Chapter 999: It will be difficult, of course, but not impossible
Thunderstorm Anomaly.
The tense atmosphere stretched like a spring about to burst. The beasts and creatures from other worlds looked greedily at Lina’s ring.
The metal branch, having completed the blessing, lost its hardness and melted. At the same time, Lina let her guard down for a moment, and the creatures from other worlds decided to take the chance. Several platinum-ranked flying beasts that they had tamed immediately rushed after the ring.
The Creatures of Light, Darkness, and Sky were not united in their intentions. Everyone wanted to get the ring for themselves.
The beasts, on the other hand, hesitated and lost the initiative. No matter how great their greed, they still revered the Tree.
To the accompaniment of thunder and lightning, nine birds, imbued with the power of lightning, rushed to the ring, seized with thirst to take possession of it.
Their minds were enslaved. The order of the new masters completely clouded their perception, leaving only one goal in their minds. So they made the biggest mistake of their lives — they ignored the one to whom this ring belonged.
Competing with each other, the birds covered the distance in a matter of seconds, striving to be the first to grab prey. But as soon as one of them approached the ring, a blinding flash engulfed everything around.
The last thing they saw was splatters of blood, their own severed bodies mingling with the bodies of the others, and then they were swallowed up by endless darkness.
All nine birds that dared to steal the ring were hacked to death by Lina’s four deadly wings, who showed no mercy.
The tree hidden behind the lightning sphere began to emit a shrill, creaking, and screeching metallic sound.
“Do you need help?”
“Protect the seeds and you?”
While the beasts and creatures from other worlds were trying to figure out what was going on, Lina was able to grasp the intentions of the Tree and understand what it wanted to say.
Shortly after, Lina, being Arabel’s champion and having a simplified version of the System, began receiving notifications from it.
[Ding! The Champion task has been issued. “Protect the Tree and the Seeds of law at the moment of their maturation and prevent neither beasts nor creatures from other worlds from appropriating them while the Tree is vulnerable and occupied with an important stage of its mission”]
[The task will be considered a failure if more than a third of the Seeds of law are stolen.]
[The reward for successfully completing the task, in addition to the blessings and Seeds of law already received, will depend on the total number of protected Seeds of law.]
[Please note: Since the Tree of the Source Lightning and Metal is one of the four Source Trees, the task will take into account the progress of the protected Seeds of law in the other three Trees.]
“System?”
This was the first time that the System Lina had received from Arabel had given her a task.
“Protect the Tree and the Seeds? And if I succeed, will I get a reward?”
The System itself was unique and magical, as Lina had already seen from personal experience. The opportunity to receive a reward from her couldn’t help but attract her attention.
Lina felt a strong excitement and desire.
She glanced at the Tree.
The seeds of the law on its branches hadn’t matured yet, but they should soon.
She then looked at the creatures from other worlds and the beasts that were clustered around the tree in small groups.
The task required protecting the tree and preventing them from taking the seeds.
“It will be difficult, of course, but not impossible,” — Lina thought, confident in her strength and speed.
If the assignment had been about not letting a single seed go to waste, she would have been worried. But with the current demands, she was more than confident that she could do it.
And then she remembered her sword.
The Tree’s confession and plea for protection had awakened hope in her that perhaps now she could use it.
Confident in her rightness, she drew her sword. When she gripped the hilt, her eyes shone, and a joyful and confident smile appeared on her face.
The weight of the sword no longer seemed too heavy for her, it returned to the state Lina was used to.
“With my faithful companion in my arms, I am more than confident that I can protect you,” she said, addressing the tree, and in response to her words, it made a new metallic sound.

An Ice Anomaly.
The situation was similar to what happened in the Thunderstorm Anomaly, with only one difference.: Lucinda had no affinity for the elements of the Anomaly itself. She had to use the power of Light, a symbiotic creature of Light, and her Path of Mastery, the Path of Staff.
An elegant white armor appeared above her Kingdom Guild uniform, emitting light, and a long white staff appeared in her hand. Combined with her four wings of Light, Lucinda became the embodiment of a divine being descended from heaven and a true warrior Valkyrie in battle armor.
All those who tried to steal her ring, instead of mercy and compassion, faced the fury emanating from her element of light.
One of the Guardians of the Light, who was watching Lucinda’s actions, was surprised at first, and then her face distorted with rage.
She found out not only that Lucinda has a symbiotic creature of light from their world, but also where she got it from. More precisely, she realized that earlier this creature belonged to another Guardian of Light, the same as herself.
Instead of attacking right away, she preferred to wait and observe the development of events, like many others, including Irina and her faction.
Irina’s gaze followed Lucinda with undisguised admiration.
Until that moment, she had never met or heard anyone who looked so much like her, but for some reason, the power emanating from Lucinda seemed vaguely familiar to her.
Having beaten out the stupidity of the last beast who dared to steal the ring, Lucinda, like Lina and Esma, received a request from the Tree for protection.
And without hesitation, she accepted the Tree’s request, once again making sure that she had made the right decision by coming to this world.
