Chapter 780: You can address me as Mrs. Fein
When the world changed and it became possible to visit Junonia, people learned about the existence of so-called "Manuals".
Therefore, when Arabel announced that she was holding one of these "Manuals," everyone was shocked to see it with their own eyes. But what particularly surprised them was that it was a cooking-related Manual.
After showing everyone a bit, Arabel put the manual back into the spatial ring.
"How's it going? Do you agree to such a bet?" " she asked.
"Yes, I agree," Sofia replied with a twinkle in her eyes. Her attitude towards Arabel changed a lot after she took out and showed her this manual.
As an Awakened One with a System related to cooking, Sofia was aware of the value of this manual and was very interested in the opportunity to study it.
She also understood that if Arabel had this manual, then her words that she was good at cooking were not an empty boast. And instead of being wary, Sofia became even more eager to compete with Arabel.
"Mom, please go back to the kitchen and prepare two sets of identical ingredients and two workstations," Sofia asked, turning to her mother, who was still in a state of shock.
"Huh? Yes, of course, now," Sofia's mother nodded, and, calling the waitresses who were watching them, asked them to follow her and prepare a place for the competition.
Beatrice blinked at Arabel in disbelief. She had just witnessed the existence of an amazing thing that almost all chefs dreamed of.
"A culinary manual," she repeated to herself, wondering, "What would happen if this manual became public and all chefs had access to it?"
"Will ordinary people be able to practice this manual?"
"Since it's a competition, we need judges to evaluate our dishes," Sofia said, turning to Beatrice. "And I think Miss Beatrice is perfect for this role."
"What? Me?" asked Beatrice.
"I agree," Arabel nodded, approving of Beatrice's candidacy. "But one judge won't be enough."
"Yes, we need at least three," — Sofia agreed this time.
"I can be one of the judges," Darkia offered her candidacy.
Arabel and Sophia looked at her in silence. Sophia then turned her gaze to Arabel.
"Well, I don't mind," — Arabel said. "If there's a person who has no personal interests and only likes delicious food, it's her."
"Okay," — Sofia said, although she was a little doubtful, she decided to agree to Darkia's candidacy as a judge.
"We need another completely independent person," Sofia added.
"That's... if you don't mind, can I invite someone I know?" Beatrice suddenly suggested.
"I don't mind," Arabel said first.
"Me too. I trust Miss Beatrice," Sofia said.
"I'll be quick," with these words, Beatrice, slightly agitated, stepped aside, pulled out her smartphone and began sorting through her contacts to find her friend's number.
Arabel, Sofia and Darkia — all three were Awakened and could have overheard Beatrice's conversation, but neither Arabel nor Sofia did this, respecting Beatrice's personal space. Darkia didn't care, she just smiled slightly after overhearing something interesting.
"I've arranged everything, he'll be here soon," Beatrice said with slight excitement, approaching everyone.
Arabel's eyebrows rose, even though her eyes were still closed.
Sofia, hearing this, frowned slightly, because at that moment there were only women in the room.
"Don't worry, the person I invited is a respected person whom I trust. Besides, he's retired now," Beatrice hastened to reassure them.
"Hmm... okay then," — Arabel nodded.
"Let's sit down and wait for the third judge to arrive," Sofia suggested, and the four of them took their seats at the same table.
Sofia called the waitresses over and asked them to bring them drinks and snacks.
"How should I address you?" Sofia asked Darkia and Arabel.
"Darkia," — Darkia said calmly.
"You can address me as Mrs. Fein," Arabel said with a smile.
"Fain? How is Queen Irene?" asked Sofia, unable to resist her curiosity.
"Yes, like her, but I'm not her," Arabel smiled, and added to herself: "But she's my sister-in-law."
The waitresses quickly brought drinks and snacks.
While waiting for the arrival of the third judge, Sofia started chatting with Beatrice, who, in turn, praised Sofia's culinary skills.
Arabel and Darkia sipped their drinks in silence, listening to the conversation of the two and not interfering in their conversation.
After a while, Sofia's mother joined them, finishing all the preparations. And soon after that, a third judge appeared.
The door of the diner opened, and a handsome man in his 60s and 70s, tall and sturdy, entered. He moved with the help of a wooden cane with a metal handle.
The man was wearing a coat, under which was visible a white shirt with an even collar. His face was clear-cut, with noticeable age lines. His hair is gray, neatly trimmed, and there is a slight gray stubble on his face.
Beatrice exclaimed, getting up from her seat and rushing towards the man.
Arthur, as Beatrice called him, looked at her with a warm smile.
"Beatrice, you made me drive so much at such a late hour, and I hope this competition was worth it," he said, greeting Beatrice and then turning his attention to the others present.
"Trust me, you won't regret coming here," Beatrice said with confidence.
"So, who's competing with whom?" asked Arthur, and was pleasantly surprised to find that only young beauties were gathered in the hall.
"This is Arthur Royce," Darkia informed Arabel using her Soul Force.
"Royce?" — Arabel raised an eyebrow.
"Yes, he is the elder of the Royce family," Darkia confirmed. "In his youth, like Beatrice, he worked as a restaurant critic. Then he married a woman from the Royce family, joined them and became a quality inspector in their restaurants. He is currently retired."
"As you may have already guessed, this Arthur was Beatrice's mentor at the time when he had time to share his experiences with the younger generation," Darkia added.
"Yes, you've found a great use for the abilities of the Eye of the Web," Arabel remarked after listening to the information about this man.
"He's one of the few Hosts that I consider my best acquisition," Darkia replied proudly. "I had to spend a lot of time searching for him, and if it wasn't for your help, I wouldn't have found him so easily."
"Hmm," Arabel snorted, realizing what Darkia meant.
If her memories hadn't been read, she wouldn't have known that Idan had put a curse on Eye of the Web. Without all these clues, Darkia would not have been able to find the Eye of the Web so easily.
