Chapter 1829: The Great Mist
Chapter 1829: The Great Mist
"Very well." Nathan took out the book regarding the Summoning Link Expansion.
Misty Frost also took out the book from her coat.
Both of them checked the content of the books and thought the same thing. They could somehow work around it and establish a working technique.
"It looks like we’re both satisfied." Nathan smiled.
"Indeed."
"In that case..." Nathan turned to Thuka, as if implying he wanted to know more about the situation.
"If you want to know more about the Great Mist, let me explain it. My knowledge is more complete than him when it comes to the Great Mist," Hina interjected.
"..." Thuka wanted to complain, but he couldn’t exactly argue about her knowledge.
"The world has been releasing a mist so thick that you won’t be able to see what’s in front of you. To adapt to this condition, the Great Mist Tribe and the Night Tribe have skin that looks like the mist itself. However, the Great Mist Tribe is good at sensing what’s inside the mist, while my race is good at seeing inside the mist.
"The Forest Tribe may not have white skin, but they represent life in this world. Their bodies can absorb the mist like nutrients and grow.
"Why does the world produce mist? I don’t know about that, but my conjecture is that this world is alive. It has its own will. It’s producing the mist from time to time like blowing a steam out of its system.
"This is a cycle of energy in this world. The world will absorb the energy and release it in the form of a mist. Then, the people in this world will absorb that energy. When they die, the mist will be returned to the world and the cycle continues."
Nathan looked down, pondering. "What about the trees you used to trap the mist?"
"As I mentioned earlier, the Forest Tribe is capable of using the mist as their nutrients to grow. Actually, they aren’t the only ones capable of doing that. We too are able to do it, but the Forest Tribe takes it to a whole new level, which is why their appearance is like that.
"So, when we die, we will release that nutrients and form the trees.
"The warriors who have died in the past use this system to create the wall to trap the mist. In the end, this mist is our curse and our weapon at the same time. With the mist, we’re able to confuse our enemy, thus protecting our world all this time.
"We’ve been researching those trees for a long time and the conclusion remains the same. The trees produced by our bodies won’t absorb the mist from the air. Instead, it’s feeding the energy from the inside while releasing the mist naturally.
"You can think of it as a channel from the ground to the surface. Ever since the erection of that wall, the mist cycle has slowed down significantly.
"So, by creating a massive wall like this, we’ll be able to create a mist that will be trapped inside."
Nathan could imagine it. The sides of the trees facing outside would release it into the open space and get dispersed. However, the sides facing the inside could only release it in that area. Since it was blocked by the trees, the mist ended up getting trapped inside.
There were also a lot of trees scattered in the area, so those trees would release their mist as well, making it thick.
Nathan nodded in understanding. "I see. So, that’s the principle. But doesn’t that mean you can just plant the trees around the world and cover the entire planet with the mist? This will benefit you, right?"
"In a way, yes. However, there’s a problem with that idea. The trees from our bodies can use the mist as its nutrients, but the common plants here can’t. That’s why we’ve been storing food before the Great Mist arrived. The sunlight can’t reach the ground, so no plants can be planted."
"I see. Sorry, I didn’t think of that." Nathan almost forgot about the food.
"Please pay no mind to it." Hina paused for a moment before returning to the main topic. "The Great Mist will come in a few days according to its cycle. It can be faster or slower by two days.
"The Great Mist carries a large amount of energy from this world, which will be good for our growth, but it is also a double-edged sword after the invasion.
"Those portals that lead to the other world are also using the energy from the Great Mist to strengthen themselves. This way, the portals will become strong enough for god level aliens to reach this world from time to time."
Nathan thought for a moment before revealing the situation. "Well, Yog-Sothoth established the portals with that system. He created the portals and used the world’s system to power it up and gradually strengthen them."
"Gradually strengthening them? So that’s how it is..." Hina covered his mouth in surprise.
"Yog-Sothoth..." Thuka frowned. Nathan had shown it to him, so he understood the terrifying being behind the portals.
"It’s no wonder why those portals are getting stronger and stronger. Is it going to be strong enough to allow a supreme being to come and wipe us out?" Hina asked.
"Yes." Thuka nodded with a serious expression. "It might be their plan."
"Indeed. I’ve received a prophecy that we only have two chances to defeat them. This era or three hundred years later. At that time, the portals might have been completed and beings that can casually destroy this world just by descending can easily come to this place. If we reach that point, running will be the only option." Nathan nodded.
"Is that why you travel to this world?"
"This is just one of my stops." Nathan nodded. "I’m still far too weak to fight against such a being, so I intend to get stronger from a world like this by trading abilities. It would be good if you can join me, but even defending this world will help a lot. After all, they are spreading their forces across the worlds. As long as more worlds survive, they will have to continue splitting their forces."
"I see." Hina nodded in understanding. Regrettably, she also needed to stay in this world.
Thuka sighed. "In that case, let’s talk about the aliens that can threaten this world."
