Chapter 1281: The beginning of the Third Ascension Trial.
Chapter 1281: The beginning of the Third Ascension Trial.
The Kingdom’s space has expanded significantly with the addition of new sources, especially the Earth source. It still had the shape of a sphere and gradually increased from the center to the borders.
Mountains and valleys, rivers and small lakes appeared on the territory.
Far from the center, two figures appeared on top of one of the mountains.
“Fine,” Arabel said with a slight smile. “I think this place is perfect.”
Idan nodded in agreement.
They held hands the whole time.
Among the Awakened Ones who possess Rare Systems or have managed to increase their rarity, most have used the Breakthrough Hall located in the Systems Dungeon to reach the Platinum Rank.
Only a few have been able to find their own unique catalyst and make an individual breakthrough, as Irene did.
In this regard, Idan and Arabel, as in the first two Ascension Trials, had no intention of using the Breakthrough Hall.
Their System forbade them to do this.
After all, they already had their own catalyst for a special breakthrough.
“Bloodline potions first, and then Energy of Madness,” Arabel listed the catalysts they used for the First and Second Ascension Trials.
Both of these Trials were special and completely different from each other.
Neither she nor Idan were aware of what had happened during the Second Ascension Trial. It still made them uneasy and reminded them of themselves from time to time.
And the third trial did not promise anything easy. On the contrary, everything indicated that it would be much more difficult.
After all, the System itself had announced that the current catalyst for their Ascension Trial would be the “rudiments” of the Kingdom’s law of Lightning and Ice.
Law.
The very concept was foreign to both of them.
But System wanted them to plunge into these mysteries already.
The words of Lucinda and the others were still ringing in their ears.
Laying the foundation early gives a cultivator power, but at the same time it can also become a curse, an obstacle to further development.
On the one hand, this is a huge advantage, but on the other, it is also a huge disadvantage.
“Let’s get started,” Arabel suggested, smiling slightly.
Idan turned to her. He noticed how her hands were shaking slightly, and the worry she was trying to hide behind a smile.
He partly understood her. After all, she was the one who suffered the most after the second Ascension Trial.
Idan pulled her to him and kissed her wordlessly with as much passion as he could muster.
Surprised by his unexpected gesture, Arabel, without hesitation, responded to his kiss with no less fervor.
Words were not needed.
They both felt mutual affection through that kiss and understood what each wanted to say.
Breaking away from each other with a loud smacking sound, they looked at each other without a trace of embarrassment. Although their faces were slightly flushed, there was determination in their eyes, not passion or lust.
Without further ado, they slowly prepared everything they needed.
Still holding hands, they sat down and looked at each other.
“System, we are ready. Begin the Ascension Trial,” they said in unison.
[The Third Ascension Trial. The Trial of the rudiments of the Lightning Law and the Ice Law. It will start in three seconds.] — System’s response sounded.
[Three.] — The countdown has started.
[Two.]
[One.]
[The Ascension Trial has begun.]
[Your bodies will be destroyed, and your minds will be immersed in the chosen Laws.]
[Save your essence and create a new container for it.]
[Success will lead to the formation of the foundation of the Law.]
[Losing one’s self means failing the Trial.]
“Huh?” — Idan and Arabel were perplexed, not having time to realize what they had heard.
“Have the bodies been destroyed?” Arabel managed to say, as their eyes clouded over.
In the next instant, Idan found himself floating in a dark and unexplored space.
Crackle!
The rolling sound of lightning followed by thunder reached his ears.
The space shone with all the colors of the rainbow, and high above his head, Idan saw a spatial rift, followed by a bright flash.
Immediately, an unbearable pain gripped his body.
He screamed… No, he tried, but it didn’t work…
His body split apart and began to fall apart.
Boom!
A huge explosion of lightning lit up the dark storm clouds, and thousands of sparks flew in all directions.
When the glow disappeared, there was only emptiness in the place where Idan was standing, and lightning could be heard all around.

Arabel appeared at the top of one of the mountains.
A snow-covered stone lay under her feet, and sharp peaks towered around her, disappearing into the boundless whiteness. The air here was so cold and thin that every breath burned her lungs.
Arabel looked up and saw dark storm clouds high in the sky. They slowly rotated, covering the sky with a huge black whirlpool.
There was a deafening clap of thunder.
Lightning flashed in the depths of the clouds.
And then a blinding flash lit up the sky.
Arabel’s eyes narrowed.
For a moment, it seemed to her that a human silhouette appeared inside the radiance, but the next moment it crumbled into countless tiny sparks. Like a golden-white rain, they scattered across the stormy sky and disappeared among the lightning.
“Idan…?” — As soon as his name left her lips, Arabel felt a chill.
She frowned and looked down.
The tips of her fingers turned white. A thin layer of frost quickly spread over the skin, and barely noticeable cracks appeared under it.
Arabel tried to raise her hand, but her fingers wouldn’t obey her anymore.
Crackle!
A tiny piece of ice broke off from one of them.
Shock flashed in Arabel’s eyes.
The cold was rapidly rising up her arms, penetrating her chest and constricting her insides. Her blood was freezing in her veins, and her heart was beating slower and slower until it finally stopped.
But Arabel remained conscious.
“The Ice Law…” was her last coherent thought.
There were thousands of cracks all over his body at once.
The crunch became deafening.
Arabel’s body shattered.
Her arms, legs, and face crumbled into countless sparkling pieces. They hovered for a moment over the top of the mountain, reflecting flashes of distant lightning.
And then a blizzard hit.
The roaring wind picked up the ice fragments and scattered them in different directions. Some disappeared into deep cracks, others raced down the snow-covered slopes, and others disappeared into the swirling snow.
After a few moments, there was nothing left in the place where Arabel had been standing.
A cold wind continued to blow over the top of the mountain.
