Chapter 1972: Misconception
Chapter 1972: Misconception
"The second ability is using the dark energy to produce more energy. It’s the same as plants using the light energy from the sun to create energy for themselves."
"Hmm?!" Nathan widened his eyes in shock. "Berserk?"
"Berserk?"
"Don’t you have the memory of it already?"
Apep searched the memory and said, "If you are talking about the sudden increase in power in exchange for lifespan, then yes and no.
"Yes, this might be the ability I’m talking about. No, it’s not exactly the same. That creature might have changed it to suit the creatures in this universe.
"By using the dark energy from this universe, they will amplify their power. There is no such a thing as divinity or authority from the black cell. You are wrong in that regard.
"Instead, from what I can see, the aliens are simply utilizing the power of dark energy or dark matter, however you want to call it.
"The black cell is merely granting them that ability. That’s why their power is weaker on a planet than in outer space like this."
"..." Nathan fell silent. Now that he thought about it, the first god-level alien the girls fought, Evelyn’s team fought their alien on a planet. Meanwhile, Selena faced this alien in outer space.
When Nathan and his group fought the alien near the galactic empire, it was also in outer space.
Lastly, Catalith fought that alien on a planet, so the increase in power during the berserk wasn’t as big as he expected.
In other words, the black cell wasn’t the one responsible for this change. It was the environment of the battle.
"So, you’re saying that if we fight the aliens in outer space where there’s an abundance of dark matter, they will become much stronger."
"Yes. That’s exactly what I’m saying. Why do you even need to confirm it? You looked smart most of the time, but you have a habit of confirming things like stupid people."
"I don’t really care. It’s better to be safe than sorry." Nathan shrugged. He finally figured out that the berserk was simply the black cell enabling them to access the dark matter.
It turned out he had a misconception the whole time.
With this information, Nathan could simply lure out the enemy to a planet so that when it went berserk, the alien wouldn’t be able to get access to a lot of dark matter. It would be weaker.
Nathan raised one finger. "Can’t it be disrupted? Like when the black cell is enabling that power, you interrupt it?"
"Of course. By enabling that power, the black cell is spreading its existence to its entire body. That’s the most vulnerable state of the black cell. If you can disrupt that process, you can weaken the black cell’s control."
"I see." Nathan sighed. Selena and Catalith had found the answers, but they simply got the reasons slightly wrong. "And this lifespan..."
"The black cell has the power to utilize dark matter, but the creatures in this universe can’t. To support the energy from the dark matter, the creatures in this universe need other things to sacrifice. It can’t be the light energy in this universe because it’s incompatible with the black cell.
"Those aliens can’t utilize or absorb the dark matter either. So, what are they using? There is one power that can fit this category."
"Ah!" Nathan gasped. "The most mysterious power in this universe, karma. So, it’s not the lifespan they’re taking. It’s karma. But the karma is tied to their existence, so when it’s used as a fuel, the lifespan comes along with it."
Nathan never thought that the situation about the aliens was actually like this. They really had a big misconception the whole time.
No, it was more accurate that they simply didn’t have the information about the Dark Dimension.
"Still, you can utilize that power..." Nathan frowned.
"I came from there, so why not? I might have become the creature of this universe, but some things didn’t change."
"Including your desire to plunge this universe into eternal darkness." Anubis narrowed his eyes.
"Ah, you little thing. You are the one wagging his tail in front of those people." Apep snorted.
"Well, you are still a failure." Anubis rolled his eyes. He had gotten used to Nathan’s provocations, so hearing him say those words just made Apep sound a bit similar to Fenrir.
"What did you say?" Apep glared at Anubis.
"Well, that’s enough. I’ll wrap it up. Just two more questions." Nathan stopped Apep from fighting again. "First, releasing that energy means utilizing the dark matter and strengthening your power. Anyway, to stop that?"
"I don’t think I will answer that question. I can’t afford to have you utilize that knowledge to deal with me."
Nathan sighed. As he expected, Apep didn’t want to answer this one.
He understood his worries, so he changed his question. "In that case, the last question. It’s a hypothetical question.
"What if I throw you back to the Dark Dimension? Will it change anything? Can you even return to this place? Or will you die over there?"
"No, not really. I won’t die. I can even return to this place. I have become a being that is able to live in both dimensions."
"Wait. That’s a little weird. Why would you throw Yog-Sothoth or Azathoth into the Dark Dimension? Couldn’t they just go back here?"
"If you are talking about the memory of this Loki guy. Then, it’s a different approach. He wasn’t throwing the two aliens to the Dark Dimension. He was trying to have the creatures from the Dark Dimension devour them. That was why it needed to create a large enough prison to stop it from going back."
"But there was Yog-Sothoth, who could manipulate space."
"No. Space didn’t work that way, especially when it came to two different dimensions. The way space worked in the Dark Dimension was different. Even a master who could govern space wouldn’t be able to easily control it for the first time.
"That was why, from the information provided by the memory, it was more likely that this space wriggler actually used time before it got engulfed by the Dark Dimension, switching its existence back to the point where it was still alive outside the Dark Dimension.
"If they could just seal that power a bit more, their plans would have succeeded. They probably didn’t have anyone strong enough to handle it or enough people to stop this creature."
