Gu Yinyin’s pupils quivered.

Ever since she could remember, she had never heard him raise his voice like this, nor had she ever seen this scary, cold look in his eyes.

‘Third brother… he is different.’ She thought and felt a sense of relief wash over her.

Max’s expression stilled, then his face became expressionless.

“What happened?” he asked, his voice devoid of any emotion.

Gu Yinyin was too angry to notice his change.

“First brother fortunately survived, but he was seriously injured. Because we didn’t have enough savings left, we could buy better healing medicine, so he is still bedridden. Those greedy bastards, to think I used to respect them. I wish they rot and die.” Gu Yinyin cursed.

Max slowly nodded, “They will definitely rot and die. I promise you that.”

“Huh?” Gu Yinyin stared at him, but before she could think or say anything, Max walked away, “I’ll go check up on first brother. You go do your things, but don’t push yourself too much.”

“Who is it?” A female voice with evident traces of exhaustion in it sounded from within the room.

“Sister-in-law, it’s me, Gu Chen.” Max answered.

No response came, instead, he heard someone jump to their feet and the sound of furniture moving. His sister-in-law was trying to block the door.

He pursed his lips, then said, “Sister-in-law, it’s really me. I have recovered and have come to check up my brother.”

Still, there was no response.

He inwardly sighed, ‘I should have brought the Third Sister along.’

Right then, his sister-in-law’s voice sounded out.

“What did you tell your first brother when you were seven years old?”

Max thought for a moment, then calmly answered, “I told him I would become a Sky Ascension realm cultivator and become the city lord so no one can bully our family again.”

He knew the door would open now because only he and Gu Rong knew about this.

As expected, a moment later, the sound of furniture moving away from the door sounded.

Then with a ‘clack’ sound, the lock was unlocked and the door slowly opened, relieving his first sister-in-law, Shui Wuhen, suspiciously eyeing him from the gap in the door.

When she saw it was indeed Gu Chen, she became surprised and opened the door fully.

“You recovered?” She asked,

“Yes.” Max nodded, then gestured towards the inside of the room, “May I come in?”

“Ah, yes, come in.” Shui Wuhen stepped to the side, giving him room to enter.

Max nodded and stepped inside. Immediately, he saw his first brother lying in bed, staring at him with a relieved look in his eyes.

His face was pale and gauze was wrapped around his chest.

“How are you feeling, Elder Brother?” Max asked, arriving at the bedside.

“Don’t worry about me, I’ll heal soon.” Gu Rong smiled and looked him up and down, “You have recovered, this is great.”

Max talked with him for a while before taking his leave. The moment he stepped outside the room, his expression turned frigid.

From the moment Gu Yinyin told him about the assassination attempt, his heart was filled with rage. He was now Gu Chen. So Gu Chen’s family was his family.

How could he not be enraged when someone had tried to kill his family member?

After seeing Gu Rong’s condition, his injury that hadn’t healed much at all even after a whole month, his pale face and bloodshot eyes from the all the pressure and worry about his family’s future, he became more enraged.

‘I need Lust Points, millions of them…’ He thought.

Both Liu Bashan, patriarch of the Liu family, and Song Heiran, patriarch of the Song family, were Bone Refinement realm cultivators of peak Third Layer.

If he wanted to kill them, he needed to be in the Fourth Layer of the Bone Refinement realm at least.

Why did he think so when the system told him he would be a level stronger than the strongest cultivators in the same realm?

Well, his reasoning was simple.

He had yet to learn any combat techniques and therefore wouldn’t be able to utilize his strength properly. So if he was going to face them relying on just his brute force, his cultivation needed to be a minor realm higher than them to ensure he could dominate them thoroughly.

And just to increase his cultivation to the Ninth Layer of Muscle Refinement, he needed 1,36,000 Lust Points if the required points followed the same pattern.

Then if Blood Condensation needed ten times more Lust Points like Muscle Refinement did compared to the Skin Refinement, he would need at least 1.42 million Lust Points. Following the same pattern, he would need over a million more to advance to the Fourth Layer of Bone Refinement. This brought the total required Lust Points to around 2.6 million.

This was a lot of points and he needed to gather them before the Lius and Songs tried anything funny again, meaning as soon as possible.

But Max didn’t feel intimidated. Including the six women in his immediate family, just the Gu family had around twenty adult women. If he got the similar amount he got from his second sister-in-law, Li Xiaomin, from them too each day, he could hit this target in less than a week.
