Chapter 1109: Terminate the relationship between the Patron and the Contractor.

Watching his older brother, Idan remembered Alois’ words about his desire to gain affinity with the elements.

Lucinda’s words that the human race of Earth is different from the human race of Junonia. About the awakening of the element of Darkness from his adoptive mother, Arabel’s mother and many others after the phenomenon in Sierra.

People on Earth had a unique ability to awaken their affinity for the elements.

When Lucinda talked about the disadvantages of cultivation with the help of creatures from other worlds, Idan and the others did not think about what would happen if a person had the same element as these creatures.

Will his path be cut off like the others, or not?

At the time, neither he, Arabel, nor anyone else had thought about it.

And so, when he went to look for his older brother, he unexpectedly came across the result of this coincidence. And most importantly, his older brother was at the center of this discovery.

Ryan couldn’t process what had just happened.

He was breathing heavily, feeling the sharp pain of the burns caused by the powerful element of fire. Although he was a Fire Creature Contractor, it didn’t make him invulnerable to fire.

Through the pain, he could barely hear the conversation between Mrs. Livia and his Patroness.

“Saelina, do you understand the consequences of hiding such important information from the Council?”

“Not only you, but your entire clan may suffer,” Livia’s soft smile did not leave her face.

“Ms. Livia, you misunderstood me,” Saelina tore her gaze away from Ryan and looked into Livia’s eyes with determination.

“Yes, I hid it. But I didn’t do it to harm the Council or the Golden Fire Faction. I just wasn’t completely sure of my conclusions and decided to observe and make sure first. And only after receiving irrefutable evidence, I was going to inform you.”

“Cough, cough,” Ryan coughed, trying to take a deep breath.

Livia, distracted by Ryan, turned her gaze back to Saelina and said with a soft intonation:

“I’m willing to turn a blind eye to all this if you give me power over him.”

Hearing this, Idan clenched his fist, and his gaze turned gloomy. As an Earthling, it was unpleasant for him that creatures from other worlds perceived them as a commodity.

He had already encountered this kind of attitude more than once.

And now, these two fiery creatures were discussing his older brother, which particularly offended him.

“Okay, I agree,” Saelina had no choice.

She looked at Ryan, the young man she had found and taken under her care, and even tried to hide his uniqueness.

Yes, she had her own personal motives, but they couldn’t compare to the safety of the entire clan, which rested on her shoulders.

Closing her eyes, she focused on the many threads that connected her to the more than a dozen Contractors under her authority. Among them, she found the one that belonged to Ryan.

Finding this connection, Saelina froze for a moment.

She saw it.

More vivid and unpredictable, this thread was significantly different from the other connections she felt with other Contractors.

It was thanks to this anomaly that Saelina realized that Ryan was different.

No matter how much Saelina wanted to, she had to sever this thread connecting them.

Terminate the relationship between the Patron and the Contractor.

Saelina, gritting her teeth, broke the connection and lost her power over Ryan. A slight pain pierced her soul, momentarily stunning her.

“Aarrrrr!” — Ryan screamed in pain.

He had already suffered from the effects of the Libyan fire, and now the severance of his connection with Saelina had hit his soul and body. His strength began to rapidly decrease, and his vision became slightly blurred. Looking down, he saw his trembling hands.

“So that’s what it means to be a Contractor… to be dependent on a patron.”, — Ryan thought ironically. Yes, he was aware that his power did not belong to him, but came from the Patroness. However, deep down, he still hoped that wasn’t the case.

But as it turned out, he was wrong.

Closing his eyes, Ryan thought about his mother, the most important person in his life.

Remembering her bright and loving smile, he felt warmth spreading in his chest.

Without noticing how his strength stopped waning. Then a tiny spark lit up inside him. A spark that grew brighter by the second, as if it had finally freed itself from the shackles that held it back.

Livia, Saelina, Idan, and Prina noticed the changes in Ryan’s condition. The dying bonfire seemed to slowly flare up with renewed vigor.

A wide smile appeared on Livia’s face, while Saelina looked at Ryan with bitterness.

The intense weakness that had gripped Ryan began to recede, and he himself finally noticed the changes that had taken place. Opening his eyes, he looked at his hands, which were no longer shaking so much.

The pain still hadn’t subsided, but he felt completely different.

His rank dropped to the second, but instead of continuing to decline, he began to strengthen.

For Livia, what happened to Ryan was another confirmation of rumors about an unusual feature of the locals.

She had no doubts now.

“Saelina,” Livia called and gave an assignment: “I want you to find all his relatives and bring them to me.”

“There is a possibility that this feature can be inherited, so find everyone who is related to him by blood,” she added. “Use the {Blood Bond} artifact to avoid missing anyone.”

Hearing Livia’s order, Saelina frowned. She had already checked the information and knew that Ryan only had a mother and two younger brothers. However, she remained silent, realizing that Livia would not be satisfied with such an answer, since she even ordered the use of an artifact of {Blood Bond}.

“No!” shouted Ryan. “Please! Don’t involve my mother and brothers in this!”

“Please, please,” Ryan lowered his head. “I am ready to swear allegiance and serve you if you don’t touch my family. On the contrary, protect them.”

To Ryan, his mother and brothers were everything.

Even if he didn’t want to serve these creatures of fire, he was willing to do anything to protect the people he loved.

A sly and satisfied smile appeared on Livia’s face.

Upon seeing this, Saelina realized that Livia had intentionally said these words to force Ryan to surrender and accept her authority.

“Young man, if you accept me as your Patroness and make a blood contract, I give you my word that I will protect your mother and brothers,” Livia said, walking up to Ryan and making an incision on her index finger. Then she held out her hand to him.

Ryan, experiencing pain, loss of strength and realizing the potential danger hanging over his family, lost his composure.

His thoughts were in a mess.

Looking up, Ryan saw Livia smiling softly at him and her outstretched hand.

“I…”— before he could begin, the door of the room burst open with a bang, and in a matter of seconds everything was plunged into darkness.
