Chapter 1637: Wedding?
Chapter 1637: Wedding?
"What are you going to do next?" The Pope asked Sera.
"I don’t know yet. They are still discussing it. There are a few options, such as finding the portal and taking the fight to them." Sera shook her head helplessly. "However, I don’t know what will happen after that."
"I see. The situation has gone this bad, huh?" The Pope sighed. It was a shame that they had to place their hope on the youngsters.
However, it looked like they had no choice. The younger generation had far surpassed the older generation.
"At a time, people are questioning who our rival is. We don’t have any more rivals, which causes us not to have any more improvement. Maybe your path is the correct one. There is no need for rivals. Our enemies are much stronger than anything we can imagine. We should have focused on the aliens instead of the people around us."
Sera didn’t say anything, but there was one missing piece in the Pope’s words. They didn’t know that the aliens were that much stronger.
They thought they had done a great job fighting the aliens. They believed the elite class aliens were the strongest.
So, once they became world class summoners, they thought they had no other matches.
Had they known about the incoming threat, they would probably have become even stronger. A few of them might have formed their divine bodies.
Nevertheless, it was too late. Even if they wanted to continue their progress, they couldn’t do it much more boldly like when they were young.
Sera asked, "So, what are you going to do after this?"
The Pope smiled. "Thanks to you, the Holy Kingdom has become more united than ever. I believe we will be able to overcome anything.
"Hence, we will focus on strengthening our defense. As long as we have enough people working together, we will be able to crush any enemies.
"While it’s true that we can’t do much on the front line, we can at least defend ourselves to not make you worry. That’s why please focus on what you’re doing. We will be fine."
Sera’s expression turned solemn. She used to study under the Pope. She learned a lot of things, but she never thought she would be talking to the Pope as an equal here.
The Pope seemed to have struck down the opposition, doing his best to restore order within the Holy Kingdom.
There were also saints and saintesses who would assist him.
Hence, Sera nodded, stood up, and bowed deeply. "I understand. Thank you very much for everything you’ve done for me, Teacher."
The Pope smiled. "I hope the next time we meet again, you have reached the stage that mortals can only imagine."
...
The same thing was happening to Selena. The Sage and Count Ashton were sitting in front of her.
Obviously, after hearing what Selena had just said, Count Ashton was proud.
He never thought that his daughter would have surpassed their ancestors in this way. Back then, all his thoughts were just to let Selena summon a vampire progenitor.
It would then give the justification for Selena to become the head of the family. It would also break the stigma that the family had had for a few hundred years.
At that time, a world class summoner would be just a matter of time.
This time, Selena brought back the news that a world class summoner was nothing but a mortal limit. She planned to reach the level of vampire progenitors, if not surpass them.
"It must have been hard for you." Count Ashton looked at Selena, feeling helpless. It was unfortunate that he couldn’t help her.
Leyfon nodded in agreement. "Indeed. We adults should feel ashamed to let the youngsters carry us on their backs like this."
"That’s not true." Selena shook her head furiously. "Father. If not for your love, I wouldn’t be able to reach this step. I might not be able to meet Nathan or even summon Lilith.
"Teacher Leyfon, your guidance has allowed me to improve drastically in the past. You have laid the foundation for me to continue like this. I believe that is something to be recognized.
"I am here because of everything from the past, and I am very grateful to both of you." Selena lowered her head.
Leyfon smiled.
Count Ashton fell silent before asking, "So, when are you getting married?"
"Oh!" Leyfon’s eyes lit up. "This man right here. He is asking the real question."
"Ah, that’s..." Selena scratched the back of her head. "I believe it can wait until all this mess is over. If we prepare the wedding, it may end up taking too much time. We may not have enough time to improve and somehow stop the destruction of this world.
"And that’s why..." Count Ashton raised one finger. "How about I prepare it? You don’t have to think about anything else. Just leave everything to us, and we’ll handle it for you. All you need to do is spare one or two days for the wedding."
"..." Selena smiled wryly. "But there are other women as well."
"Don’t worry about that. We will also ask their families about this. Unfortunately, I can’t see my daughter have her own wedding, but this is the best plan I can think of.
"I will talk to the Flamante family, the royal family, and even the Holy Kingdom. I bet the Pope would like to lead the procession personally.
"The Dragon King shouldn’t be too hard to convince. Before you go, I really want to see my daughter wear a wedding dress." Count Ashton smirked.
"There are still Evelyn and the others..."
"As for them, I have no way to convince them. Only you can do it. However, just know that we will take care of everything."
Selena looked down, contemplating. On the one hand, she was happy to have a wedding. On the other hand, she wondered if it would become too much of a burden for the group.
They really didn’t have much time.
"I will try to talk about it with Nathan and the others. Please give me seven days. Don’t start the preparation yet. I don’t want to disappoint you."
"Sure."
