Chapter 1846: Serious Change
Chapter 1846: Serious Change
Mae’s head hung low.
"I’m actually disappointed in you this time."
Those words were truly hard on her ears, especially because the person she loved the most was the one who told her about it.
Of course, Nathan disliked the fact that he had to tell her this, but it was for her sake. This was also a punishment for him to be unable to draw out that desire from Mae.
If he had been more honest before, Mae would have changed by now.
Nevertheless, it was better late than never.
Since the opportunity had presented itself, Nathan took this chance to tell her directly.
"Your power... might have more potential than the others. You may have looked down on your illusion too much. You’ve been using your power to support all of us, but I guess that’s also a failure on my part. I should have seen through your potential immediately." Nathan sighed.
"No, Master..." Mae was trying to stop him.
Nathan shook his head. "I had seen your legend. You might have lied a lot by using that illusion, so you might have subconsciously used it in a way to prevent yourself from lying again. I appreciate your willingness to not want to lie anymore, especially to me.
"However, illusion can become a reality as long as everyone believes in it."
"!!!" Mae’s body shook when she heard those words. It felt like a big door had just been opened in her mind. That door allowed her to figure out a lot of new things.
Mae was dumbfounded for a few seconds before she suddenly dropped to the ground. Her form returned to that of a fox as her energy started to circulate around her.
"Did she..."
"Did she just get enlightened?"
A lot of them were dumbfounded.
"That’s not fair, Master! You are supposed to reprimand her, not reward her!"
"If that’s how you reprimand her, you should also reprimand me. No, insult me, Summoner! Insult me harder!"
"You guys, that’s enough!" Nathan raised his voice.
"I’ll protect her, so you settle the problem with these kids." Tiamat moved to Mae and covered her with her wings.
Nathan nodded and used his teleportation ability to bring them one kilometer from their location.
"Not fair!"
"Not fair, Master!"
"I also want to get enlightened!"
They protested.
"I’m going to kick you all! This is a serious matter, and you’re still joking with me!" Nathan cracked his hands.
"We can do that later!" Garuda grabbed him, stopping him.
"I think we should beat them up first." Xolotl smirked. "I love beating them."
"I’ll follow you." Fenrir smirked.
"No, you’re one of the people I’m going to hit no matter what."
"W-Wha—!" Fenrir gasped in shock.
Suddenly, their bodies couldn’t move as though time had stopped.
"All of you, that’s enough. My lord, you also need to calm down. If you’re going to punish them, you should just punish them by making them miss their next chance." Ananta sighed. "That’s the best punishment of all the possibilities I’ve seen."
"What?!"
"Missing the next chance?"
"After telling us how we can be more useful, you’re going to deprive us of our chance?"
The divine beasts were startled and immediately shut their mouths.
"See?" Ananta smiled. "You have punished them a few times, and this is one of the most effective ones. But Fenrir’s best punishment is definitely cosplaying. You should make him wear something more embarrassing next time."
"What the..." Fenrir couldn’t believe it.
"Isn’t that good? Your summoner is treating you differently from the others. You’re a special existence to him, Fenrir." Ananta smiled.
"I think we have a different definition of the word ’special.’" Fenrir was speechless.
Nathan was a bit surprised. Ananta was actually handling all the mess with only his words.
"As expected of you, you’re even older than our former lord." Garuda smirked.
"I’m just living in those possibilities. Of course, that Yog-Sothoth is the same and his power is far above mine." Ananta sighed. "I can only tell you about the possibilities."
Nathan took a deep breath. "Anyway, it helps a lot. Since all of you have calmed down, let’s return to our previous topic. Mae will be punished as well, but that will be for later.
"I have to be harsh on her because I have been too lenient with her all this time. If I am not strict with her, she might not be able to improve further. God of Mischief, Loki, was able to fool the black cell. His power should be similar to hers, but the other party was not only a true god but also one of the few who could go against the black cell. So, I want her to get stronger from now on."
"Don’t you need to punish yourself?" Nidhogg asked.
"Right?" Orochi nodded in agreement.
"That’s not exactly his fault. He’s not your manager." Anubis snorted.
"I will punish myself. I’m not touching my wives for the next three days." Nathan sighed.
"!!!" All of them were startled. They knew how much he loved his wives. Unless they were training behind doors, Nathan would often visit them just to have a small talk or hug them. So, they knew how harsh the punishment was for him, even though the others would probably think it was a nonsensical punishment.
It looked like Nathan was serious about this change. Nathan knew how much he had to improve because of the black cell’s current strength.
That was why he also intended to be strict with himself.
"For now, the second winner will be either Orochi or Jinwu. Nothing happened in Jinwu’s case, so it wasn’t exactly a mistake. Orochi, on the other hand, contributed the most in battle. So, your scores are basically the same."
Nathan crossed his arms. "So, for second place... I think I’m going with Orochi."
"Yeshhhh!" Orochi cheered out loud.
"While it’s true that Jinwu didn’t make a mistake, your contribution wasn’t exactly that high. Sure, the mist covered this world, but Kun had been clearing it up again and again. You had so many chances, but you failed to utilize them."
"I see." Jinwu nodded in understanding. "I will improve next time."
"Well, you are still third. If those two can evolve with just two god level aliens, then you will get the third alien."
"Understood."
