Chapter 744: Damn it, Belle, when did you become so distracted?
Chapter 744: Damn it, Belle, when did you become so distracted?
"Has this damn System fallen in love with me?"— this strange thought came to Arabel's mind when she saw a lonely figure coming out of a dark corner.
From the figure, which was slender, with curvy curves from below and above and a slim waist, Arabel realized that she was looking at a very attractive girl.
"Wait a minute, what if she didn't fall in love with me, but with my husband?" Arabel asked herself. After carefully looking at the sensual figure in front of her, she began to convince herself that she was right, and her mood began to deteriorate rapidly.
And Arabel's suspicions were not unfounded.
"Darkia has all my memories and maybe all my emotions that I felt for Dan.", — She thought with growing alarm.
"Hehe," — Darkia's strange laugh rang out, which began to infuriate Arabel, but at the same time softened the tension a little.
"You caught me," Darkia said, half of her face was hidden behind a cloth mask, and only her eyes, black as the abyss, were visible. Unlike in the daytime, she wasn't trying to hide them behind sunglasses right now.
"How long have you been here?" asked Arabel, and her gaze expressed displeasure.
"Since the sun went down below the horizon and dusk came," Darkia confessed honestly.
"I'm here to make sure that my gift will definitely find its recipient," Darkia added, as if justifying herself. "I wasn't even going to come out of the shadows; I was just watching."
Arabel's lips twitched as she heard Darkia's complaint, which almost openly told her that it was her fault that she was discovered.
"You know, you're starting to piss me off," Arabel confessed.
"Why?" — Darkia asked, and Arabel resisted the urge to slap her after hearing that "Why" for the umpteenth time that day.
"Is she kidding me?" Arabel thought, not knowing if Darkia really wasn't aware of what she was doing, or if she was just pretending.
"Just in case, it's better to be prepared for the worst. So as not to be surprised and not to suffer much from the consequences," Arabel decided after a moment's thought.
She noted that she should always be on her guard against Darkia.
Accepting the observer's presence, Arabel tried to ignore Darkia and returned to carrying out her original plan.
"I hope you're right in your claims that manipulation abilities won't work on me, System," Arabel said in her mind, trying to drown out the remaining doubts.
[Host. It follows from the information received that the ability of the Host you are targeting mainly affects women. This most likely indicates that his ability is based on charm.]
[Thanks to your second contract, you have gained immunity to these types of abilities, so you don't have to be afraid.]
[Even if this is not the case, the timely formation of the First Constellation has greatly enhanced the Host's "Soul Power", bringing it to the ceiling of a level capable of supporting the current growth of this world. This means that there is unlikely to be a creature with the ability to manipulate, capable of influencing the Host.]
Arabel's last doubts were dispelled after the timely confirmation of the System, which had been giving its advice infrequently lately.
Arabel didn't want to fall into a trap again or face something like this because of her naivety and simple desire for "revenge."
Using her Soul Forces, she silently opened the door leading inside the building. After making sure that she was in hiding in the form of a Dark Valkyrie, Arabel took a step inside, but suddenly stopped, startled by a sudden realization.
"How? How can Darkia see me through the concealment?" she thought in disbelief.
"Maybe she didn't know about my presence and didn't see me, and I gave myself away when I found her?" Arabel continued to wonder.
"Or is she somehow constantly watching me and knows where I am?"
"Damn it, Belle, when did you become so distracted?" she scolded herself. She also partly blamed Idan for being so good the last two nights that her thoughts kept returning to those moments, distracting her from reality.
The fact that Arabel had also studied the Manual of Dual Cultivation before coming here only added fuel to the fire of her dirty distracting thoughts.
"Get it together, Belle," she said, slapping her cheeks once more, and finally stepped inside the luxurious building that screamed of the wealth and influence of the Hugh family.
The building was huge, with three floors.
As in her memories from the Ascension Trial, one of the largest parts of the building belonged to Christopher and his followers. After Christopher became an Awakened One, almost all of his servants and followers were replaced by young girls.
As Arabel walked through Christopher's part of the building, she noticed several young girls dressed as maids and security guards.
Arabel stopped when she reached the door leading to the designated room.
She didn't dare to use her Soul Power to explore what was going on inside, for fear of being exposed. However, judging by the noise she could hear, there were quite a lot of people there.
"How do I get in without attracting attention?" — She thought. And at that moment, her attention was attracted by a maid who was pushing a small cart with food.
"That's it!" — Arabel had a brilliant idea.
The maid turned out to be a young girl with blonde hair, a slightly sad face, and even more so an ordinary mortal.
Standing in the girl's way, Arabel used a concealment spell to hide her and the cart from prying eyes. Without giving the victim time to recover, she stunned her with a light blow.
Arabel caught the girl and laid her on the floor. She then removed the {Ghost Mask} from her face, put it on the girl, and used another mask ability to copy the maid's appearance.
"Great!" — Arabel was delighted, looking at the changed {Ghost Mask}. Putting the mask on her face and looking at the unconscious girl, Arabel simply found the nearest empty room and hid her there, taking off her clothes along the way.
Soon, a maid appeared at the door of the room, pushing a cart, and after pausing for a while, she knocked on the door.
