Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 1798: Ran Away

Chapter 1798: Ran Away

"Ah... Ah... Ah..."

"Hey kid! Buy me some weed."

Nathan just couldn’t comprehend what happened in this house. There were a bunch of strangers staying in this house, making a mess of it.

He realized that they might be the ones who had made such a mess before.

Some of them were with his mother in her bedroom. Some were just hanging around in the living room, half-naked.

Nathan didn’t even know whether to call this house his or just a whorehouse.

"I refuse." Nathan answered without hesitation.

"What did you say, punk?" The guy glared at him.

However, Nathan simply looked at him without any emotion. After being beaten up by his father, he couldn’t care less about any beating anymore. It would end soon. At worst, it would just lead to his death.

That was why Nathan just looked at him with such a dark gaze, as though he accepted everything the man intended to do with him, but he didn’t intend to follow him.

"You can take this money if you buy me some weeds."

"I refuse." Nathan gave the same answer.

"Listen here, you little shit. Do you want to get beaten?"

Nathan just stared at him, not backing down.

"Oi, you better leave the kid alone. That bitch said yesterday that this kid was beaten by his father all the time. He probably couldn’t care less about being beaten again. His father is now in prison, after getting caught red-handed by the police, though." The other guy spoke.

"Tsk." The guy clicked his tongue. "Just take this money and buy me some weed. I bet that bitch doesn’t even feed you, right?"

"I refuse." Nathan still gave the same answer. No matter how desperate he was, there were things he didn’t want to do.

After living with his father, he had banned alcohol, drugs, and cigarettes from his life. He didn’t intend to walk the same path as his father. Even if he were going to be killed, he wouldn’t accept it no matter what.

Flora muttered, "Is this the reason Nathan didn’t even touch a wine even though with that body, it wouldn’t even impact him?"

"..." They looked at each other. Even when they dined, Nathan would pick grape juice rather than wine. He avoided anything that might have alcohol.

They once teased him about him being a kid for not drinking such a thing, but Nathan didn’t mind their teasing.

After seeing the kind of stuff that destroyed both his parents, they finally understood why he was so adamant about staying clear of anything like that.

In the end, Nathan, who didn’t even receive money to eat, had to scour for food once again.

He didn’t know whether this was a blessing or a curse. At the very least, he thought that his life had been better since he didn’t have to endure the beating anymore.

It allowed him to see something that he had never seen before.

"Mama. Can I try that?!"

"Of course, darling!"

There was a mother and a kid in a fast-food restaurant. The kid asked for a new menu, and his mother agreed without hesitation, buying it for him.

When Nathan took a look to the right, he saw a girl accompanied by her parents, holding their hands with a big smile on her face as they headed to their car.

"..." Nathan couldn’t help but bend his knees and lean on the wall. While watching the cars passing by, he wondered if his life could be any different.

He heard something from inside.

"Open your mouth wide. It’s coming. Aaaahhh!"

"Aahhhh! Mhmmm!"

There was no need for Nathan to see what happened. He could already imagine it.

Nathan just stayed there for another five minutes before walking back home.

He couldn’t help but look at the sky. Despite having such a blue sky, it looked like a monochrome world in Nathan’s eyes.

He had a longing that had been buried in his heart. He used to hope that his father would change for the better.

When he sobered up, he would finally treat him better. After being beaten so much, the hatred turned into hollowness.

When his father didn’t get better, Nathan thought that his mother would one day come to save him from that hell.

Yet both his parents surpassed his imagination. His father had only gotten worse. He didn’t even know what his mother was doing.

Nathan thought his life was messed up.

"Should I endure this until I’m an adult? Then, get out of the house to find work somewhere and get done with all this?" Nathan muttered.

After looking at those happy families, Nathan couldn’t help but picture himself with a family himself.

He had given up being the happy son. Instead, he thought about becoming a good husband and a good father.

A picture of a perfect family formed in his mind. He wanted to be strict with his children, but he would also shower them with love.

He wanted to make sure that his children would grow not only stronger but also wiser. At the very least, he didn’t want them to become people like his parents.

If he could survive this hell for another few years, he would work as hard as he could to save up money and finally achieve his goal.

He longed for a family, but there was no need for him to be granted one. He was determined to create it himself.

He intended to prove that such a thing was possible even for a kid like him.

That was what he thought, but the more time passed in his mother’s house, the more he wondered if it was possible or not.

After all, the longer he stayed here, the more time he wasted instead of studying.

His mother neglected him, so he had time to go around and meet other kids. There were kids who didn’t even feel blessed and complained all the time, but he didn’t say anything to them and tried to learn from their books or notes.

After a while, Nathan finally took the first step in his life to change his life.

He ran away.
