Chapter 623: When Blade Finally Listened

When Blade Finally Listened

"Leave me alone " he said, his chest moving up and down fast. He was clearly very angry but also kind of impressed. "I want to be, with you. I do not want it to be the way around. Do not be so stubborn I want you.

His legs gave out. He fell backward hitting the stone floor really hard. He did not bother to get up. He just lay there on the stone floor his arms flung wide staring up at the ceiling of the room. The ceiling was really away and it did not seem to care about him. He kept staring up at the ceiling like it might have some answers for him for the stone floor and, for everything that was happening to him, the ceiling.

Sweat was running down his face. Falling onto the cold rock that was under him. It hurt to breathe his lungs were still upset from being pushed hard. He was still feeling frustrated it was an bad feeling in his chest.. Now he was also feeling something new. He had respect for something. It was not a respect it was more like he was annoyed and impressed at the same time. The respect was a little annoying, to him. He did not want to feel this way about the thing that was causing him to feel this respect.

He said this to me. I could tell he really meant it. The words were nice even if he did not want to say something. He muttered "You are really something". It sounded like he was being kind, to me even though he did not want to be.

He stood there for a while longer feeling the heat in his chest get a bit better. It was still there. It was not as bad as before. The sweat, on his skin started to cool down. His breathing got slower. Then he let out a breath and hit his thigh. He made himself get up. His joints hurt like they did not want to move.

"Alright " he said, his voice is steady now his eyes get narrower with a spark, in them he is focusing again. If he cannot pull the person with his strength then they will have to cheat the person and he will have to cheat.

The corner of his mouth moved a little as his hand went into the storage ring. His fingers felt a warmth the usual humming of magic that was all squeezed up and waiting to be used like it was alive but really quiet. It was, like standing on the edge of a spell that was ready to go it was scary but it felt good too and it made him think of all the things he could do. A slow and crooked smile started to show on his face the kind of smile that Leon got when he found a way to do something that nobody else would dare to try.

I really like this artifact. The magic artifact is very special, to me. I think the magic artifact is amazing.

He lifted his hand. Brought the ring close to the blade that was stuck in the ground. The ring started to make a humming noise. It was like the ring was being polite. The ring was sending out waves that you could not see. These waves were moving outward from the ring as it figured things out and got ready. The ring locked onto something that was really heavy. This was something that no normal person with magic would even try to move. The air, around the ring started to feel tight. The ring was doing all of this. It made the air feel strange. The ring and the blade were the focus of all this activity.

The sword moved a little a tiny bit. It was like the sword was nervous. The sword had just figured out that it was not by itself, in this fight. The sword trembled it was a movement but you could tell the sword was really scared. The sword was shaking like it had just realized it had to face something or someone. The sword was no longer alone. That made the sword very nervous.

Then—FWUP.

The space where the thing had been was now empty. The thing was. The space was empty.

Leon blinked once. He was staring at the stone. It was completely bare with nothing, on it. The stone was naked. Leon kept looking at the stone.

Then his smile turned into something really mean and plainly bad. He had a grin that was sharp. He did not care that it was wicked. The grin was wicked. It showed that he was not sorry at all.

You can move around easily now. It is simple for you to move. You are able to get around without any trouble. Moving is easy, for you.

He curled his fingers and the weight of the ring answered him. It was not something he could see. He could definitely feel it. The ring felt heavy really heavy. It was like someone had tied a rock to his finger. The ring was pulling down on his hand like an anchor that did not want to move. The weight of the ring was absurd. It felt like the ring had a boulder chained to it. The ring was heavy very heavy.

I really think the person who made this thing is a genius. They did a job. The person who designed this thing should be worshipped. This thing is really amazing. Truly the person who designed this thing is very talented.

Leon let out a breath as the tight knot between his shoulders finally came undone. The air in the treasury did not feel so heavy now. It was not so overpowering it did not feel like it was watching Leon anymore. Leon turned back, to the heart of the treasury letting the feeling settle in so he could take it with him of trying to fight the treasury.

Rows of weapon racks were laid out before him neat and respectful like a big room for storing weapons inside a church. He walked down the middle of them his boots making a sound on the shiny stone floor as he looked at all the weapons. There were bows with strings made of thread that had silver in it axes that shone like ice when the light hit them two knives sitting in black cloth and spears with carvings, on them that glowed slowly like they still remembered being used in a fight. The weapon racks seemed to go on with the weapons all lined up and ready to use like they were waiting for something to happen.

Beneath each weapon sat a small tablet, carefully placed, engraved with names and fragments of history.

Leon stopped what he was doing. Read a few of the letters that were in front of him. He took his time to go through them one by one and see what they said. Leon was really interested, in reading a few more to find out what was going on.

War heroes.

Kings were powerful men who made big empires by fighting and winning wars. These kings had taken the land. Made it theirs using swords and armies. The empires of these kings were built on fighting and strength.

There have been queens who ended wars without using swords or violence. These queens used their will to bring peace. They stopped the fighting not with blades. With their determination and strong character. Queens, like these are truly remarkable.

Some things had a mark on them. Forbiddance Level. This was a warning but it was very serious. Some old things were just too dangerous or too important to be handled by people who did not want to cause problems, in the world. These old things were also sometimes. That is why they had the Forbiddance Level mark on them.

He did not reach for those things. The things were just left there. He did not reach for them the things.

He made a choice on purpose.

There were these two swords with sharp edges. They looked so sharp that they could cut through the air. Then there was this axe that made a humming noise when he touched the handle. It sounded really cold and scary. The moonwood bow was really pretty and pale. It felt warm, to the touch even though the room was cold. He also had these gauntlets that were glowing a bit. They had an steady glow that seemed to be protecting him like a promise. The moonwood bow and the swords and the axe and the gauntlets all seemed special. The swords were sharp. The axe was humming and the moonwood bow was warm and the gauntlets were glowing with this protective mana that felt like a promise.

Each piece felt right. It was not greedy. It was not reckless. It was just practical. These were tools for survival, not things to show off. The tools were, for survival, not trophies.

Then the scrolls showed up.

These old books were stacked along a marble shelf. They were bound in cords that had runes threaded into them. The seals on the books were glowing softly. It was as if they knew someone was watching them. The magic inside these books was really strong. It was waiting quietly for someone to let it out. Leon picked up a few of these books. He could feel the magic in them. It was like a humming sound against his skin. The magic, in these books was powerful. Leon could feel it. These books had a lot of power inside them.

He did not open any of the things that he was supposed to open. The things are still closed because he did not open them. He just left the things alone. They are still not open.

This is not the place. We should not be talking about this here. Some things are private. They should stay that way.

In the end he took a little bit of what the treasury had just enough to get himself ready for whatever was waiting outside these walls. The treasury had a lot of things. He left most of it alone quiet and waiting for things that would happen later on. He did not touch the rest of the treasury it was silent and waiting for the future for things that had not happened yet for the futures that had not been written yet, for the things that the treasury would be used for in the future.

He stopped near the middle of the room and turned around slowly looking at everything. The money, the past the scary feeling of having so much power in one place. The room was really big. Had a lot of things in it. He looked at the wealth and the history and the quiet menace of the power that was stored there. The power was what really caught his attention it was the power of the things, in the room.

Gold and relics shone in the light. They looked like the treasure that a dragon would keep. Each piece told a story of wars that were won and people who died. These things also reminded me of kingdoms that were controlled by people. The gold and relics really sparkled like a dragons treasure.

"This kingdom’s treasury... what a monster."

The words really got to him. He felt soft inside. He was almost amazed. A little smile started to form on his face. His eyes looked around at all the things he had. It was a lot to take in. The stuff, around him was really something.

The man slowly shook his head. He did this slowly like he was really thinking about something. The man was being very careful with his movements like he did not want to do anything. He was shaking his head to say no to something. He was doing it in a way that showed he was being very serious, about it. The mans head shake was slow and quiet like he was trying to be respectful.

It was not about having a lot of money. It was about what that money could do for the people who had it. The money had the power to buy armies and cities. It had the power to control the future. The people, with the money had the ability to make decisions that could change everything. They could buy things. Then break them if they wanted to. The money gave them a lot of power. That was what made it so important. The future was waiting to be shaped by the people with the money.

The man finally got himself together he dusted his clothes then he rolled his shoulders. He turned toward the exit, the exit of the place he was in to leave.

The weight of everything he had just said felt nice against his back. It did not feel like something that was too much for him to handle. More like something he was looking forward to. The weight of everything he had just claimed was a promise, to himself. That felt good.

He did not say it loud but the thought of it felt warm and proud inside his chest:

This place is mine now.

And soon, the world outside will know it.
