Chapter 1986: Surrounded
Chapter 1986: Surrounded
After a few hours, Nathan and the others regrouped. There were a total of 1021 bodies gathered in this place.
"I don’t know if there’s more. I have done as much as possible." Nathan sighed.
"That is more than enough." Anubis nodded. "Thank you for the help. No matter what, these are the remnants of our comrades. They fought the aliens in the past, and it was time for the future to honor them."
Nathan glanced at the girls. They had gathered the divine artifacts as well. Most divine artifacts weren’t as powerful as the ones Erlang Shen wielded.
However, it didn’t change the fact that they were still divine artifacts. They just collected it for the time being and figured out what they were going to do with it.
Luna couldn’t help but say, "Machina, I think I know how you’re going to get stronger. This artifact that uses the sun... your body can’t handle it.
"However, if we approach it in a different way, I think you will get stronger than you can imagine."
Machina tilted her head. "Please elaborate, Mistress."
"The principle is rather simple. First of all, we’re going to wait until you are starting to form your power of rules. When it’s time to create your divine body, we might be able to help."
"My Soul Contract will help." Nathan reassured Machina.
"No, no. There’s no need for your contract this time." Luna waved down, gesturing for Nathan to let her handle it. "Rather, your body is that of a machine. In a way, it’s also categorized as a tool. In that case, what if we refine your body and turn you from a ’mortal’ body into a ’divine’ body like creating a divine artifact?"
"Ah!" Machina nodded in understanding. Unlike the others, she wasn’t supposed to be a living being. In other words, her mechanical body could be improved like an artifact.
If she refined her into a divine artifact, that body might be able to withstand the power of the sun.
"I will then create another divine artifact that can contain the sun and harness its power before transmuting it into your body. This way, you will become a divine artifact that can utilize another artifact that is drawing the sun’s energy. The problem will be your computation output. I don’t understand much about how computers work just yet. I don’t have time to dismantle things like that or even read books about that." Luna shook her head helplessly.
"In that case, you don’t have to worry. I will be preparing for a patch to upgrade my software to be able to utilize that amount of energy." Machina reassured Luna that as long as she reached that point, she could handle the rest herself.
"That’s good. I think we know how to make Machina stronger. After a divine artifact, we will create something similar to the true vessel, but for the divine artifact." Luna smiled. "Creating the power of rules will take a long time, but with Machina’s computation, her understanding of this power should increase exponentially."
Nathan agreed. "Turning her body into a divine artifact can cut the time she requires to become a god herself. That means she can catch up with the rest of us."
"Exactly. You want all of us to contribute, so we have to do this. Hopefully, this is the correct decision." Luna let out a long sigh. "I don’t really want to ruin Machina."
"You won’t ruin anything." Nathan turned to Machina. "You can always create a new body, right? Even if it means starting over, I can grant you another Soul Contract to get it started again."
"Yes, Master, Mistress. I’m thankful for your consideration. This is something I consent to and I’m ready for anything that will come with it." Machina politely bowed.
"Still, creating androids with divinity..." Nathan smiled wryly.
"What’s wrong?" Luna tilted her head in confusion.
"Nothing." Nathan looked away. He just couldn’t help but imagine terminators having divinity. It would be terrifying.
"Summoner!" Anubis called him.
"Yeah?"
"I’m done with my preparation. If you please... I’d like a moment of silence."
"Of course. Go ahead." Nathan raised both hands, as if he was apologizing.
"I’m also done with my work, so you can proceed." Iris nodded to Anubis.
"Understood. In that case, I shall lead the ceremony for the death of all the warriors who have fought here." Anubis activated his Ankh of Reincarnation.
"I pay my respects to all warriors who lie before me. Good fathers, good husbands, good mothers, good wives, good children, good warriors, and good gods.
"Your fight is over, but our fight has just begun. I’d like to see off all the warriors who have fought for the future.
"I’d like to ask for your blessing so that we can pick up your fight."
Anubis activated the scale of justice. The balanced tilt heavily toward the good. Both his powers released their respective energy and covered all the bodies.
Anubis then sent forth his bandages, wrapping the bodies one by one.
"We may not come from the same place, but we do originate from the same planet. I hope that you are willing to forgive me for sending you off with my own method.
"With my authority as the god of death and afterlife, I, Anubis, judge you and release you."
The Ankh of Reincarnation and the Scale of Justice shone brightly. One by one, the bodies disappeared.
Anubis didn’t know why the people from the past chose to seal this place instead of properly sending them off. It might be because they had another reason, or it might be as simple as they thought they could win and they could simply send them off later, so they just needed to seal this place first so that their remnants would stay here until they returned.
Either way, he chose to send them off to this place.
When the shine started to fade, they could see that the bodies had all disappeared. Anubis nodded to Nathan. "Everything is over, Summoner."
"Good work, Anubis. In that case, let’s get out of here so that we can deal with what comes next." Nathan nodded with a serious expression.
"What comes next?" Sera tilted her head in confusion.
That was until Luna brought them back to the real universe. They were already surrounded from all directions.
