"To think this place isn’t even enough to let me, Lord Frost, recover. It looks like this world really wants me to die."
Nathan frowned. "Nothing else? How did his flesh disappear? The ice should preserve his body."
Xolotl focused on controlling the Memory of the Dead, searching for the trace.
"Hmm? The ice here is... alive?" Xolotl widened his eyes.
"Alive?" Nathan was shaken. "What do you mean?"
Xolotl showed the next image. After fast-forwarding for some time, this person suddenly appeared to be writing down something.
Nathan was a bit surprised. He took another look at the skeleton, but nothing could be seen.
"The ice was eating his flesh and even the book?" Nathan gasped.
"Yeah." Xolotl nodded. "Let me pull up the memory of the book."
Nathan came closer to this person and carefully examined what he had written.
"I am Shakula."
"This..." Nathan frowned, recognizing the writing. "The language of Oxolfotle. Cthulhu has the language, but it doesn’t give me any other information, especially about this person’s world."
"I was born on the planet Cesis. I was born like any other person, but I refused to die like them. I fought the authority and became the world’s criminal, but other than killing those who came for my life, I had done no crimes.
"I stole from the authorities so that I could survive. I was able to awaken a power called Celestial Ice. Thanks to this power, I was able to defeat anyone who dared to come to me.
"However, those authorities were jealous of me and tried to get rid of me, but I continued to fight against them and finally became as strong as those authorities."
Nathan was narrating the writing in their own languages so that everyone could understand.
"Seriously? The authorities this guy mentioned..." Flora gasped.
"Yeah. Most likely, gods. The planet he came from had gods." Nathan nodded with a serious expression. "For some reason, the gods in his world seemed to be eating the citizens or something. Well, I can’t say for sure."
Nathan paused for a moment before continuing, "I became one of those authorities and professed myself as Lord Frost. With my power, I fought against them. However, they actually prepared a trap to kill me.
"I killed a lot of them, but they simply brought an army. My wife sacrificed her life for me, using her own life to bring me away. I couldn’t do anything as she suddenly threw me into a spacetime tunnel.
"I arrived on this planet. This planet must be a godsend. I thought I could be saved as long as I absorbed this planet. My wife’s blessing truly helped me, but it turned out I was wrong.
"This planet was not a blessing. This planet was alive. There was something buried under the ice, and that something was absorbing everything from this world.
"I tried to absorb the ice here and my power grew by leaps and bounds, but after absorbing too much, I realized that my body had been eroded by that being’s power. The next thing I realized, I wasn’t myself anymore.
"My flesh had been devoured completely. My power might have increased, but I couldn’t do anything.
"As a way to avoid death, I tried to fight, but it was impossible. Absorbing a portion of the energy here might be good, but absorbing for too long would create a connection with the being sealed in this place.
"As an act of desperation, I used the last bit of my power to condense an eternal source of my power.
"I hoped that someone who found my corpse could gain some benefit from my power. I didn’t ask much of you.
"I just wished to return to my homeland to find out the news about my wife. And hopefully, I could be buried alongside her in the place she was born. That was the reason I never ran away, even though I had the ability to leave my planet.
"I knew what kind of danger you would experience, but you could camouflage your power and enter the world without causing an incident.
"The authorities over there had formed a seal that turned the world into three layers. In the first layer, there were only common people who could be killed by those who lived in the second layer. The people in the second layer became the nourishment of those who lived in the third layer.
"Once you found my home, you could enter the third layer without any commotion because those layers created a wall that stopped the authorities themselves from feeling anything in the third layer.
"Just buried me there in an open space. It would be treated as being buried with my wife. It would have been good if you could just learn about my wife or myself, but I wouldn’t force you to do something that risky.
"Just a piece of advice: don’t ever suck too much of the energy here. You need to survive. This place... it might not be a normal planet. It might be a prison for an atrocious being whose strength was beyond anyone’s imagination."
Nathan’s expression turned grim. Flora gasped. "Am I going to be all right?"
"I think you are fine right now, but..." Xolotl asked Nathan. "Can I get an apple or something?"
"Yeah." Nathan took out an apple.
Xolotl used his power, draining the life out of this apple. Once it turned dry and pale, Xolotl dropped it to the ground.
To everyone’s surprise, the dead apple was melting into nothing as though it had been absorbed inside.
"!!!" Nathan widened his eyes in shock. "A terrifying being..."
"Yeah. This kind of power... It might be a true god or even stronger... It might even be an alien at the outer god levels." Garuda observed what happened.
"..." Nathan sighed. "I don’t know whether I should find it a relief or not after finding this planet is a prison rather than getting frozen because of a herb or something like some sort of cultivation thing. Then, it might lead to me finding out that the black cell is just an organism like a virus or bacteria in a human’s body, which means we’re inside a living being. My life is going to be hard if it’s like that..."
"You’re delusional." Xolotl rolled his eyes.
Before the others could react, he suddenly heard a voice calling.
"Trespassers of GXI-309, show yourselves!"
