Chapter 1002: Urgency
Chapter 1002: Urgency
“HOW DARE HE?!!!” An enraged shout rang out from the Patriarch’s Residence and echoed across the entire Nie estate.
The Nie family member, standing before the Patriarch Nie trembled, afraid that the Patriarch might strike him dead in his rage. So he kept his chin stuck to his chest and his eyes on the floor.
Swoosh!
The next second, he heaved a sigh of relief because Patriarch Nie ignored him completely and rushed out of the residence.
But right then, Patriarch’s wives, the youngest son and his two daughters rushed into the hall and began asking him what had happened, what had made the Patriarch so angry.
Gulp!
The man gulped nervously, especially when he met the First Lady, Nie Haoshuo’s mother’s gaze.
…
It hadn’t been much time since the night had fallen, so let alone the cultivators who were used to cultivating late into the night, even the ordinary people hadn’t fallen asleep yet and those who had, they woke up from the shout and their expressions became solemn.
Something significant had happened and it wasn’t good.
While the lower ranking family members and servants began feeling uneasy because if a storm swept through the family, they would be first to suffer, the authority figures of the family—Elders at the peak of Muscle Refinement and Blood Condensation realm immediately rushed to the Patriarch’s residence.
Swoosh!
However, when they arrived, they saw Patriarch Nie’s family surrounding a man.
“What happened? Where is the Patriarch?” Asked the first elder, a peak Blood Condensation realm cultivator.
He was in his late fifties and already had greying hair. Because he was already past his prime, he no longer had the hope of breaking into the Bone Tempering realm, something he desperately wanted all his life. This made him quite temperamental and more often than not, he supported a stern expression on his face.
In the family, there might be people who weren’t afraid of the Patriarch but there wasn’t anyone who wasn’t afraid of him because they didn’t know what could trigger him.
There was one exception, though.
“First Elder…” Nie Haolong’s youngest sister, Nie Xiaowan, burst into tears when she saw him and rushed towards him before throwing herself into his arms.
The first elder carefully caught her and lifted her up on his arm.
“What’s wrong, Wan’er?” He asked, his tone soft and his always stern face filled with concern.
He had three sons, but no daughter. When Nie Xiaowan was born, the Patriarch had made him her godfather and he unwillingly accepted.
But as years passed and he began spending time with her since the Patriarch was always busy with family matters or his cultivation, he slowly came to like her and began treating her as though she was his own daughter. When something bothered her, he would always find some way to make her happy and seeing her smile, he would feel better.
Now that she was sobbing uncontrollably against his chest, he felt his heart clench and he inwardly swore to return the smile to her face, no matter what.
“First Elder, wah! That uncle… he says someone killed my eldest brother. Wah!” Nie Xiaowan cried harder as she told him.
The First Elder and everyone else’s pupils constricted when they heard this.
“You, tell us what happened in detail.” The Second Elder, a woman in her late forties, ordered the man.
“Yes, Second Elder.” The man nodded and slowly told them about the missing gatekeepers, the latter and the scene he saw in Nie Haolong’s house.
“Nie Haolong…” Everyone frowned in confusion. Then they realized who he was talking about and their expressions darkened.
“I told you all to eradicate those scourges or at least expel them. But you…” The First Elder’s temper flared and he stared at Nie Zhanfeng in the crowd, “…you stopped us and forced the family to keep them. Now see what has happened.”
Nie Zhanfeng sighed inwardly but his expression didn’t falter under everyone’s angry gazes and he calmly said, “It would be best not to talk about the past or some uncomfortable truths would be mentioned and I’m sure none of you will like it. So let’s just focus on what has happened and find a way to resolve it.”
“What’s there to think about?! Everyone involved in Haoshuo and the elders’ deaths must be killed.” The First Elder snapped.
Nie Zhanfeng frowned and said, “Shouldn’t we at least go and see the crime scene before passing out the judgment?”
Before the Elders could respond, a bone chilling voice sounded from behind.
“No need.”
Swoosh!
Everyone turned around and what they saw made their pupils constrict, then made their expressions darken.
The Patriarch was walking into the hall carrying a headless corpse of Nie Haoshuo in his arms. The reason they knew it was Nie Haoshuo’s was because the brutally severed head was sitting on the corpse’s abdomen.
Step! Step! Step!
The patriarch walked in step by step until he reached the middle of the hall and placed his eldest son’s corpse on the ground.
“My son and the two elders have been killed in cold blood by Gu Chen, Nie Haolong, Nie Xiaolu and Nie Zhansen’s widow.” He stated as his bloodshot eyes swept across everyone, “In the morning, we would go to the City Lord’s mansion, report the crime and then… take revenge.”
“If the Gu Family dares to shelter the murderers, we’ll destroy the entire Gu Family.” The patriarch announced and his words made everyone’s expression turn solemn. Some even felt some hesitation because this would definitely result in some losses. But it was clear the patriarch was thoroughly enraged and wouldn’t listen.
As if to confirm their suspicion, his gaze stopped on Nie Zhanfeng, “Any of you who dares question my decision this time or try to shield the murderers in any manner will be a traitor of the family and my foremost enemy who I would not spare, no matter the cost.”
Nie Zhanfeng had wanted to appeal to listen to Nie Haolong’s side before deciding the punishment but hearing this, he could only sigh and drop the thought.
‘Brother Zhansen… I can no longer protect your family. Forgive me.’ He lamented.
…
In the Gu Estate, Max ignored his family and elders’ questions and asked his mother to have Nie Haolong treated and Nie Xiaolu and Zhou Yue settled. Then he immediately left and headed towards the Tie Xiong trio’s houses, his face expressionless.
Because the City Lord mansion didn’t entertain the civilian matters after the nightfall and the Nie Family could come for revenge before making an official report to the mansion, he knew he only had time until the sunrise.
If he hadn’t reached Bone Tempering realm by then, he, Haolong, Xiaolu, Zhou Yue and even his entire Gu Family would be slaughtered.
While moving through the streets at a fast speed, he summoned his status screen and clicked the (+) symbol behind his cultivation. By the time he reached his first of three targets’ house, his cultivation had increased by one layer and stabilized properly.
[Cultivation: Blood Condensation, 5th Layer]
[Lust Points: 60,000]
‘13,30,000 Lust Points…’
He calculated the points he needed to reach the Bone Tempering realm and took a deep breath, ‘I can do this… I have to do this.’
With that, he put his hand on the house’s door and pushed.
Crack!
With an audible crack, the lock snapped and the door opened.
Phew! I’m back guys!
Let me know if you don’t like what is Max is about to do.
