Chapter 743: Familiar but at the same time unfamiliar place

When the sun set and evening fell, Arabel came out of the “bedroom” with a flushed face, breathing heavily and very excited.

She didn’t expect that just studying the first chapter of the Manual of Dual Cultivation would elicit such a strong response from her.

Arabel had a chance and time to relieve the tension, but she decided to wait until nightfall to not only satisfy her desire with her husband, but also to experience what she learned from reading this slightly sinful manual.

“Pull yourself together, Belle.”, — Arabel told herself, patting her cheeks in an attempt to drive away the constantly obscene thoughts.

“It was a mistake to study this manual so early,” — Arabel decided.

She realized that she had only recently tasted the forbidden fruit with her husband. Both of them were still passionate about each other, and it wasn’t time for their relationship to become commonplace yet.

“With everything we have, I do not know if we will ever get tired of ‘this’ and each other,” Arabel mused as she teleported to the permanent Access Portal that led to their Guild’s branch in the capital.

She decided not to use her Access Portal, fearing that Darkia might be waiting for her there. However, even after passing through the portal leading to their Guild’s branch, her fears did not disappear.

“Darkia knows about this portal, too,” — Arabel sighed, appearing on the other side in the form of a Dark Valkyrie, activating concealment and disappearing into thin air in front of everyone.

Arabel left the building unnoticed and soared into the evening sky of the capital.

Through her connection, she sensed her first contract, Bera, who at that time was on the other side of the city with the members of the Queens Guild.

“Ned and the rest of the Doppelgangers must be very busy protecting everyone in our Guild right now,” Arabel whispered, appreciating the Doppelgangers’ contribution and the fear they brought to everyone. Their very presence prevented unnecessary attacks on their Guild members.

“The most dangerous existence has temporarily concluded a truce with us”, — Arabel said in her mind. Despite the outward friendliness, she understood that Darkia, despite all the friendliness, was the greatest potential danger at the moment.

“It’s time,” she said, enjoying the evening view of the vibrant capital for the last time, and headed in a certain direction.

Cutting through the night sky at high speed, hidden from the eyes of all living beings, Arabel noticed the outlines of her destination from afar. The closer she got, the more her heart began to beat with excitement.

She had been putting off this moment for a long time, but finally tonight she would sort out this problem, and one thorn in her soul would be less.

Arabel, standing in the sky above a vast private area, stared intently at a familiar but at the same time unfamiliar place.

It was here that one of her gifts, given to her in honor of her wedding to Idan, was located. She was determined to claim this “valuable” gift.

Arabel was lost in memories of her first Ascension trial. A picture appeared before her eyes: the territory she was currently hovering over and, most importantly, the residence was engulfed in flames.

Remembering how in these memories a lone fiery figure with a fiery blade in his hands and fiery wings on his back stood among the flames — the man who later became her husband—Arabel involuntarily broke into a sweet loving smile.

“Oh shit, it’s like I’m turning into my pink version!” Arabel laughed to herself as she slowly glided down to the Hugh family’s main residence.

Thanks to the carefully gathered information from Leo, Arabel knew the layout of the building perfectly, including the location of the rooms where her target lived. She was also aware of the man’s approximate daily routine.

“He should be in his room with his ‘girls’ now,” Arabel whispered, and her voice turned a little colder when she mentioned them.

“After my disappearance with Dan, Christopher, having received a second injection of the serum, became an Awakened of the second wave. No matter how hard Leo tried, he couldn’t pinpoint exactly which system he had awakened,” Arabel recalled the information about Christopher that she had read earlier.

“There is an assumption that his system is related to manipulation. It works especially well on young girls. Thanks to this, he does not hesitate to appear with new companions every time. And the most amazing thing is that all these girls behave as if they are immensely in love with him and are ready to do anything for him.”

“Even some young Awakened girls have fallen under his spell.”

“However, it seems that his powers don’t extend to the first wave awakened ones like Irene and the others. All of them at one time clearly felt his attempts to influence their minds. Because of this, of course, he was almost killed. Since then, he has become very careful and tries to avoid the awakened ones of the first wave.”

“I assume that Christopher, even before reaching the level of Irene and the others, who were a year ahead of him, was trying to manipulate them. But having failed, he decided to lay low and gain strength.

If he gets stronger, then maybe his ability can influence the likes of Irene and the others. Therefore, the sooner I deal with him, the better it will be for everyone, not just for me.”

The closer Arabel got to the building, the more she thought about it. It was as if she was looking for an excuse for what she was about to do.

Arabel had previously identified a convenient location to enter the Hugh family’s main residence. Stopping, she began to carefully inspect the surroundings so as not to be ambushed again.

Her caution was not in vain: she turned to a dark corner nearby, sensing a strange, barely perceptible presence.

“Come out,” she said, channeling her Soul Force into that corner.

“I’m coming out, I’m coming out,” a familiar emotionless voice rang in her ears, which was beginning to annoy her greatly.

“Darkia…” Arabel hissed, recognizing the watcher.

“How could I have missed it?” She thought, remembering that she had planned all her plans and the place to enter the building even before she encountered the Dark System. It turned out that Darkia was aware of all her plans.

Darkia’s strange and persistent pursuit, wherever she went, began to frighten Arabel a little.
