Chapter 1041: Anxious Younger Sister and Second Mother
Chapter 1041: Anxious Younger Sister and Second Mother
A while earlier…
Swoosh!
Max passed by Gu Lan, Gu Yinyin, his second sister-in-law, Li Xiaomin and Gu Rong’s residences and headed straight to Zhao Ziyan’s residence. When he passed by Gu Ruolan’s residence, he told the Gatekeepers standing guard outside her residence to inform her about his return.
“Patriarch!” The female Gatekeepers outside Zhao Ziyan’s residence bowed when they saw him.
“Mother’s inside, right?” He asked.
“Yes, Patriarch.”
“Good.” Max began to enter the residence, then thought of something and asked, “Have you had lunch yet?”
“Not yet, Patriarch.” Answer one of the two, feeling a little moved that he cared enough to ask.
After he was officially appointed as the Patriarch earlier in the morning, the Elders had decided to stop living as carefully and miserly as before. The return of the two female gatekeepers outside Zhao Ziyan and Gu Ruolan’s residences was its reflection. Slowly, all main line’s residences and the Blood Condensation Elders’ would have Gatekeepers stationed.
While this was a positive change, Max didn’t particularly like it because now he would have to find excuses to visit his mother, Gu Lan and his second sister-in-law’s residences and would have to be careful when having sex with them.
“Alright. Go have lunch and rest a little. You must have gotten tired after standing in the same place for several hours.” He said with a benevolent expression on his face.
The girls wanted to say that they were Muscle Refining realm cultivators and standing still for several hours wasn’t exhausting for them but his care moved them and of course, it was beyond their station to argue with him, so they obediently bowed their heads and turned around to leave.
“Take those two guarding my Second Mother’s gate too.” Max said before entering the residence.
Zhao Ziyan had already heard his voice and had come out in the courtyard. When she saw, she heaved a deep sigh of relief, “You are back.”
Max walked over to her and pulled her in his embrace, “Yes.” He then whispered in her ears, “You were worried?”
He could feel her heart was beating faster and faintly sense her emotions fluctuating.
Hearing this, Zhao Ziyan could no longer keep a calm front. Tears welled up in her eyes, her lips trembled and she choked up as she grunted and pressed herself deeper into his embrace, “Mm.”
“I’m sorry.” Max apologized, feeling his heart clench.
“No, it’s not your fault—” Zhao Ziyan said.
“It is.” Max interrupted her, “I should have told you I had reached the mid-stage of Bone Tempering before I left. If I had, even after you heard the rumors of Liu Bashan and Song Heiran going after me, you wouldn’t have been worried.”
Zhao Ziyan’s eyes turned cold and she slowly pulled her upper body away from him to look at him and said in a venomous tone, “So those two indeed went after you? Those bastards, they truly are seeking death!”
A smile involuntarily appeared on his face when he saw her get angry because it was all due to her concern and love for him.
Zhao Ziyan noticed his smile and her brows furrowed, “What are you smiling about?”
“Nothing.” Max shook his head and said, “They were indeed seeking death. I have killed Liu Bashan already and will soon take care of Song Heiran too, so don’t get angry over them, alright?”
“What? You killed him?” Zhao Ziyan asked him in surprise.
Since she knew he was in the mid-stage Bone Tempering, she wouldn’t have been surprised if he did it when he was facing Liu Bashan alone, but there were four others according to the rumors. They definitely couldn’t have just waited for him to fight him one-on-one.
If Max could hear her thought, he would have been amused because exactly that had happened.
“Yes.” Max nodded and then decided to come clean about his current cultivation so she wouldn’t worry in future if something like this were to happen again.
“I killed another of them too. He was the Patriarch of the Mi family, who had recently advanced to the Seventh Layer of Bone Tempering.” He said and just as Zhao Ziyan was about to express her shock, he added, “Also, I’m now a Marrow Cleansing realm cultivator.”
Zhao Ziyan stared at him, too stunned to speak.
…
A short while later, after Zhao Ziyan’s shock had abated a little, Max explained how he reached the Marrow Cleansing realm.
“…Chen’er… You must not tell anyone about your Cultivation Art.” She said after a moment of silence, her expression grave. Then she added, “Don’t tell Lan’er and others either no matter how much they ask.”
Then thinking something, she said, “In fact, I’ll talk to them and let them know not to ask you.”
“…”
Max stared at her and almost questioned whether she thought they could make him tell them if he didn’t want to. But then he realized… they could… in the bedroom and kept silent.
Right then, Max sensed something and hurriedly released his mother before moving a few steps away from her.
Right as he did, the Second Elder arrived before the residence’s still open gates and just as he was about to call out, he saw them.
“Second Elder? What’s up?” Asked Max as he walked out of the residence.
Before the Second Elder could respond, Max glanced in the distance and saw the crowd of Elders led by the Third Elder coming over.
Soon, they arrived and seeing their expressions, Max felt a headache coming.
Then he shrugged and before they could say anything, he announced, “Elders, I have two pieces of good news for you.
First, I have eliminated Liu Bashan. And second, I am now…”
…
“…Patriarch… He is now a Marrow Cleansing realm cultivator.” The Second Elder announced to the crowd, a hint of disbelief and other complicated emotions swirling in his eyes.
“WHAT?!!” Everyone shook and for a moment thought they had misheard him.
“Is that… really true?” Someone couldn’t help but ask.
“It is. Now don’t crowd here, go and do your things.” The Third Elder impatiently said before leaving the place. The Second Elder and others followed him.
A while later, the rest of the people also scattered while animatedly discussing Max’s sudden increase in strength. It was only normal that they wouldn’t be able to digest this news so easily.
After the Elders left, Gu Ruolan, Gu Yinyin, Gu Lan, Gu Rong and his wife and Max’s second sister-in-law gathered in Zhao Ziyan’s residence.
Gu Lan and Li Xiaomin prepared tea for everyone and after filling their cups, they took their seats around the table in the courtyard under the shade of a tree.
No one, however, touched their tea cups and their curious and astonished gazes remained focused on Max. The only exception was Zhao Ziyan.
Gu Lan and even Gu Ruolan stared at Max, feeling uncomfortable deep in their hearts. Gu Lan was even angry when she imagined her brother having sex with who knows which women to increase his cultivation to the Marrow Cleansing.
At the same time, both of these women were feeling nervous too because since he had gathered all the family like this, he most likely was going to tell them how he reached the Marrow Cleansing. If he did it, wouldn’t everyone know it when they spent time with him?
