Chapter 1216: Dissect

Chapter 1216: Dissect

Arslan’s legs buckled from the sudden disappearance of the enormous amount of strength he had put into the protective lock in a matter of seconds.

“I’m home.”

It was the most powerful barrier he could create on his own.

In the next second, a rain of ice spears rained down on him.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

There was a deafening crash.

His defenses were shaking, but still standing.

Along with the trembling of the castle, his body was also trembling.

It only lasted a few seconds, but for Arslan it seemed like an eternity.

When the roar subsided and silence hung, he looked up and saw that the castle was covered with numerous cracks, but still resisted and protected him.

“Haaaah!” gasped Arslan, and the castle began to collapse.

Arslan was the first to activate the sensory barrier.

There was an icy fog floating around, and he couldn’t see where his opponent was.

Other barriers began to appear behind the sensory barrier, and Arslan felt dizzy. He fell to his knees, but managed to put his hands on it.

The ice barrier that appeared began to absorb the surrounding ice energy and quickly restore Arslan’s strength.

“Cough! Cough!” — despite all his efforts, Arslan could not hold back his cough.

Seconds passed, but nothing happened. Soon the fog cleared, and Arslan, having regained some strength, was able to stagger to his feet.

Frostborn stood in the distance, and at first glance it seemed that this attack was nothing to her. However, Arslan noticed that she was trembling.

Not from excitement or anger, but from the fact that, like him, she was severely exhausted.

The smile was still on her face, and when she saw Arslan safe and sound, her eyes lit up and her smile grew even wider.

And then suddenly her smile disappeared.

She froze.

Arslan felt a chill run through the arena, unlike the usual frost. Even the Frostborns in the stands fell silent.

She slowly raised one of the swords.

Her lips barely moved.

“Dissect”.

The word was spoken softly.

But the world heard her.

Lucinda’s warning about the Frostborns came back to Arslan’s mind.

“The Power of Words!”

The world split in front of Arslan.

Not an ice sickle. Not a sword thrust. Not a wave of energy.

Space itself was split by a thin blue line, and all Arslan’s barriers—physical, energy, mirror, ice, sensory, and four—layered-were split as if they had never existed.

Images of people dear to him flashed before Arslan’s eyes. He saw especially clearly the face of his son and Irene, the woman he loved.

For a moment, it was as if he had looked into his own death.

At the last moment, like an invisible shield, the last protection inside his body was activated.

His last trump card.

A defense designed not to win or counterattack, but only to survive one fatal blow.

The blue line passed through him.

Arslan was thrown back. He hit the ground, rolled over several times, and froze, leaving a long trail of blood in his wake. There was a deep gash on his chest, and his breathing was so heavy, as if his lungs refused to work.

But he was alive.

Frostborn lowered her sword and fell to her knees. At the same moment, a crack of frost ran down her arm, and her sword fell out. Her fingers twitched, and a thin trickle of blood flowed from the corner of her lips, which instantly froze on her chin.

The cost of the attack was too high for her.

Arslan, breathing heavily, somehow got up on one knee. His vision blurred, but his gaze was fixed on her.

Frostborn was also looking at him.

They were both silent.

Both used their best techniques.

Both paid a high price.

But none of them has given up yet.

Frostborn stood up, clutching her second sword tightly.

Arslan’s condition was worse than his opponent’s, and if she had attacked him at that moment, he would hardly have been able to defend himself. Trying to stop the bleeding, Arslan froze his wound.

Frostborn looked at him from afar.

She could continue and end the fight.

Arslan understood that. One step. One swipe. One move and the fight would be over.

But Frostborn didn’t move.

Instead, she slowly lowered the blade.

The smile returned to her face.

A satisfied smile.

She stuck her sword into the ground, crouched down, and waited without taking her eyes off him.

Arslan frowned.

“Is she… is she letting me recover?”

Frostborn tilted her head slightly.

Arslan tremblingly took out the fourth-rank recovery pills and greedily swallowed them. Like his rival, he began to absorb the icy energy, and as soon as he regained some strength, he created an ice barrier to speed up the process.

There was silence in the stands. Some of the Frostborns exchanged glances, realizing that she could have ended the fight, but did not.

Arslan did not take his eyes off her, and all the while she silently looked at him with a smile.

“She’s definitely crazy.”, — He thought.

Meanwhile, the remaining members of the group, after Arslan was chosen and disappeared, had another unforgettable adventure in the middle layer of the Ice Caves.

Their journey began with the fact that the ice island on which they were standing in the middle of the lake cracked, and everyone was sucked into the depths of the lake before being thrown into another cave.

Soaked to the skin, they emerged from the pond and, following Nemo, reached the fourth ice wall, located on top of a small hill.

The team was visibly tired, and Nemo was exhausted by the pressure of his decisions related to the Conquest. He could see that Irene, despite her outward calmness, was very worried about Arslan, although she did not object when he chose him as the third person to stay.

On the fourth ice wall, they found the following inscription:

“A randomly selected team member should stay behind so that the rest can continue on their way.”

When everyone read this, a wind blew over them, followed by a snowstorm.

When the storm cleared, they quickly looked around and found that one of them had disappeared.

This time, the Ice Caves took Irene away.
