Chapter 1924: Apophis
Chapter 1924: Apophis
Catalith turned solemn. "Of course I know that. Are you talking about the black cell?"
"So you know..." Nathan nodded in understanding.
"Yes. I know the one living, but I don’t know the creatures that have died. For now, the only one I know is the creature that is actively terrorizing this universe." Catalith confirmed it.
"The aliens and the black cell. What do you know about them?"
"The aliens are inhabitants of this universe. They can be said to be one of the oldest. They’re strong... unimaginably strong. In a way, they’re like us, but reign supreme because of their strength.
"That is also why the black cell finds them ’tasty.’ The black cell uses its body to live in this universe and control it to terrorize the universe. There is no telling what it really wants."
Nathan also didn’t know the black cell’s intention. If it wanted to expand the Great Void, it could use the aliens to actively expand the Great Void.
He wondered what the black cell wanted, especially with the fact that the black cell was trying to get rid of any beings threatening its existence.
Nathan shook his head helplessly. "Well, do you know any aliens? Like a friend or enemy?"
"No. The aliens are enemies because they’ve been controlled."
"Do you know where they are?"
"Not at the moment. We’ve been tracking them, but we can’t find them."
"Can you elaborate on that?" Nathan furrowed his brows.
"Now that I think about it, you also want information about the battlefields around here..." The elf goddess tapped her chin a few times, pondering her reply. "We’ve been trying to track the aliens’ movements. Once in a while, the portals they’ve created will become strong enough to withstand our existence.
"We use that chance to cross the portal to find them, but the more we travel, the more the resistance. In the end, we failed to reach the alien world.
"However, there are a few battlefields we’re actively using to farm alien cores. In the end, the alien cores are commodities that people want. They want to get stronger after all. Even I have devoured my fair share of core.
"So, no. I don’t know where the alien world is." She shook her head helplessly.
"I see." Nathan nodded carefully.
"That is actually a wise choice. Don’t do anything reckless or face their wrath directly." Garuda approved.
"Mhmm?" Catalith was confused.
"There are gods, much stronger than us. Just a single one of them alone is more than enough to kill ten of us. They’re called Outer Gods."
"That’s..." Catalith frowned. "How do you know? Have you been to the alien world?"
"No. I once fought them with all my comrades. Unfortunately, we lost. We couldn’t do anything against them despite having over a hundred gods."
"!!!" Catalith looked surprised. A hundred gods? This world only had seven gods, yet Garuda claimed that he failed to kill them even though there were so many gods on their side.
"They have existed for a very long time. Even my former master thought they had existed from the beginning of the universe." Garuda sighed. "Anyway, let’s continue."
"No, no. If you had fought them... did you manage to survive that battle? How did you do it?"
"What are you talking about?" Garuda tilted his head. "I’m already dead."
"But you..."
"My current master manages to bring me back. I’m currently in the state between life and death, but there’s a possibility of full resurrection. Nevertheless, this is the extent of what I can say." Garuda stopped her from gaining more information.
Catalith didn’t expect Nathan to have such a mysterious method.
Nathan raised one finger. "Let’s go back to the main topic. The Great Void. Do you have anything else to say about it?"
Catalith wanted to know more, but it looked like she couldn’t get it. Maybe she could get it later, but she had to satisfy Nathan first.
Catalith replied, "There is one. The Great Void is quite similar to a black hole, but at the same time, it’s also different. It absorbs everything, but it’s also expanding. The Great Void doesn’t have a mass, as if it exists just as a boundary... a living boundary.
"There are a lot of unknowns about the Great Void, but one thing is for sure. The creatures inside the Great Void... They’re more dangerous than the creatures we can find in this universe. If you find them, it’s best to destroy them completely.
"I don’t know how the black cell could even control the aliens, but it’s clear that these creatures are tricky. If we underestimate them, we will be the next targets.
"So, even though I really want to capture them alive or dead and research them, I still intend to kill them and burn them until there’s nothing left if I encounter them."
"I will note that." Nathan looked down, contemplating.
"Now that I think about it, you wanted to talk about something earlier. What is it?" Anubis asked, since the topic about the Great Void was over.
"Apophis. Do you know how it was born?"
"Hmm?" Anubis tilted his head in confusion. He replied, "There are a few theories. There are two more reasonable ones. The first one is that Apep has existed from the beginning of time. No one knows how he was born.
"The second theory is that he was born after Ra, but we know almost nothing about this. Just like the Chinese Yin and Yang, Apep existed to oppose Ra."
Nathan raised one finger. "What was Apep’s goal?"
Anubis thought for a moment. "His goal is to swallow Ra, destroy cosmic order, and plunge the universe back into a state of total, undifferentiated darkness..." Anubis looked down, feeling something was off.
"Huh?" Catalith noticed what was going on. "Destroying cosmic order and plunging the universe back into a state of total, undifferentiated darkness? And there’s a theory that he has existed from the beginning of time? Why does it sound like he’s born from the Great Void?!"
"!!!" Anubis widened his eyes and looked at Nathan in shock. "Summoner, you..."
"Yeah... I might summon Apophis." Nathan nodded with a serious expression. "He might be one of the keys to defeating the black cell."
