Supreme Husband System! & Supreme Wife System!

Chapter 998: Brother

Chapter 998: Brother

[Ding! A task has been received. “Protect the Tree and the Seeds of the law at the moment of their maturation and prevent neither beasts nor creatures from other worlds from appropriating them while the Tree is vulnerable and occupied with an important stage of its mission”]

[The quest will be considered a failure if more than a third of the law seeds are stolen.]

[The reward for successfully completing the quest, in addition to the blessings and law seeds already received, will depend on the total number of protected law seeds.]

[Please note: Since the Tree of the Source Fire and Earth are one of the four Trees of the Source, the task will take into account the progress of the protected Seeds of Law in the other three Trees.]

Idan did not have time to realize all the advantages they had gained, as the System presented him with another test. This time it was a mission.

“Protect the Tree and the Seeds of the Law?”

What struck Idan the most was that for the first time, the System had given him a task that involved not only him and Arabel, but others as well. The outcome of the task depended on the overall contribution, not the individual one.

Now, no matter how hard he tries, if any of the three of them are unable or unwilling to protect the Tree on other Anomalies, the task will fail. After all, apart from him and Lina, Esma and Lucinda didn’t have a System that could inform them about what was happening.

“I hope they can do it,” Idan thought, and he could only believe and hope.

Knowing the Valkyries’ pride, he was sure that if Lucinda and Esma took up the defense, they would give their all.

But Idan wasn’t worried about Lina.

She had a simplified version of the System, and moreover, she was Arabel’s champion, which meant that she would do her best to protect the Tree.

There was still some time left before the seeds of law fully matured, but already many beasts and creatures from other worlds were looking at Idan with a thirst to take his ring away from him.

“Well, the Tree and the task do not prevent me from starting cleaning and reducing the number of potential enemies even before the defense task itself begins,” Idan thought and, having made a decision, turned to Ned.

“Get ready, Ned, it’s going to be hot in here soon.”

The eyes of Ned and his other two clones shone with anticipation. They had been waiting for this moment and were all for it.

And finally, Idan turned his attention to Serafina, the one he had ignored since coming here.

Noticing Idan’s gaze, Serafina asked with a smile:

“Would you like to share what kind of ring this is and what exactly did you get from the Tree?”

Idan couldn’t figure out what was on the woman’s mind.

From the moment she appeared, she acted as if she was not an enemy and that her Domain was not at enmity with the Kingdom.

She refused Rezkar’s offers to form an alliance and did not send several Platinum-ranked Creatures of Light with him.

If she had done that, perhaps there would have been no survivors at all among the Golden-ranked Awakened Ones in the expedition group.

He had no doubt that a figure like Serafina was up to something, but what exactly remained a mystery.

She exuded a sense of absolute confidence and control. Idan experienced something similar when he was around other strong women like Milica, Lucinda, Sierra, and Geminia.

To be honest, Idan doubted that these comparisons were appropriate. It was unlikely that Serafina surpassed all his acquaintances in this regard.

But caution is never superfluous.

“This is my wedding ring, given by my beloved wife,” Idan lied, wanting to test Serafina’s reaction.

Serafina, of course, did not believe it, but decided to play along.

“A gift from Arabel Morgan?”

“Fein, Arabel Fein,”— Idan corrected her.

“And what… do you, like everyone else here, want to take away the ring given to me by my beloved wife?”

In Idan’s left hand, his real wedding ring {Vow of Light} materialized into a crystal sword known as {Light King Sword}.

“I have not fallen so low as to try to take away the so—called symbol of love and loyalty in your world, so no,” Serafina tactfully retreated, assessing the situation and understanding Idan’s true intentions.

Her refusal only increased Idan’s concerns about the danger she posed.

The rest of the beings of Light, although they were unhappy with Serafina’s decision to retreat, could not but recognize her authority. They followed her, moving a little further away from the tree, taking with them the Platinum-ranked beasts they had subdued.

Only the creatures of Darkness and Fire remained.

Unlike Serafina, they weren’t going to back down.

“First the Bloodline, and now my ring?” asked Idan of the creatures of Fire.

If earlier he still had hope that he would not have a conflict with the creatures of Fire, now it has completely disappeared.

“Leave the Darklings to me, Master, and deal with these Sparks yourself,” Ned addressed Idan loudly.

Idan turned to Ned and, seeing in front of him a face very similar to his own, albeit slightly different, said:

“Brother.”

“Not a Master, but a brother. It’s better if it’s a Big brother.”

Idan had been thinking about this for a long time. His wife, Arabel, had many sworn sisters, Valkyries. Whereas he didn’t have many people he could call a friend, let alone a brother.

In this regard, Ned was his most loyal partner, repeatedly proving his loyalty. If Idan could find someone he could call his sworn brother at this time, he would not have found a better candidate than Ned.

“From now on, you’re not just Ned, you’re Ned Fein,” Idan said.

Ned was stunned by this statement, and his usual smile with a hint of madness disappeared, and a joyful one appeared instead.

“Yes! Big brother,” he said.

Through their bond, Idan felt Ned’s overwhelming feelings of joy and recognition.

Shaking his head, Idan turned his attention to the Creatures of Fire, which Ned called Sparks. He decided to deal with them first, leaving Ned to handle the rest.

Idan did not realize that with his confession he helped Ned go through a new stage of self-discovery and opened up new horizons for his development.
