Chapter 1297: Put an end
Chapter 1297: Put an end
In this life, Idan had met Christopher only once, on the very evening when he met Arabelle and they both awakened the System. Never again, not sooner, not later.
This single encounter was enough for Idan to take a dislike to Christopher.
Christopher belonged to the type of rich scions of powerful families who were allowed to do anything. For years, Irene had urged Idan to avoid people like him and not have anything to do with him.
Everything would have remained that way if it hadn’t been for the First Ascension Trial, in which Idan and Arabel lived their lives anew.
In that life, they did not meet and did not awaken their Systems. Their paths diverged, and they led completely different lives.
Where, after his Awakening, Idan lived with only one goal — to avenge the deaths of his sister and mother.
And, most importantly, he achieved it.
He destroyed the main estate of the Hugh family and cut off Christopher’s head, the main culprit of the deaths of his sister and mother.
All these memories were with him. They became an integral part of him.
Now, looking at Christopher alive, Idan felt no pity for him and was not going to let him go.
If Arabelle hadn’t asked him to stay out of it and let her deal with Christopher on her own, he would have gotten rid of him long ago.
A part of his being was still insistently demanding “revenge,” even though in this life Christopher had not done what he had done during the Ascension Trial.
“Are all the girls exempt from his influence?” Idan asked without taking his eyes off him.
“Yes, it’s been a long time,” Sierra said, waiting for Idan to make a decision.
Idan stepped forward, disappeared, and appeared inside the cell the next second. He already had the materialized “Light King Sword” in his hands.
“The Innocent Maidens System,” — Idan recalled of Christopher’s System, which allowed him to manipulate and command innocent girls, including Awakened Ones.
Even in this life, he’s chosen a nasty path, Idan thought. However, he understood that it wasn’t the system’s fault. The system only provides a tool, and exactly how to use it depends on the person himself.
The Innocent Maidens System did not force Christopher to manipulate girls. It was just one of the abilities that he made his main strength.
But what Idan could not forgive Christopher for was his intention to harm Arabel, his wife.
There was no point in putting it off any longer.
Arabel was still asleep, and mass teleportation was already on the way.
Even if there was a way to stop him from teleporting, Idan wasn’t going to leave him here anymore.
He had long since come to the conclusion that the best enemy was a dead enemy.
Zing!
Christopher’s chains rattled as he slept, and his body shuddered. He was waking up.
Idan frowned slightly.
Sierra, standing behind the bars, smiled with anticipation.
Idan’s hand, which was clutching the crystal sword, did not waver. He decided to wait.
Christopher’s eyelids fluttered open.
He blinked slowly. He had been in a nightmare dream for too long, and his thoughts were confused.
Zing! Zing!
He yanked the chains with force, realizing that he was chained, and tried to free himself.
Only then did he notice a figure in front of him.
Man. At first, he couldn’t recognize it, as his eyesight hadn’t fully recovered yet. But when he saw the face, he thought he had seen it before, but couldn’t remember where.
Their eyes met.
That calm, cold look. Memories flashed through his mind, and he finally realized who was standing in front of him.
But before he could speak, the man’s hand holding the sword moved, and he only noticed a flash.
Then he fell… So it seemed to him, although in fact it was his head that fell.
The last thing he saw was his body being held down by chains, blood, and the silhouette of a man with a sword.
His vision began to darken, and there was only one question in his mind: “Why?”
[Ding! For killing a Rare System Host, you get one Rare System core]
[The Rare System’s core has been sealed and moved to storage]
[Ding! You have killed a Host subordinate to the Dark System.]
[Ding! A rare “Dark System” mark has been detected.]
[Ding! A rare mark was blocked by the “Dark System”.]
A series of system notifications popped up in front of Idan.
“That’s it,” Idan said, returning his sword to the ring shape.
He looked down at his hands, and then at Christopher’s body.
Idan felt no joy, no elation, no regrets. Only what had been tormenting him from the inside for a long time finally subsided and disappeared.
He already knew that Christopher was Darkia’s subordinate, so it didn’t surprise him.
Behind the cage, Sierra nodded in silent satisfaction.
The next moment, they both disappeared and reappeared in Sierra’s office.
“Do you want some wine?” Sierra suggested.
“No, thanks,” Idan shook his head and looked at her. Christopher’s awakening wasn’t an accident—it was Sierra’s job. Idan didn’t understand why she would do that.
Did she check on him?
“It doesn’t matter,” he dismissed these thoughts.
“Is that all?” he asked her.
“Well, there are no more Awakened Ones in my prison,” Sierra hinted, meaning that there are other Awakened Ones in the Kingdom who are not related to the Kingdom. For example, Crowey.
“Then I’m leaving,” with these words, Idan disappeared, leaving her alone.
Sierra stared at the place where he was standing for a while, and then casually sat down on the sofa, picked up the glass that she had put on the table earlier, and drank everything that was left.
Idan found himself on the second floor of his house, in front of the bedroom door where Arabel was sleeping. Bera was still obediently standing at Anna and Richard’s door.
Meeting her gaze, Idan nodded at her and carefully opened the door. Once inside, he froze for a moment. His gaze fell on the bed, where Arabel was rubbing her eyes, yawning sleepily.
“You’re back,” she smiled when she saw him.
Idan closed the door and walked over to the bed. However, Arabel’s smile faded, and she sighed and said something that surprised him.:
“Is Christopher finished?”
Seeing his reaction, Arabel realized that she was right.
“Yes, he’s finished,” Idan confirmed, sitting down next to him. “You don’t mind that I did it, do you?”
“Of course not,” Arabel smiled. “I was done with him when I caught him and imprisoned him.”
Arabel took his hands. “How warm and pleasant,” she thought. Idan felt how cold her palms were.
“It doesn’t matter who put an end to this issue — me or you,” Arabel said and, bending down, kissed him on the cheek, despite her fatigue and desire to sleep.
“Ask away. I can see in your eyes that you want to ask something,” Arabel smiled again.
“How did you know?” asked Idan.
After a short silence Arabel said:
“Darkia. She informed me.”
