Chapter 948: Brought Out of the Forsaken Land
“Phew!” Belen was first surprised, but then exhaled in relief and almost fell to her knees. It felt good to be alive.
She then looked at Leticia and saw her hovering four feet above ground, her eyes closed and breathing even as she rapidly absorbed the dark energy seeping out of the hut’s walls, roof and the ground.
Gulp!
Belen gulped nervously and her heart almost stopped beating when she looked at her because she felt as if she wasn’t looking at Leticia, her sister and best friend, but an entity so powerful, so supreme that merely looking at her was a sacrilege and she would be punished for it.
She wanted to move her gaze away but it was as if her eyes were glued to Leticia.
Slowly, her heart stopped beating, her face turned pale and the spark of life in her eyes began flickering, seemingly on the verge of dying out – once it did, Belen would die.
Right then…
[Close your eyes, sit down and try to sense this energy.] Leticia’s voice sounded in her head and helped her regain her senses.
Quickly, she closed her eyes.
Ba-Dum!
Now free from the strange but powerful pull, her stagnant heart once again began to beat and her blood started to circulate again.
Scared but relieved, she sat down cross legged and after hesitating for a long while because she was afraid to do anything now, she decided to believe Leticia and began trying to sense the dark energy.
To her surprise, even though the hut was bursting with this energy, she couldn’t feel its existence at all.
‘No wonder she said to try.’. Belen though, took a deep breath to calm her mind and concentrated.
What she failed to notice was that when she inhaled, a tiny strand of energy entered her mouth and spread throughout her body, merging with her mana veins and entering her Dantian.
[You sure about this?] A voice rang in Leticia’s head.
[Yeah. She is family. Whatever is mine, is also hers. So, give her as much Curse Essence she can handle.] Leticia responded.
[It’s your decision. Hope you won’t regret it.] The voice said which tickled Leticia’s curiosity but she didn’t ask anything, not wanting to divert her attention any more than necessary to matters other than absorbing the energy and remolding her body.
After a long time, the voice sounded in her again, [I have brought you out. Quickly get stronger, leave this… and go find… the Dark Sorcerer Hut…]
Leticia’s brows twitched slightly but she couldn’t extricate herself from the deep focused state she had fallen into.
It was only several days later that the dark energy stopped seeping out of the hut that she slowly woke up.
She felt disoriented for a few moments, then she muttered, “Good bye, Master. I’ll sure to live up to your expectations and will surely go find this Dark Sorcerer Hut.”
As soon as she finished speaking…
Crack! Crack! Crack!
The hut cracked and disintegrated and Leticia found herself sitting in front of a small creak in a garden.
She glanced around and her brows furrowed. She released her Divine Sense and swept it over a large area but she still failed to find Belen.
“Did you send her to some other place, Master?” Leticia muttered. If her master had done this, she knew it was for Belen’s benefit but it displeased her.
She was already away from her beloved and her friend Rima, now the only person she was close to had been sent away.
Swoosh!
Suddenly she sensed movement behind her. Before she could turn around, she heard a curious voice
“How did you enter my garden, little Lady?”
…
In a place far away from Leticia, Belen found herself on the roadside near a forest. Several bandit-looking men were eyeing her.
Belen slowly stood up and seeing the look in their eyes, she sighed. ‘Killing wasn’t the first thing I wanted to do after leaving that place.’
…
The moment Max sensed his connection with Leticia, several people throughout the Forsaken Land were alerted.
Swoosh!
Barren Rivervale appeared before the spatial tunnel, his brows furrowed as he tried to sense the anomaly he had felt just now in the space, but failed to find anything which only made him more solemn.
In the ancient temple, the Grand Watcher also opened his eyes. After closing his eyes for a moment, he opened them and sighed. “Troublesome times are ahead.”
…
“Is something wrong, Young Lord?” Nia asked upon seeing him stop and frown.
Max tried sensing his connection with Leticia and Belen for a few moments more before he shook his head, “It’s nothing. Come, let me take you to Rima.”
A while later, they arrived at the foot of the Violet Peak and Max took her into the Medical Hall.
When he introduced Nia to the Medical Elder and told her he brought her here so she could keep Rima company, Medical Elder allowed him to take her to Rima, but she made sure to tell me that Nia wouldn’t be allowed to leave the Medical Hall until Rima was released and they got the go-ahead from Grand Elder Rowan.
Both Max and Nia agreed to it.
Rima was surprised to see Max return so soon. When she saw Nia following him, and realized he had brought her here so she wouldn’t be lonely, she felt her heart warming.
Max felt guilty when he sensed her emotions because he brought her only after seeing her.
‘I’m really a blockhead. I should’ve brought her or Miss Kyla here sooner,’ he thought.
After a while, he returned to his cave abode and took out one of the two Thunder Essence Stones he had now.
While he could slowly replenish the Thunder Energy Traces by absorbing the ambient Thunder Mana, it took a lot of time. Besides, he already had one stone on him and now that he had bought the second, it was time to use it.
After meditating for a while to calm down, he slowly activated his Law Comprehension and Bloodline Sense along with the Thunder Energy Traces and focused all of them on the Thunder Essence Stone in his hand.
Immediately, Thunder Essence in the stone churned and began oozing out. Max carefully absorbed it and when it didn’t harm him, he sighed in relief, ‘It works!’
Then, he began absorbing the essence without holding back and pouring it into the Traces which greedily sucked in every bit.
