Chapter 1902: Protocols
Chapter 1902: Protocols
"All right." Nathan smiled. "Everyone is ready, right?"
Selena and the others nodded.
"We will split into two groups. There might be another split, but it will be the decision of each team leader.
"Selena will be the first team leader. Her team members will be Alavenya, Evelyn, Bella, Seraphina, and Vivian.
"On the other hand, I will be the second team leader. My team members will be Flora, Noelle, Luna, Iris, and Machina.
"Depending on the situation, we might encounter big resistance from the locals, so I will let you decide whether you are going to fight them or not.
"Preferably, there will be peace or even trade. If it’s not possible, then escalate to a small fight. I don’t really want to wipe them out unless it’s the last option. Remember that it’s usually the higher-ups who are trying to cause an unnecessary bloodbath.
"Anyway, we will go to two separate portals. How is the little Machina going?" Nathan asked.
"I am here as well, Master." A cube shone and projected a hologram of Machina. "I have already shared my existence with all of their devices, so you can ask for my assistance directly. However, do note that the data in each device is not synchronized.
"So, I won’t know what the other knows. However, once we regroup, I can synchronize the information at that time."
Nathan nodded. "How about the satellites?"
"Everything is ready. There are three processes that need to be done after arriving at the new place. First, each of you has the portable satellites that will scan the surrounding spaces to get your current location. However, for now, I have scanned the first jump and gathered all the necessary data, which is stored on your respective devices.
"Once you find your location in this universe, you can start taking out the second satellite, the signal satellite. There will be an automatic system that sends signals across time and space to find the other party’s location. If it’s within the range, then it’s possible to remain connected.
"At the same time, this satellite can also make sure to let you stay connected to the entire team even if you split up to nearby solar systems.
"After that, the last step is the scanner. This scanner will orbit the planet you’ve picked to scan the energy level and other kinds of movements to see if there are any inhabitants or not."
Selena frowned. "If it’s about inhabitants, can’t we just check it directly?"
"Yes, but this satellite’s main purpose is not the inhabitants. It’s the aliens. If they are the real inhabitants, then they might have formed a civilization. However, there won’t be a lot of aliens staying on an empty planet."
"Fair enough." Selena nodded in understanding. "Now that I think about it, you’re talking about the energy level..."
"Yes, Mistress. This satellite will allow you to locate the portals. It can penetrate 1 kilometer deep underground, but more than that, it will be impossible to locate the portal. So, all the portals on the surface or hidden in the hill or a mountain can be located. This information will then be sent to you."
"That’s going to be very useful."
"Yes. Then, once you finish with this planet, you can move on to the next planet. The easiest way is to go to a portal and do the same protocols first. Then, you can return to the previous planet to visit another portal and do the same thing again."
"For what exactly? Can’t we just continue that way?" Sera asked. "I mean, there’s also a problem with the energy used to travel through the portal. It’s unstable for us."
"Yes. Which is why I have this." Machina nodded and introduced a small flying robot. "This small robot will fly through the portal and activate everything for you. Master has also enchanted it with his ability, and it’s allowed to store enough energy for protection and storage. In other words, this little robot will be the one to check the next world.
"If it’s not the correct world, then it will store everything back and return to the portal. All this process shall take about two hours. If it’s over three hours, please assume that this robot has been compromised."
Selena crossed her arms. "That’s convenient. At least Evelyn won’t have to spend too much energy to stabilize the portals. If something happens, we will go through the portal and retrieve it right away."
"What do you mean by not being the correct world?" Sera tilted her head in confusion.
"Our main destination this time is the Great Void, the only confirmed ancient battlefield. If you end up teleporting to a location further away, then it’s not the correct world."
"I see. So, no news about the other battlefields yet?"
"None yet. However, we have some suspicions. Those might be ancient battlefields, active battlefields, or simply anomalies. The data is on your device. Once you reach a certain point, it will alert you about this, and it will be up to you whether you want to check it or not."
"I don’t have anything else to ask." Selena had understood all the protocols and goals.
"What will happen if we find another battlefield?" Evelyn asked.
"If that happens, the alert will be sent to the other team. Of course, the investigation needs to be done first to see if the battlefield garners the attention of the other team. In case we are too far apart to connect to each other, then the party leader will have to make the decision."
Nathan added, "Just to let you know that I might have jinxed it or maybe not, but the Great Void seems to be alive and there might be creatures over there. If I have truly jinxed it, the black cell might have taken over these creatures."
"We know that already. It’s already weird to see Machina asking us about your jinx." Selena waved her hand down, telling him that it wasn’t a big deal. They were already used to his jinx.
Nathan smiled. "That’s the general plan. Do you have anything to ask?"
"No. If we have something to ask, we can just ask the little Machina, right?"
"Yes." Machina nodded. I will do my best to assist all of you."
"Very well."
"In that case, let’s continue our journey."
