Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 1746: Brother

Chapter 1746: Brother

Once the four kingdoms understood the threat, they immediately convened a meeting. As expected, the best way was to receive help from the outside.

King Julius was the most vocal about it. They had Flora after all, so they had some assurance that other countries wouldn’t get a hold of them.

At the same time, it was the Azilia Kingdom’s principle to choose the option that allowed the kingdom to survive. Getting help from other continents allowed that survival.

Meanwhile, Nathan planned to send envoys to other continents. Unfortunately, the one who did the talking on the Qion continent was him. So, he had no other choice but to head there directly himself.

Unsurprisingly, Luna requested to be sent to Erendtall. She wished to meet her brother again, especially with the news that he had recovered.

After almost nine months, Gregory had fulfilled his promise to Nathan by saving Luna’s brother.

That was why Luna wished to head there immediately. Of course, she wasn’t going alone.

She came with Selena and Evelyn this time. Flora might have a better way with words, but her identity was quite sensitive.

If she came to negotiate, it would look like she was trying to pressure the opposing party to surrender.

That was why even when they were on the Gratzel continent, Flora remained as Nathan’s representative for the Azilia Kingdom, not any other kingdom.

Nevertheless, Luna simply rushed to the city where her brother was held.

Luna slammed open the door, looking at the person inside while panting.

Leon was sitting on his bed. His body was fine, but he had been severely weakened from all the treatment.

Leon was simply staring outside as though he were thinking about everything he had done.

"Brother... Ha... Ha..." Luna was tearing up. She had been thinking about what to do when they finally reunited. There were a lot of things she wanted to say, but when she encountered this chance, she realized that no words needed to be said.

Leon turned his head to Luna before smiling. "Luna."

"You... Are you alright?" Luna rushed to his bed, trying to check his condition.

"I’m fine. My body has been weakened because of the treatment, but my mind is completely sober. I think this is the first time I’ve been this sober for what feels like decades..." Leon looked back at the outside. "Luna..."

Luna could feel a rather distant atmosphere from him.

"I’m sorry for everything I’ve done to you. I might have sobered up, but all the memories remain. I know I have wronged you all this time, and there is nothing I can do to repay you."

"No, Brother..." Luna bit her lip.

"It’s true. I chased you away when you were just teenagers. I killed our parents and even did such a cruel thing to Uncle Crotto...

"The things I’ve done won’t be forgiven even if you kill me a thousand times. I’m your brother, yet not only did I fail to protect you, but I even hurt you.

"However, killing myself at this point is an act of cowardice. I have wronged a lot of people and caused so much suffering. That’s why I will turn myself in and face justice.

"In the end, this irresponsible brother has to leave you again..." Leon didn’t say these words because he wanted to live. If Luna wanted to, she could simply threaten the empire not to harm him.

However, he couldn’t do that. He used to be a duke. Before becoming one, he was a bright child who upheld justice. It could be said that he was a true nobleman.

That was why Luna admired her brother a lot.

Therefore, he couldn’t run away from justice. His heart didn’t let him. At the same time, he would also treat Luna unfairly again because of this action.

Luna was already crying, as she already knew Leon was going to be executed and she wouldn’t be able to do anything to convince him.

"Brother..." Luna gritted her teeth, wondering if there was another solution. She usually provided some solutions to the girls in the group. But at a time like this, her brain simply couldn’t think of a solution.

She didn’t want him to die. She asked Nathan to help him because she wanted her brother to stay alive.

But it would be a different matter if her brother were the one who requested it.

If Leon had chosen to die, there was no one to blame. Nathan had done his part, so she couldn’t ask for more.

Leon, on the other hand, noticed the ring on her finger. Luna had found her own happiness.

He didn’t want to taint that happiness with his own darkness. Getting executed like this would allow Luna to never have a cloud over her head.

If he said all those words, he was afraid of what Luna would do to prevent the execution. That was why he stayed silent even though the sister he loved so much was crying right next to him.

He was afraid that if he looked at her, his resolve would wane.

’Sorry. Even after everything you’ve done to me, I have to hurt you one last time... These hands have been tainted by so much blood that it can’t be washed away anymore. Even if I want to see the future you hold, the children you’re going to have... I can’t do it.

’I don’t want everything I’ve done to come back to you. All I hope is that in the afterlife, I can repay you for everything.’

Leon thought of another solution, which was using his own life to give her a heavenly ability. However, this ritual only worked if the person had accumulated great merit.

A lot of people had attempted it in the past, but they couldn’t give it to anyone because these people hadn’t achieved great merit.

That was why the only option was execution. He was ready to die. He regretted everything he had done, even though he had been controlled all this time.

Luna just wanted to tell him, ’Please don’t die.’

However, she couldn’t say it. She wondered if there was another way to solve her dilemma.

All of a sudden, a voice echoed from outside.

"I have heard everything, and I won’t allow it!"
