shivered but she didn’t dare lie. “I have a younger daughter too. She is sleeping right now, Young Master. Please forgive us. Don’t—”
“Your son dared to lay his filthy eyes on my dear sister and was planning to force himself on her. This much is more than enough for me to kill him. But now that you have seen me, I’ll have to silence you too.” Max coldly cut her off, “You have just three breaths of time to decide whether you are going to bring your daughter here or want to die alongside your son.”
Tie Zhongli shivered more violently when she heard him. She didn’t doubt that he would do what he said. After all, he was clearly someone from a cultivation family and people like them were worth nothing in their eyes.
The thought of using the City Lord’s name crossed her mind but seeing how he had come here at night, he clearly had made sure he wouldn’t be caught in the investigation, which she believed was unlikely to take place.
While the City Lord mansion tried to maintain the law and order, more often than not, the officers ignored when servant class people like them were killed or disappeared. Even if someone complained about it, it was of no use because unlike the cultivation families, they weren’t permanent citizens of the city. So it was too much of a useless hassle for them to investigate such case.
“One breath…”
Max’s cold voice snapped her out of her despairing thoughts and she raised her and looked inside the room and saw Tie Xiong sitting on his knees, his head lowered.
“You bastard! See what you have done. Are you happy now?” she growled as she stood up.
Tie Xiong didn’t dare to speak, afraid that Gu Chen would really kill him and he didn’t dare meet his mother’s eyes because what he wouldn’t be able to endure what he would see in them.
“You!!” Tie Zhongli seethed in rage when Tie Xiong didn’t react but then she heard Max say ‘Two Breaths’ and she took a deep breath.
“Please wait, Young Master. I’ll… bring her.” She said through gritted teeth before walking back to her room.
She didn’t want her daughter’s purity to be lost because it would be too difficult to get her married, but her desire to live was stronger.
Ba-Dum!
Suddenly her heart skipped a beat and she stopped in her tracks before she turned around and asked with a pale face, “Y-Young Master… you wouldn’t kill us after… right?”
“You won’t believe no matter what I say, but yeah, I won’t kill you. Now hurry up and bring her. I don’t have time to waste.” Max expressionlessly said. He wasn’t a villain and therefore wasn’t feeling good about what he was about to do but he had no choice.
‘Fuck, I’m no hypocrite. It’s not about choice but because I want to complete the quest and earn Lust Points while doing so.’ He told himself and his slightly wavering mental state immediately stabilized.
As Tie Zhongli went to bring her daughter, he thought of something and asked, “How old is your younger sister?”
When Tie Xiong didn’t answer, a disgusted look appeared on Max’s face and he said, “You can speak just this one time.”
Tie Xiong trembled in rage and slowly raised his head, glaring at him with his bloodshot eyes.
Let me know if you don’t like what is Max is about to do.
