Chapter 1928: Catalith’s Research

"This is my lab." She opened the door. It was as spacious as the warehouse Luna and Machina had built. There were a lot of tools and cylinders filled with colored liquids. There was another separate section for the books and other things.

"Goddess Catalith." As soon as they heard someone opening the door, two girls rushed to the entrance.

Catalith waved her hand. "You may continue what you’re doing. Don’t disturb me or my gaze."

"Understood." They were also curious about the guests Catalith brought. After all, it was extremely rare that Catalith brought someone as a guest, not as a servant.

The last time she had a guest was thirty years ago, so their confusion was understandable.

Catalith pointed to the right side. "This is my research about aliens. This is the second thing I believe you’re interested in. This is my research on the black cell’s transmutation ability.

"When the alien requires a weapon, the black cell can generate a weapon by splitting its cell over and over again, right? There is also a case where it hardens the alien’s body or improves its regeneration and elemental resistance.

"The research is to figure out its power. I’ve come to a conclusion that the alien is actually following some sort of pattern. If the black cell is located only on one part of the body, it will become a part of their weapon.

"For example, if there are only black spots on their arms, legs, or heads, they’re usually using it to extend their bodies to create a weapon.

"If it’s located near the tentacles area, it will use the black cell to strengthen the tentacles because that will be their weapon. The last one is when the black cells are spread all over the body. This means they’re using the black cell to cover their entire body."

"!!!" Nathan looked up and recalled the aliens he had fought so far. "Now that I think about it, there’s indeed such a pattern."

"Right? Well, once we know what it is used for, we can make a plan. For example, if it’s going to use its arm like a blade, we can cut the arm first, maybe in a sneak attack or launch our most powerful attack right at the beginning so that we can take it down. This way, the alien won’t have anything powerful to attack us."

Nathan nodded in agreement. "Indeed. That can be done."

Catalith chuckled. "I’m thinking about using this research as the foundation of the black cell’s empowerment. How is it going to enhance the aliens and so on? Maybe we can find a way to slow down its regeneration and do other things."

"Well, have you found a way to remove the black cell from the alien’s body?" Nathan asked.

"Removing the black cell? What?" Catalith was dumbfounded. "Do you mean scraping it from its body? That will just cause the black cell to appear in another spot or kill the alien entirely."

Nathan shook his head. "No. I’m talking about separating the alien and the black cell. Once separated, the alien will survive while the black cell will die. Considering the black cell comes from the Great Void, it has no way to survive in this universe without a special method, in this case becoming a parasite."

"!!!" Catalith looked shocked. She looked down, contemplating. "If that’s the case, we can actually approach it from a different direction. I mean, can we remove it mid-fight? If we can remove it, the black cell will die immediately. The lower-level aliens won’t have enough intelligence to understand what’s going on, but the aliens at our level?"

"That’s what I’m thinking. If we can do it mid-fight, can we suddenly turn the enemy into our ally?"

"Can we even turn those aliens into our allies?"

"I believe we can. Actually, there are some aliens led by an Outer God currently resisting the black cell. In fact, there are three of them living in my world. One is teaching me how to cross the portal and which places I should go. The other one is still monitoring the world, while the last one is in its slumber."

"All of them don’t have the black cell?"

"Yep."

"That’s interesting. I didn’t know there were aliens like that. So, this information..."

"Yeah. It did come from them. There was a resistance led by an Outer God—Nyarlathotep—currently fighting against the black cell. My current goal is to regroup with him and see if we have any chance of defeating the other Outer Gods, including the black cell." Nathan nodded with a serious expression.

Catalith finally understood why Nathan was searching for an active battlefield or even an alien world.

It looked like he really intended to defeat the black cell. While it was true that the alien cores could become a catalyst to their power, they would be better off not having the black cell to terrorize them.

Hence, Catalith asked, "This method to separate them... Can you perhaps share it as well?"

"That’s the problem. You see. I’ve encountered a few worlds as a merchant. We trade my knowledge for theirs. Right now, you want my summoning method, but that might not be the wisest thing to trade. First of all, it can only be linked to this world. In other words, all the beings you can summon are just the beings in this world."

"Ah!" Catalith covered her mouth in surprise. If that were the case, they had a very limited number of people to summon. "You mean the people living in the past?"

"Yeah. That is if their information is still stored in this world." Nathan nodded.

"I see. That’s... troubling." Catalith pondered for a moment. "As for this separation method..."

"You can use it." Nathan nodded. "I mean, I do have an alien in my storage. However, I haven’t created the liquid to separate them, so I haven’t done it yet."

"!!!" Catalith suddenly thought of an idea. "In that case, why don’t we just use it as an experiment? I can help you create that liquid."
