Chapter 1946: The Source of Power
Chapter 1946: The Source of Power
Nathan looked down, contemplating.
This confirmation was more than enough to make his life easier.
What he was worried about wasn’t all these aliens. Instead, he was worried about what would happen when strong aliens like Yog-Sothoth or Azathoth ended up going berserk. He couldn’t imagine the level of power they would utilize after going berserk.
That was why being able to restrict this power, even just a little bit would be extremely helpful.
With the berserk getting contained, the alien failed to break through the chains.
"Huuu..." Catalith let out a breath of relief. "We’ll see how long it takes to remove the black cell. From what I can see, you definitely want to speed up the progress.
"I’ll try to look for a method to speed it up. Even right now, I don’t know if my chains will last long enough to restrain this alien. If the alien is any stronger, I alone won’t be enough."
"That’s understandable." Nathan crossed his arms. "Other than speeding up, maybe you should add some liquid that can restrict the berserk or slow down its regeneration."
"I would if I knew anything like that. To be honest, the current effective method recorded for restricting their regeneration is basically divine power... and it’s not just any divine power." Catalith shook her head helplessly.
"That’s too bad. I guess I’ll ask around. Hopefully, we will be able to find something." Nathan sighed.
"Yeah. From what I can see right now, the black cell looks like... a plant. It has roots piercing the alien’s skin or even organs. If we scrap the black cell forcefully, those roots will end up pulling up their skin and flesh.
"On the other hand, your liquid is loosening the grip of those roots and gradually pulls it up with pure buoyancy. It’s quite a marvelous idea."
Nathan frowned. "Why is that?"
"The black cell is a terrifying existence, right? If we try to change the black cell genetically, it might develop a resistance.
"However, this liquid acts like a lotion and separates it by using pure buoyancy. It won’t change the black cell, so we will definitely be able to use it all the time."
"Oh!" Nathan nodded in understanding. "However, the process itself is quite slow, right?"
"That’s true. It won’t be pretty effective against powerful aliens. I can handle this one, but Outer Gods?" Catalith sighed. "No chance."
"Still, it might be good to have an alien army."
"Alien vs alien." Catalith raised her eyebrows. It was a quite brilliant idea. "Now that I think about it, you mentioned something about the alien’s resistance against the black cell..."
"Yeah. If we can help them recover their army, we might be able to have those aliens work for the so-called resistance. In the end, we will need an army to fight against this race." Nathan smiled.
"Very good. The lower level ones will be filled up with these guys, while the elites like us will take care of the big ones." Catalith couldn’t help but agree with this plan.
Nathan knew he would need the alien resistance group to defeat the black cell. He intended to meet Nyarlathotep as well, considering he was the one who held the most important key to defeating Yog-Sothoth and Azathoth.
He originally intended to have their resistance as well as all the allies he had made send their armies to deal with the low-level enemies.
He would then take out the strong enemies one after another.
It would be quite tiring, but this was the only chance. After all, these aliens had terrorized so many worlds constantly for so long. The fact that the alien army was still more than enough to do it felt like the black cell had an unlimited supply of soldiers.
That was why he needed an army to at least create a path for him to reach Azathoth or Yog-Sothoth.
However, Machina was definitely something outside his prediction. If Machina ended up creating a robot army, they would be able to somehow equalize the exchange.
When he found Machina, he couldn’t help but think, ’Hehe. On Earth, there’s a game between plants and zombies. Can’t I have robots versus aliens or something?’
He was still working to reach that point since Machina had to produce everything from the beginning before they could even produce a single android.
Nevertheless, Nathan and Catalith waited patiently, observing every single movement. Noelle remained standby, protecting them. Luna and Iris had dragged Machina elsewhere since they weren’t interested in it, while Flora was just keeping an eye on Nathan so that he didn’t flirt with Catalith as requested.
After one hour, they started seeing a massive change. The black cell was gradually coming out of the alien’s body. As soon as that part left its host, it shrank significantly.
"Hmm? That’s interesting." Catalith narrowed her eyes.
"What’s interesting?"
"You see? The black cell shrinks as soon as it is removed from the alien. That means the roots they’re using to get attached to the alien are also providing them with nutrients.
"Since the black cell originated from the Great Void and there is no way for creatures like that to survive in our universe without any host means everything is connected.
"The black cell requires the nutrient from its host to maybe genetically protect itself... No, wait. The alien’s ability to change its body so that it can go berserk might come from the black cell itself.
"The black cell is using the nutrients to constantly adjust its body to fit this universe. Without getting the nutrient, the black cell won’t survive.
"Still, the black cell can spread across the body. It shows that the black cell has a very high reproduction rate. If my theory is right, the reproduction rate depends on how much nutrients it takes from the host. Normally, it might only take from anything they have, like blood or natural nutrients, but when they go berserk, the alien can’t provide any nutrients enough to facilitate that power other than..." Catalith narrowed her eyes.
Nathan muttered, finishing her words. "...lifespan."
