Chapter 1215: Arslan VS Frostborn

Chapter 1215: Arslan VS Frostborn

“She’s definitely not right in the head,” Arslan thought, shuddering at his rival’s joyful smile.

She picked up the second sword that she had stuck into the ground and looked at it, preparing for another attack.

“Phew…” — Arslan took a deep breath in and out, then removed his shield and straightened his red hair.

His gaze became more serious and focused.

By this point, he had already realized that his usual tactics of standing and defending himself were useless.

He needs to completely change his strategy.

“Well, I guess now is the time to try it,” he told himself as he prepared for another round of battle.

Arslan was a team fighter from the very beginning.

In a one-on-one duel, if the opponent could overcome his defensive barrier, Arslan was usually defeated.

In those days, when there were not so many Awakened Ones, there were only nine such people. Together with them, Arslan became the tenth in the list of Heroes of the Federation.

In these three years, his barriers have become his main strength, and he has developed his own unique style of defense.

However, with the achievement of the Platinum rank, everything changed.

Frostborn rushed at him swiftly, clutching swords in her hands.

Arslan, without taking his eyes off his opponent, raised his right hand and created a spherical barrier around it.

He abruptly turned his hand, and the barrier began to rotate, following the movement of his hand.

His opponent almost collided with the barrier and was about to cut it with her swords when suddenly her legs lost their footing and the stance collapsed. In the next instant, she was inside the rotating barrier.

Arslan did not stop there. He created another flat barrier in the distance, and before Frostborn could do anything, he pushed the rotating barrier towards the flat barrier he had just created.

The rotating barrier crashed into the flat barrier with great speed and burst, and Frostborn slammed into the wall. Before she realized what had happened, she noticed the approach of the second flat barrier and, swinging her sword, cut it, avoiding flattening.

At that moment, she raised her head and saw the third flat barrier falling on her. She swung her sword again and cut him down.

For a moment, her smile disappeared and she became more serious.

Not noticing any more new barriers, she turned her gaze to Arslan and, seeing that he was standing and calmly looking at her, broke into a satisfied smile.

“Tsch!”

Arslan himself clicked his tongue, realizing that his attack had not achieved complete success, even though he had caught her off guard at the beginning.

“She’s not that simple,” he thought, remembering how quickly she was able to pull herself together and fend off his last two attacks.

Moving barriers.

Previously, his barriers were mainly used for passive defense: Arslan stood, withstanding attacks, buying time for the team or trying to survive the onslaught. However, now that he had reached the Platinum rank, the very nature of his power had changed: His barriers became not only walls, but tools for movement, pressure, and attack.

But this power had its limits.

Arslan couldn’t completely control her. He could only give his barriers an initial impulse — set the direction, force and rotation, after which they continued to move by inertia.

He could push, spin, launch, or deflect the barrier, but after it was launched, Arslan could not always quickly correct the error.

Frostborn did not immediately attack.

She tilted her head, wondering what was the best thing to do.

Then, she swiftly launched a series of sword strikes, and several ice sickles shot towards Arslan.

He raised both hands and created several flat barriers at once.

However, this time, instead of defending himself and putting them in the way of attack, he tilted them so that each ice sickle collided with the barriers tangentially, changed its trajectory and flew past Arslan.

“Ricochet barriers,” Arslan said, nodding in satisfaction. “Yeah, that sounds good.”

A system window immediately appeared in front of his eyes.

[…]

[This System has not detected a new ability.]

[It was an ordinary flat barrier.]

“The main thing is the ability to serve,” Arslan replied calmly.

BOOM!

A wave of icy force rushed towards him from Frostborn, freezing everything in its path.

Arslan waved his hand, and a rotating dome-shaped ice barrier appeared around him.

BAM!

The ice wave collided with the barrier, but it only shook slightly, not collapsing and continuing to rotate. Moreover, instead of slowing down, the barrier began to accelerate and strengthen, absorbing the icy energy from the surrounding space.

Arslan smiled. This barrier not only protected him, but also supplied him with icy energy, replenishing what he had already spent.

Frostborn began to tremble. No, not out of anger or anger, no… A joyful smile did not leave her face.

It was obvious that she liked everything that was happening.

She took her time. She didn’t push until the end. Every time he found an answer, she just smiled and raised the bar a little higher.

“She’s playing with me,” — Arslan realized. “No… checking.”

Frostborn rushed towards him again, holding her swords in her hands, ready to engage in close combat.

Arslan created a spherical barrier around her again, but this time Frostborn was ready to attack. With a swing of her swords, she cut through the barrier and cleared her way.

However, instead of spinning, Arslan swung his hand sharply to the side, and the spherical barrier sharply deviated to the left. Before she could exit through the gap, Frostborn crashed into the remaining part of the barrier and flew away with it.

Looking back, she saw that she was about to collide with another barrier, and more barriers were rushing at her from all sides.

Her eyes shone with a blue light, and clutching her swords, she swiftly spun on the spot, delivering a series of powerful circular blows. Her attacks shattered all of Arslan’s barriers, freeing her from the trap.

Standing on her feet, she looked up, and behind her, one by one, ice spears began to appear. One, two, three… About twenty ice spears swiftly rushed towards Arslan.

Arslan created his ricocheting barriers again, but there were so many spears that he had to create a barrier to the side, push it away with force, and grab onto it with his Soul Force to evade the attacks.

Some of the ice spears changed their trajectory and flew after him. Arslan created a new barrier and, pulling himself by his Soul Force, evaded them as well. He managed to hit some of them with ricochet barriers.

Now, besides defending and attacking, he used his barriers to dodge and move.

Arslan grinned, but his smile quickly faded as he saw more and more ice spears appear above the arena at lightning speed. The number of them was so great that a shudder ran through Arslan’s body.

“You’re kidding me!” he exclaimed, and at the same moment he folded his arms in the shape of a triangle, saying activated one of his trump cards.:

“I’m home.”

A powerful energy burst out of his body, and a protective barrier in the form of a castle appeared around him. It was only a moment later that the ice spears came crashing down on him.
