Chapter 1212: A peak, a river, a maze, a lair.

The group found themselves high above the icy peak, amidst the roaring wind and clouds of snow dust. The inverted gravity pushed them out, as if the mountain itself had spat out intruders.

A strong gust of icy wind struck from the side.

The barrier that Arslan had managed to create in front of the snow curtain cracked. Lina was thrown to the side, and Irene was almost swept away into the storm, but Lucinda grabbed her in time with the help of the Soul Force.

A few moments later, everyone was hurled to the top of a snow-covered mountain. They landed on the icy surface one after the other, rolled along the sloping surface and, reaching a small cliff, fell onto an open area.

“It hurts so much!” exclaimed Arslan, getting up from the snowy ground and shivering from the cold.

But before they could recover, they heard the sound of air being split and a loud crash.

Following the source of the sound, they saw it — a massive white figure landing on top of one of the mountain peaks.

It was a Giant Ice Dragon.

“Graaaaa!” a long-drawn roar rang out, causing everyone to cover their ears.

To their horror, more flapping wings followed the first sound, and more massive figures landed around the spot where they had fallen.

Ice Dragons.

And they were all Diamond Ranked!

Their wings were like frozen storms, their eyes shone with a cold blue light, and their breath turned the air in front of their mouths into white crystals.

The group was surrounded.

Everyone quickly gathered in a circle, and Lina, showing no fear, grabbed her sword. Her eyes sparkled with lightning, and four lightning wings appeared behind her.

Crackle!

Everyone heard only one crack, and the ice under their feet, their support, disappeared.

The peak seemed to explode and open up, falling inside itself.

And the group that had just been preparing for battle crashed down again—back into the heart of the Icy Mountain.

All they heard was the roar of many ice dragons.

The next fall was short-lived. A small river, not covered with ice, flowed under them, and they fell into it.

The water was icy, but most of the problems were created by the turbulent current, which carried them deeper and deeper. Finally, they fell from a high waterfall into a quieter and calmer part of the river, where they were finally able to get out and flatten themselves on the shore.

“Cough, cough! It was a great trip,” Arslan blurted out, coughing, all wet and steaming.

Kitty’s fur was soaked, and she was shivering from the cold.

When she shook off the water, it splashed almost everyone around her.

Everyone took out the Fire element crystals and began to warm up.

“Ah…” — the radiance of Lucinda’s Light element fell on everyone, which relaxed, gave a little warmth and protected them from diseases.

The first thing the group did was inspect the area they were in. There was silence all around, not a single sign of the presence of other living beings could be seen.

Everyone except Nemo did not know where and in which direction they should move on.

Nemo still clearly felt the call that had been driving him forward all this time, but now it became even more insistent and strong.

“This way,” he said, calling for the others to follow him, and led the way in the indicated direction.

The others, already guessing that Nemo knew the way, exchanged glances and, without hesitation, followed him.

This time they found themselves in an icy maze, where the almost mirrored ice reflected many of their reflections, confusing their thoughts and leading them astray.

In order not to get lost and split up, the group, using the Soul Force, connected in a long chain. Nemo was in the lead, followed by Lina, and Lucinda brought up the rear.

Thanks to Nemo, they did not have to wander in the maze for long, and soon they came out of it, finding themselves in a cave filled with ice crystals.

“Are these eggs?” asked Milena, pointing to what looked like large eggs visible among the crystals.

Following her gaze and seeing those eggs, everyone froze.

A small head poked out of one of them, and everyone’s heart sank with the realization of where they were.

In the Dragon’s Lair.

The baby dragon’s small eyes looked at the group curiously, its head turning from side to side.

Milena immediately cast a concealment spell, hoping to hide the group and retreat quietly before the adult dragons noticed them.

However, it was already too late.

The baby dragon managed to see them. And when the strangers suddenly disappeared right in front of his eyes, curiosity was replaced by anxiety.

He recoiled and let out a high-pitched growl.

The group froze under the spell.

There was silence for a moment.

And then the whole cave trembled.

“Run!” exclaimed Lucinda.

And this time, no one argued.

Nemo quickly moved forward, leading the way, while Milena, without removing the concealment spell, followed them. A deafening roar grew behind them, as if the cave itself was waking up from a dream. A low roar came from its depths, which made everyone’s insides turn cold.

They didn’t look back.

Carefully maneuvering between the ice crystals, they quickly approached the exit of the cave. But just as they thought they had managed to escape danger, a huge wingless blue dragon covered in ice appeared in their path.

Lina immediately stepped forward, gripping the hilt of her sword, ready to slay the dragon.

“Don’t kill him!” shouted Lucinda.

“Huh?” — Lina almost stumbled in surprise.

“He can’t see us!” exclaimed Lucinda, following Nemo. At full speed, they slipped under the paws of an oblivious dragon.

They ran past the dragon without stopping and ducked into a long passage.

The passage lasted for quite a long time before they finally broke out of the cave.

At the same moment, a powerful impact rang out from behind them, shaking the stone walls, and a furious roar burst out.

If anyone had been chasing them, they had now stopped and did not continue the chase.

The group stopped only when they passed through another cave and found themselves in a huge lake with a small ice island in the center.

There was a familiar ice wall on the island, on which, as in previous times, there was an inscription:

“The candidate must personally choose the one who should stay so that the others can continue on their way.”
