Chapter 778: Are you friends?

Chapter 778: Are you friends?

Beatrice realized that there were people sitting at the same table with her who, like her, were looking for a chef who could cook dishes from a new world.

Although they had a similar goal, they were different from each other. Beatrice was an ordinary mortal woman, but those sitting across from her weren't.

How could a woman like her not be afraid of these people?

Deep down, Beatrice was terrified, but professional restraint did not allow her to show it outwardly, and she tried to appear calm.

"Heh," — Darkia chuckled, as if sensing Beatrice's fear and not buying her appearance.

"Why do you need this chef?" she managed to say.

"Why? I want to open my own restaurant, and I need a talented chef," Arabel replied, really considering Sofia for this role.

"I like her cooking, so if she refuses her offer, then I'll just take her in," Darkia said.

"I understand that you are unusual people and perhaps even Awakened, but do you realize that by taking this chef who has already entered the Royce family's field of vision, are you going to compete with them?" Beatrice couldn't help but ask. Regardless of whether she reports her discoveries or not, the Royce family will still find out the truth about what happened here.

"If you don't tell me and pass on the information yourself, the Royce family won't know anything," Darkia said with confidence.

Arabel, even though she was sitting with her eyes closed, turned to Darkia. She immediately understood what she was hinting at.

The Eye of the Web was involved in this case. Not only was he a master at gathering information, but he was also adept at surveillance and protection. If he's behind all this, then just like Darkia said, the Royce family won't find any important information.

"Moreover, what can this Royce family do against me?" asked Darkia with a grin. Then, turning to Arabel, she continued, "Not to mention her, I am more than sure that the Royce family is not powerful enough, strong enough, and brave enough to stand up to her."

Arabel did not refute or confirm Darkia's words. However, she was sure that her and Idan's Guild was so strong now that none of the influential families in the Federation could handle it.

Meanwhile, Beatrice turned pale and tried to stop her hands from shaking, but she failed.

The way Darkia spoke and behaved made Beatrice suspect that she was going to be eliminated so that she would not reveal anything superfluous.

"Do you see how you scared her? Don't do that anymore," Arabel asked Darkia, but she just grinned in response.

"Relax, Beatrice, we won't do anything to you, even if you tell the Royce family about what happened here," Arabel wanted to say that they didn't care if the Royce family found out about what happened or not.

Beatrice reacted with disbelief to Arabel's words, remaining tense.

"Would you like something else to eat?" Arabel asked. "There's still some time before the end of this eatery's working day, why don't we continue discussing these great dishes?"

"It's a tempting offer, I agree," replied the one from whom Arabel had not expected such an answer.

She turned to Darkia.

"How can you want to eat after all that you've already eaten?"

"Won't you burst?"

"Don't worry, I won't burst," Darkia assured, picking up the menu and starting to choose another dish.

"Tell me, is this the ability of the Host you've mastered, or is it your personal ability?" Arabel asked through the Soul Force.

"Both, a combination of both abilities," Darkia replied. "With other Hosts, I wouldn't be able to eat so much."

"So if you leave this Host, then..."

"Well, she'll spit out everything she's eaten and what she hasn't digested while I've been in control of her body," Darkia finished for Arabel.

That solved one of the mysteries that had plagued Arabel for a long time.

When it came to eating, Beatrice relaxed her guard again, without realizing it. And when Arabel and Darkia invited the waitress to order again, she did not miss the opportunity and also ordered a couple of dishes that she had not tried yet.

"You two still haven't told me who you are, even though you know who I am," Beatrice said, wanting to know who was sitting in front of her.

"I—" Darkia began, but Arabel stopped her.

"You don't want to know who we are," Arabel said. "If you know less, you sleep better, Beatrice."

"But if by the end of the business hours you still want to know who we are, then we will reveal this secret, but you must be prepared for the consequences," Arabel warned.

Beatrice nodded, looked carefully at Arabel and Darkia again, and suddenly asked:

"Are you friends?"

"Huh? What? Friends?" — Arabel was surprised to hear Beatrice's question. She turned to Darkia, who was also looking at her, and then both of them answered at the same time.:

"Of course not," — Arabel said.

"Of course, yes," — Darkia said.

Beatrice stared at them both in disbelief.

Arabel quickly turned to Darkia and asked:

"Since when have we become friends?"

"Aren't we friends?" Darkia inclined her head.

"Of course not!" Arabel objected.

"Oh,"— Darkia gasped.

"Then... then we're more than friends, are we?"

"You just..." Arabel stopped in mid-sentence. She wanted to say that Darkia was like a "splinter" who constantly interfered with her and her husband, but she restrained herself, fearing that her words might offend Darkia.

"We have a complicated relationship, but we are not friends," Arabel said, turning to Beatrice.

"Oh," — Beatrice nodded, indicating that she understood.

Darkia was smiling broadly, and it was hard to understand what she was thinking at that moment.

Soon, the dishes they ordered were brought to them, and they started eating again.

Arabel and Darkia enjoyed their meal in silence, listening to Beatrice's endless arguments about the quality of the dishes. Once again, succumbing to her professional nature, she began to give her grades.

So the three of them waited until the end of the eateries working day to finally see Sofia.

The waitresses asked them to leave the establishment, referring to the end of the working day. However, they asked to meet with the cook and discuss some issues.

The waitresses initially refused to comply with their request, but as soon as Arabel and Darkia made it clear that they were Awakened, the situation changed. The waitress quickly disappeared to announce them.

In less than a minute, a young girl came out of the kitchen, accompanied by a middle-aged woman.
