Chapter 1945: Preventing the Berserk
Chapter 1945: Preventing the Berserk
Catalith took out a few gems and activated her ability, tossing them at the same time.
Suddenly, chains formed and wrapped around the aliens.
The alien was unleashing everything it had, trying to destroy the chains but to no avail.
However, because it was just a restraint, the alien didn’t sense any threat that could kill it from these chains, it was confused as to what Catalith was trying to do.
"It’s impossible to capture an alien like this, especially with that kind of strength. The best way is to conduct the experiment now." Catalith turned to Nathan.
The alien opened its mouth, releasing a cry, but it didn’t hear anything. There was another barrier completely isolating the alien from the outside.
Nathan said, "That’s true. Unless you completely drain its energy and seal its body, the alien can cause massive destruction. Not to mention it can still go berserk."
"Yeah. Even with my chain, it can probably restrain this alien for an hour or two." Catalith nodded.
"Do you have the liquid ready?" Nathan asked.
"Of course. You’ve translated the research, so I’ve tried to make it. It might be quite hard for other worlds, but in this world, transmutation is what we’re good at. It didn’t take long for me to recreate the required liquid." Catalith smiled.
Nathan looked at the alien. The chains had completely restricted it, but there was still a chance that the black cell would force the alien to go berserk when it was being threatened.
So, he warned her, "Just watch out for the black cell."
"I got it." Catalith nodded with a serious expression.
"I can freeze the alien if you want." Flora raised her hand.
"No. That won’t be necessary. The black cell is covering its entire body, so I need all its skin to be accessible. Besides, I don’t know what kind of reaction it will have if we lower its temperature, but thanks for the thought." Catalith waved down her hand, asking Flora to stand down.
"All right."
Catalith flew toward the alien. Nathan and the others were following right behind.
Machina was recording everything, so they wanted to see whether the treatment was effective or not.
Catalith then took out a massive container that stored tons of liquid. Even though she only had less than a day to prepare, she actually managed to create so much liquid.
Catalith then lifted up the liquid with her spiritual energy. Before she began coating the liquid on the alien’s body, Catalith took out a blue gem and used her transmutation before mixing it with the liquid.
Then, the liquid suddenly turned into a snake. This snake was wrapping the alien’s body as though it was trying to strangle the alien.
The alien struggled, but to no avail.
"Hmm?!" Catalith widened her eyes in shock. The process of separating the alien and the black cell alone should take some time, but she could already notice the difference because of the transmutation she used earlier.
That gem didn’t just change the way she controlled the liquid, but also turned it into her own power. That meant she could feel any change that happened because of this power as though she were touching the alien directly.
"Interesting." Catalith squinted.
The black cell was gradually having its own connection to the alien severed. Since it was gradual, the process should take a few hours, especially for an alien of this size.
Still, the liquid was really effective.
Catalith said, "The method works. It really separates the black cell and the alien."
"Yeah. I’ve done it a few times, so I understand. There’s one problem, though. It looks like the black cell is not going to let this happen without a fight." Nathan smiled, pointing at the alien.
The alien suddenly unleashed a tremendous power, trying to break free from the chains or disperse the liquid.
The black cell was giving its power to the alien so that it could have enough power to destroy the chains.
To the alien’s surprise, the snake actually burst from the inside. This burst was controlled because all the liquid ended up getting splashed on the alien’s body.
Originally, the liquid was in the snake form, coiling around the alien’s body. It wasn’t a problem, but it only separated the black cell on the skin that it touched.
She understood perfectly that there was a high chance that the black cell would go berserk because of it.
Hence, she used this shape so that when the alien was about to go berserk, the snake would burst and coat its entire body. The suppression would create a counter reaction on the alien’s body, weakening that berserk.
It looked like her plan worked. The alien’s energy was suppressed.
When Nathan saw this, he couldn’t help but recall the time Selena used her power to do the same thing.
Back then, the alien was about to go berserk and regenerate its body, but Selena used her control over blood to cause the blood to go berserk and explode from the inside, which diminished the power of that berserk.
This was the reason why fighting the god-level alien felt easier than they originally expected.
It turned out Catalith already knew about this method and applied directly.
Nathan couldn’t help but ask for confirmation. "So, you’re using that sudden burst to suppress the berserk?"
"You can say that." Catalith nodded. "In the end, the black cell and the alien are two different organisms. However, when the alien goes berserk, the black cell is sending forth its own power to the alien to amplify its power, correct?"
"Yes."
"However, the alien needs time for its body to adjust to that power before assimilating it into its own body. The time window is not that big, but you should be able to see the small gap to exploit.
"When the alien starts to adjust itself to the black cell, we just need to introduce something different to the alien. This way, the alien has no choice but to also adjust what we introduce, which ultimately causes the portion of adjustment leaning toward the one we introduce. That will diminish the amount of power coming from the berserk."
