Chapter 1031: Patriarch Mi’s Gruesome End

“Then are we… still going to face him?” The other of the two asked, his voice trembling with fear. He had lost his will to face Max and the same was true for his companion.

“Of course, we are.” Patriarch Mi said firmly, though a hint of hesitation flickered in his eyes.

“Have you lost your mind to greed, Patriarch Mi? Didn’t you see he just killed a mid-stage Tier 4 beast? I doubt you would have been able to do it.” The man snapped, then he turned around to leave, “Go ahead if you want to die, I’m leaving.”

Each of the beasts Max killed so easily was stronger than him. If even after seeing that, he still continued to target him, he would be the stupidest person alive.

The other person also shifted, as if to follow him out while Patriarch Mi’s brows furrowed tightly and he was about to stop them.

Right at that instant…

“You three rats, come over here.” A cold but calm voice reached their ears.

They looked over and saw Max had finished killing the last of the seven beasts and was now standing amidst the corpses with the bloody saber with its tip broken resting on his shoulder and he was looking in their direction.

Instantly, the duo burst into sprints and began rushing away, their hearts beating with fear.

Patriarch Mi’s expression darkened. He then looked at Max and saw how injured he was and how his chest was heaving, showing he was significantly tired after the battles he had went through, his eyes lit up and the small desire to retreat vanished.

“Boy, I have to say you are strong.” He said as he began walking over, then his tone changed, “However, you are far too arrogant and it will be your undoing.”

Max’s lips slowly curled up into a smirk and he said, “I would have you repeat these words in a while.”

Patriarch Mi’s expression darkened. He then sighed, “Truly, you are far too insolent. It seems your parents didn’t teach you any manners.”

The calm and casual expression vanished from Max’s face at these words.

“I have decided.” He said.

“You want me to ask what you have decided? You truly overestimate yourself.” Patriarch Mi said, his lips curving into a satisfied grin when he saw his infuriatingly casual expression vanish.

The distance between them had shortened to just 200 meters now and though the visibility in the valley was very poor, with their cultivation they could see each other’s faces quite clearly.

Max stared into his eyes and said, “It’s important that you ask, old man. Or you will surely regret it.”

The small bit of glee Patriarch Mi was feeling vanished instantly when he heard these words.

“I have decided something too.” He said through greeted teeth. He didn’t know when was the last time he was so infuriated.

“Tell me, I want to know.” Max said as he also began walking towards him.

“I’m going to tear off your hateful mouth before killing you. Then I’ll go to your family and kill that wretched woman who gave birth to you and everyone else related to you.” Patriarch Mi said then he suddenly rushed towards him. Arriving before him within a few moments, he smashed his mace towards Max’s shoulder.

The next moment, however, his eyes almost popped out of their sockets because…

Pat!

Instead of trying to parry the attack with his saber, Max had raised his free hand and casually caught the mace.

“I only wanted to give you a painful death, but your words changed my mind.” Max slowly said as he stared at him with dark murderous rage swirling in his golden eyes, “Now I will torture you so much that you’ll be begging for death but I would not grant it to you. Then I’ll go to your family, will cripple your male progeny and enslave the females so they could slowly pay for your blasphemous words.”

Ba-Dum!

Patriarch Mi’s heart skipped a beat and regret uncontrollably arose in his heart. He, however, wasn’t regretting cursing Max’s mother or threatening to kill his family but the fact that he let his greed consume him and he didn’t retreat earlier.

“You… How can you be so strong—” He quivered in terror.

A ruthless kick to his lower abdomen was Max’s response.

Patriarch Mi’s eyes bulged out in pain but a hint of excitement also flashed within them as he released his grip on the mace and was sent flying.

The moment he landed on the ground, ignoring the pain, he spun on his heels and began rushing away.

Max, who had already seen through him, instantly caught up to him.

“Hm?” Max frowned in thought then stabbed the saber on the ground beside him. He then bent down and grabbed Patriarch Mi’s left hand.

Make sure to feel every bit of pain properly, alright?” He said and the screaming Patriarch Mi’s eyes widened in horror and he began to thrash wildly. However it was of no use as Max’s foot on his back was firmly keeping him in place.

“Alright. I’m beginning.” Max said after his thrashing settled a little.

Crack! Ripp!

“Arrgghhhh!”

Patriarch Mi’s scream tore through the silent Dark Valley.

Half an hour later, Max left the place and headed deeper into the valley.

Not long after he left, a three meter tall horse beast walked over.

It stepped on an eyeball and crushed it into paste, then it looked in the direction Max had left. After making sure he wasn’t coming back, it began munching on Patriarch Mi’s severely mutilated corpse.
