Chapter 681: I can… but I don’t want to

From the very early morning, Anna, Richard, Inessa and Ivette, overcome with excitement, could not find a place for themselves, waiting outside Arabel’s bedroom for her to wake up.

From time to time, one of them opened the door of the room to check if Arabel was awake.

For everyone present, the wait dragged on for an excruciatingly long time.

“Where’s Idan?” Richard asked after a long silence.

“Sierra said he went to rest because he hadn’t slept a wink all night,” Ivette replied.

“How the hell do they want to hold a wedding at a time like this?” Anna protested, worried for both of them.

The others remained silent, but deep down they agreed with her, not understanding why there was such a rush.

Once again opening the bedroom door, Anna saw her daughter, finally waking up, sitting on the bed and crying quietly.

When Anna saw that her daughter had woken up, she was happy at first, but then, noticing that she was crying, she became worried again and hurried inside.

The others, noticing her reaction, also hurried after her. They were also happy to see Arabel awake, but like Anna, they were worried when they noticed her tears.

“Ah, Arabel,” Anna said, coming up to her daughter and sitting down next to her. She was in no hurry to hug Arabel, fearing that she was crying from pain, and did not want to make the situation worse.

Arabel noticed Anna, glanced at her, then at the others, and hurried to hide her face with her hands.

“Is something hurting you?” asked Anna.

Arabel shook her head at her mother’s question, sniffing, and Anna, like the others, breathed a sigh of relief.

“Then… why are you crying?”

Arabel remained silent in response to her mother’s question.

“Can we reschedule your wedding for another day?” Anna suggested, not waiting for her daughter’s answer and seeing her condition.

“No,” Arabel hastened to reply. “We can’t reschedule the wedding.”

“Why?” asked Anna, like the others, not quite understanding what was going on. “Is it because of the power that binds you together?”

Hearing her mother’s question, Arabel unclenched her hands and looked at her. At that moment, everyone saw her completely black eye and, despite all their efforts, they could not hide their surprise and even fear.

“That’s… one of the reasons…” Arabel whispered, lowering her gaze and trying to hide her right eye, paying attention to her blackened hair.

Anna sighed, then looked at the people around her.

“Richard, please come out of the room and leave us alone,” she asked.

Richard nodded silently, agreeing with her request. With one last look at his daughter, he left, closing the bedroom door behind him, leaving the women alone.

When they were alone, Anna turned to Arabel and asked:

“Tell me, Belle,” — Anna said, using the same name Idan had used for Arabelle.

Arabel caught this moment and abruptly raised her head, staring intently at her mother.

“Do you want this wedding yourself?” asked Anna, undeterred by her daughter’s gaze.

After a short silence, Arabel said:

“Don’t call me that,” — she demanded.

“Only he can address me like that.”

Seeing a reflection of herself in her daughter, Anna couldn’t help but laugh, which surprised the two sisters watching them, Ivette and Inessa.

“Okay, okay, Belle, I won’t call you that anymore,” Anna said, laughing, as if deliberately trying to provoke her daughter.

But Arabel did not succumb to the provocation. She knew her mother’s temper, and no matter how angry she was, she decided to restrain herself so as not to give her more reason to ridicule.

“Okay, okay, I won’t do it anymore,” Anna repeated, stopping laughing.

“So tell me honestly, do you want to marry Idan?”

Arabel looked down and nodded.:

“Yes, I do. I want to marry him,” she confessed.

When Ivette and Inessa heard their daughter-in-law’s confession, they couldn’t help but smile.

They both approved of Arabel as Idan’s girlfriend and already saw her as their daughter-in-law.

“But…” Arabel stammered, pulling at her hair.

Anna did not immediately realize the reason for her daughter’s bad mood. As a woman who was also always very sensitive about her appearance, she could understand her feelings.

Especially on such an important day as a wedding.

Anna briefly remembered her wedding, where she wasn’t too worried about her appearance, because everything was arranged by contract and under family pressure.

However, she couldn’t use this as an example for her daughter.

After all, Anna saw how much Arabel was in love with Idan, and understood how much she was worried about how she would look that day in front of him, especially at the altar.

“Can’t you use your disguise to hide all this?” asked Anna, remembering the {Ghost Mask} that the couple used to change their appearance.

“I can… but I don’t want to,” — Arabel muttered. She had already thought about this option, but the idea that she was getting married hiding behind a mask, even behind the mask of herself, seemed to her a betrayal.

The very idea of using a “Ghost Mask” on such an important day was repulsive to her. Arabel’s mind was in complete turmoil.

Arabel did not hesitate to talk about her experiences, and upon hearing this, Anna and the others could not help but smile.

“We look so much alike, maybe I should pretend to be you and marry Idan?” Anna almost said jokingly, but at the last moment she restrained herself.

“Don’t worry about your appearance, dear. I am sure that my son loves you not only because of your beauty,” Ivette assured with a smile.

Inessa did not correct her sister that Idan was her nephew. She understood that it was not she who raised her son, but Ivette, and therefore the latter had more right to call him her son than Inessa herself.

“Does Dan like me just because I’m beautiful?” Arabel wondered, and then answered herself.: “Of course not!”

“Then why bother? I am sure you will find a way to fix all this,” said Anna.

“Ah!” exclaimed Arabel, remembering the most important thing.

“System!” she called.

[Yes, the Host. As soon as you activate this System in full force, it will get rid of the influence of the Dark System, and you will return to your former appearance], — without waiting for a question, the System already knew what Arabel wanted to ask, and gave her answer.

Hearing what she wanted to hear right now, Arabel’s mood instantly changed, and she couldn’t help but smile.
