Chapter 1949: Controlled
Chapter 1949: Controlled
"Rebirth."
"!!!"
Nathan widened his eyes in shock. "Please elaborate."
"Unfortunately, I can’t elaborate on that because I don’t know much about this rebirth process. All I heard is that there’s a way to wipe clean everything and become a true ’citizen’ of this universe."
"..." Nathan’s expression turned grim. He couldn’t help but recall all the information about Apophis and Chaos.
Chaos might be more neutral, but his power was truly terrifying. His power might surpass Tiamat’s if they fought at their peak.
On the other hand, Apophis’s strength was also at the same level. Ra might be fighting him, but he also got aid from other gods.
More importantly, Apophis was actually trying to return everything to darkness.
Nathan couldn’t help but wonder if everything ’dark’ came from the Dark Dimension.
Of course, it didn’t look possible since there were different kinds of ’dark.’ Even if he ignored Nyx, who was the daughter of Chaos, there were still Anubis, Tiamat, Xolotl, and other beings who didn’t have such uncontrollable force trying to destroy this universe.
However, a being like Apophis might have been following his instinct from when he was a creature from the Dark Dimension.
Seath mentioned that it was wiped clean, but there was no way to prove it. However, this confirmed that there were indeed creatures that came from the Dark Dimension.
Nathan crossed his arms. "I’m still thinking about my questions. How about you answer some questions regarding your experience being controlled and after the black cell is removed from your body for the time being?"
Catalith had given the honor to Nathan to start first because he had the sigil. Although she wanted to know a lot more, she chose to focus on what he wanted to know first.
So, Catalith nodded in agreement. "Please tell me your experience from the start to finish. Like what happened after the two Outer Gods were controlled?"
Seath paused for a moment. "After the two Great Ones were controlled, the situation became chaotic. A lot of us relied on the supreme beings. In the end, they got controlled by the black cell as well."
"How about their strength? Who are they?"
"The first batch would be those who were close to the Great Ones, like their families and retainers. In the end, more and more of us got controlled by this annoying creature.
"The Trickster noticed the ploy. As the messenger, he noticed something was wrong and was the first to send a warning. The Trickster chose to form a resistance to slow down the process while trying to find a solution.
"Unfortunately, while resisting, I was taken over as well. As soon as I was infected, I lost the ability to speak. This was the biggest reason no one noticed anything before it became too big.
"We couldn’t inform anyone about it no matter the methods. Our mouths... or even our abilities were sealed.
"After that, my consciousness started to fade. However, I managed to use my power to resist the control for a while. Even though I lost the ability to move my body, I could prevent the alien from using my body as well.
"But with the fading consciousness, the alien could start doing more and more with my body. In the end, I had to choose to focus on everything I had left to stop what I wanted to stop.
"Unfortunately, that too wasn’t enough. As soon as my consciousness disappeared, it felt like I was trapped in complete darkness with no way of moving or searching for an exit. I just sat there without being able to do anything.
"When you removed that disgusting creature from my body, the darkness started to crumble. I still hadn’t regained control of my body, but light started to appear in that darkness. It was only after the darkness was no longer there that I finally regained control over my body.
"It was a struggle at first, but it wasn’t exactly a difficult process. And finally, I heard you."
Catalith noted everything down. She never thought the alien experienced anything like this. "Basically, a paralysis, then a coma, before finally waking up. If we put it simply, it will be like that. The problem will be... you can’t do anything when you’re completely controlled, but can you actually hear anything?"
"No. All senses are sealed. I don’t even know how many creatures I’ve killed."
"By the way, there’s something I want to know. I’ve heard about your race reputation. Isn’t your race treating us like livestock or slaves?"
Seath paused for a moment before saying, "What do you think about animals? That’s how we see you. Your people surely do something like pitching one animal against another. Maybe it’s something like a fight between two chickens or something else.
"There are animals that can hurt you. Bigger animals, stronger... the predators. There are humans or other creatures that can hurt us as well."
"..." Catalith couldn’t exactly refute it. Still, it wasn’t pleasant to be considered the same as animals. "You might end up changing your perspective after this. We saved you."
"I changed my perspective a long time ago. When the resistance was created and the Trickster was planning to make you the key to defeating that creature... I had changed my point of view. You surely find it unpleasant hearing it from me, but after existing for so long in this universe, that kind of perspective ended up being created."
Catalith let out a long sigh. "For now, I will accept that point of view without making any further comments. I just don’t have the time or the energy to talk about that. Maybe you can tell me about it, especially your cultures for further studies, but that’s for later."
"I guess this is the fate of a prisoner of war."
"No. We don’t plan to make you a prisoner of war. The study is purely of my interest. However, this might help your race. If we know more about your race, we will be able to save them and maybe you can resist harder while we’re preparing ourselves."
"I see. In that case, I will cooperate as much as possible. However, do know that sharing sensitive information with me will end up being found by that creature."
Catalith glanced at Nathan, who didn’t say anything. It looked like what she told him wasn’t a sensitive plan.
