Chapter 944: Disappeared

Chapter 944: Disappeared

She already knew she had made a mistake by slapping him and might suffer for it later, but when she heard him say he might want to kill her later, the seriousness of her situation finally dawned on her and her face turned pale.

“Hmph!” The man hurrumphed, “I didn’t know you were the cunning type, but it’s of no use. You are done.”

He said while taking out his Identity Badge.

“Oh, you want to call the Disciplinary Hall Disciples’ over?” Max asked, then smiled and held his hands behind his back, “Go ahead.”

His attitude made the five frown, and they got a bad feeling, but this didn’t stop them from lodging the complaint against him.

Max ignored them and turned to look at Kayla and Nia.

“Thank you Ms. Kayla for helping her.” he said. He had seen her go against them even when they threatened her with her family and this impressed him deeply.

“No need to thank me. As Rima’s friend, I did what was right.” Kayla shook her head.

Max nodded, then turned to Nia, “What’s your name?”

“I-It’s Nia, Young Lord.” Nia answered, feeling flustered.

After she saw him trounce Isolde in the arena, he had become someone extraordinary to her. Just standing in front was enough to make her heart race, not to mention now that he was speaking directly to her.

“It’s nice to meet you, Nia. And I’m sorry that you had to suffer because of me.” He gave her an apologetic smile.

Nia’s eyes widened in disbelief, Kayla also had the similar reaction, but hers was much more subdued, seeing him apologise to a servant.

“N-No, no. Please don’t apologize, Young Lord. It’s not your fault. It’s these bad people’s.” she hurriedly shook her head.

“Hmph! Do you want to die?!” A cold snort echoed and an aura pressed down on Nia as soon as she finished speaking.

Max frowned. He wanted to step in but because he couldn’t utilize his aura, he felt a bit helpless.

Fortunately, Kayla was there. She immediately released her aura and protected Nia before pushing back the other aura back.

Argh!

One of the three male disciples grunted and took a step back—he was the one who had attacked Nia.

Max looked at him expressionlessly before shifting his gaze away.

The man’s heart shuddered, ‘Fuck. How stupid of me. Why couldn’t I stay put?’ he berated himself.

While he was from the Grimheart Faction, he knew he was nothing but a pawn of not much value. So, he couldn’t really rely on the faction’s protection.

Therefore, it was not advisable for someone like him to offend those stronger than him, both in strength and background.

This was why rarely any low-ranking member of any faction would go out of their way to antagonise someone from an enemy faction. In fact, when their superiors weren’t watching, they were quite friendly with each other.

‘Should I find him later and apologize?’ The thought crossed his mind but he discarded it. If the Grimheart Faction found out about it, they would make his life worse miserable if they didn’t kill him outright.

He didn’t know that even if he had apologized, it wouldn’t have made a difference because had already sentenced them to death. Not only them, almost everyone of the Grimheart Faction he had come across in the past few days were on the list as long as they had tried to make things difficult for him.

He just needed to recover his strength. Then he would eliminate them.

[You shouldn’t have hit her, Sir Max.] Kayla transmitted.

Max responded with a faint smile, “You are Rima’s friend. No need to be formal with me. Just call me Max.”

Kayla raised her brows. ‘Is he really not afraid of trouble?’

She knew with the Violet Peak backing him, the Grimheart Faction—unless they pulled off the same stunt as last time—wouldn’t be able to kill him, but they could use the rules of Hall to bind him and make things difficult for him.

When this happened, he wouldn’t have time to cultivate at all. So, logically, he should try his best to not give the faction any opportunity to target him.

Unless…

She thought of something and her eyes flickered with solemnity.

Max inwardly shook his head when he saw her reaction. Even without reading her emotions, he knew she must have thought he was doing this because Violet Peak was ready to clash with the Grimheart Faction.

Well, he couldn’t blame her for thinking this since it would be difficult for those, who didn’t know him well, to think of the real reason—he was enraged. Ever since the battle with Isolde, he had been seething and the fact that he couldn’t do anything about it only made him more angry.

So, while he normally would have tried to hold back, when he saw they were trying to make things difficult for Kayla and Nia, he slapped her, no longer thinking of the bigger picture.

Of course, this didn’t mean he had done it mindlessly.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

He really hadn’t.

He turned around to look at the several people in disciplinary hall’s robes rushing over.

He recognised the green-haired man in lead—he was Isolde’s Elder Brother he saw in the Disciplinary Hall that day.

“Who filed the complaint?” Ivan Grimheart asked as soon as he arrived.

“I did, sir.” The group’s leader stepped forward, then pointed at Max, “He attacked my friend without any rhyme or reason. You can see the handprint—”

The man’s words caught in his throat when he pointed at the female disciple who Max had slapped because… the palm print had vanished without a trace.

“You… Where’s the print?” he shouted at her. “Did you remove it with your mana?”

The female disciple was stunned.

Just what was he talking about?

She scanned her cheek with her Divine Sense and blood drained from her face.

“T-This… How?” She muttered, her lips trembling. She hurriedly turned to Ivan and said, “Y-Young Lord. I really didn’t treat it. I was even trying to maintain it. I-I don’t know how it—”

Ivan’s expression turned cold and he snapped, “You dare to file a false complaint. Detain them.”

“No. Please, listen to me, Young Lord. I really don’t—”

“Take them away.” He coldly said, ignoring her words completely.

Then, he turned to Max, stared at him for a moment then left snorted and left without saying anything, leaving Kayla and Nia who stared at Max in amazement.

“How did you do it?” Kayla asked.
