Chapter 779: New Task
Chapter 779: New Task
Sofia did not have bright blonde hair or other distinctive features in her appearance. She had long black hair, neatly styled so as not to interfere with cooking, and brown eyes, like Idan and most ordinary people.
As a Silver Rank Awakened, she possessed a very attractive and pretty appearance. Her height was average, and her figure was quite attractive, with feminine curves that could attract the attention of the opposite sex.
Standing next to her was a middle-aged woman who looked very much like her. She had the same black hair and eyes, but unlike Sofia, who looked calm and full of energy, the woman seemed a little tired.
While Sofia's mother seemed tired and slightly worried, Sofia herself gave the impression of calm and confident. Arabel was very impressed by this character of hers.
While Arabel and the others looked at her appraisingly, Sofia also studied them carefully.
Beatrice caught her first attention. Being passionate about cooking from an early age, Sofia couldn't help but recognize this woman. A faint smile appeared on her face as she realized that her skill had finally caught the attention of someone as outstanding as Beatrice.
"Miss Beatrice, I can't believe you've visited our humble eatery," Sofia said with a smile, greeting her guest. She was incredibly happy that her skill had finally attracted the attention of such an outstanding personality as Beatrice.
"Huh? Yeah?" — Beatrice was slightly stunned. Then, without realizing it, she broke into a smile. "Haha, I'm already pleased that you've recognized me."
Then Sofia's gaze fell on Darkia, and she recognized her as well. Sofia couldn't help but notice this customer, who in the last couple of days had ordered as many dishes as about ten people could eat.
Finally, her gaze settled on Arabel, and she frowned, realizing that she had seen this woman somewhere before, but could not remember where exactly.
It was only when Arabel noticed her gaze and smiled that the scene of the Dark Dragon's attack on the Capital flashed through Sofia's mind. That day, this woman was a visitor to her establishment.
Sofia remembered well the smile Arabel had given her before she disappeared.
"So, Miss Beatrice, why did you want to meet me?" Sofia asked, assuming that of the three guests, Beatrice was the main one here, and the other two came with her.
"This is..." Beatrice, caught off guard again, turned to Arabel and Darkia and noticed that they had motioned for her to start the conversation first.
"Sofia, I've tried some of the dishes you've cooked, and I can say that it was something incredible and revolutionary that I've ever tasted.
Your cooking is what the world has been looking for for the last couple of years, and in my opinion, a talent like yours is not suitable for a small establishment like this. Therefore, how would you like to join the Royce family and run one of their best restaurants?" — Beatrice, seeing that the two were in no hurry to talk, could not miss the opportunity and proposed to Sofia about joining the Royce family.
Arabel, observing the situation, did not interfere. She saw that Sofia knew Beatrice, and let Beatrice try to bring her into the Royce family to see how Sofia would react.
"Thank you for the praise, Miss Beatrice," Sofia said with sincere joy. "It is a great honor for me to receive such words from such a respected person like you."
"You're right, this place really isn't enough for me," Sofia confessed. "But you have to start somewhere, and this place is just my first scene."
"And to be honest, your offer is really tempting," she continued. "I'm willing to consider it if the Royce family fulfills one of my conditions."
"What's the condition?" asked Beatrice, trying to contain her excitement.
"I want a culinary duel with the best chefs of the Royce family, and if they can satisfy my requirement, I will consider their offer," Sofia said, putting forward her conditions.
"Oh," — Arabel suddenly said, drawing everyone's attention.
Arabel, ignoring the people around her, continued to keep her eyes closed, listening to the notification from the System.
[Ding! The task was given: "Challenge Sofia to a culinary duel."]
[Ding! The reward for completing the task is a random recipe from the Supreme Chef System.]
[Ding! This task contains a hidden condition. If you complete it, you will receive a unique reward]
"A task? We're just happy about it," Arabel thought, smiling and genuinely excited about the task ahead.
"Wow, that's something new," — she thought when she heard about the hidden condition.
"What could that be?" she wondered, finally noticing that people were looking at her.
"Is something wrong?" Arabel asked.
There was silence for a moment, and then Sofia turned to Beatrice and asked:
"Well, what do you think of my condition?"
"Wait a minute, I need to clarify this matter with the Royce family, but I'm sure they'll agree," Beatrice said, simultaneously pulling her smartphone out of her purse.
"Wait, Beatrice," Arabel interjected.
"Sofia," she said to Sofia. "How about a cooking match with me?"
"Huh? What?" everyone was surprised, including Sofia.
"Although I don't have my own restaurant yet, and I don't look like a chef, I really like cooking, and I'm quite confident in my abilities," Arabel said confidently.
"Ho! It will be funny," Darkia said with a smile, attracting attention with her unusual voice.
Beatrice stopped and remembered Arabel's words that she loves cooking and wants to please her husband with delicious food.
"Indeed," she agreed with Darkia, intrigued and eager to see what Arabel was capable of, since she was so confident about her skills, especially after tasting Sofia's dishes.
"Why not?" agreed Sofia, genuinely delighted to meet someone who was confident and eager to challenge her.
"Great," — Arabel nodded. "Then let's discuss the bet."
"A bet?" said Sofia's mother, finally getting her word in.
"Well, what kind of competition without a bet?" replied Arabel.
"That's true," Sofia agreed.
"Since it was my suggestion, I'm making my demand," Arabel said. "If I win, then you, Sofia, will join my Guild, and if you do, then I will let you learn yourself with this."
After these words, a small book appeared in Arabel's hands.
Sofia's eyes widened when she saw the book. The others, except Darkia, didn't know what it was until Arabel said it out loud herself, as if dropping a bomb in their minds.
"This is a Manual to Basic Cooking Techniques.
