Chapter 627: A King’s Room, An Empty Bed

A King’s Room, An Empty Bed

Soon he got to the hallway. The grand corridor was really something to see. He was now standing in the corridor.

The road went on and on before Leon like a golden path through the middle of the manor. It was long and wide. It was shining with a warm and nice light.

At the end of the road there were two really big doors with two men in armor standing next to them.

The moment Leon appeared the two men stood up straight. They looked very serious and disciplined. The manor had a warm light and Leon could see everything clearly.

The two big doors were at the end of the golden road and the men in armor were standing very still next, to them.

The doors themselves were something else entirely.

These doors were made from thick and strong metal. They were not an entrance they were a big statement. There were curved shapes on them with snake heads and flowers all mixed together. Each little part of the flowers and the snakes was carved carefully it was almost too much to look at. When the candlelight moved the metal looked like it was moving too like the shapes on it were pretending to be quiet. The metal seemed to be alive like it was breathing and the creatures, on it were just waiting to move.

Leon did not need to ask who had made the things because it was pretty clear that the person who made them was someone he knew the things being made by someone with a style that Leon was familiar, with the things that Leon was looking at.

Alina’s work.

Of course it was.

A small smile came out on his face it was warm. He was not trying to hide it as he leaned forward.

He pushed the doors open. Then he stepped inside the place. The doors were now open because he had pushed them. He was now, inside the doors that he had pushed open.

And the room...

The place was really big. It was so big that the word spacious did not even begin to cover it. The spacious rooms and spacious hallways made the whole thing feel very spacious.

The mans personal room was really big. It was so big that ten people could fit there and still have plenty of space to move around. When you walked across the floor your footsteps made an echo. The ceiling was very high and curved like an arch. It had gold patterns on it that sparkled when the light hit them. The room had a kind of magic in it. This magic was not loud or flashy. It was there, like a quiet pulse that you could feel beneath your feet. The magic felt warm and calm like a heart beating slowly.

The bed in the room was really big. It stood out. It had white sheets with gold edges that looked fancy. The sheets were so smooth. They looked really comfortable. This bed was large enough for three or four people to sleep in it without feeling crowded. There were a lot of pillows on the bed. They were all soft and squishy. They were not stacked up neatly. Rather in a nice messy way. The bed had velvet curtains hanging down from the carved wooden headboard. These curtains were folded in a way that made the room feel cozy. This room was not just fancy the fancy things in it were there for a reason. The bed and everything, around it was luxury that was meant to be used and enjoyed.

A dresser was against one wall. It looked really nice. The surface of the dresser was smooth and shiny. Next to the dresser was a mirror that showed the whole room. It made everything look calm and peaceful. There was a table for reading near the dresser. The table was neat and tidy. A special lamp was on the table. It had a soft blue light that was nice to look at. The light was steady and calm. It was like something that could help you relax. The bookshelves were, on another part of the wall. They were filled with a lot of books. The books were arranged nicely. Their covers looked interesting. The books seemed to be saying that they had a lot of knowledge to share and that you could learn a lot from them if you stayed up late reading them.

Across from them there was a window that looked out at the outside world. It had curtains that moved a little bit when the wind blew. You could hardly see the curtains move. It made the room feel alive. It was like the room was breathing with the person who was, in it. The window and the curtains made the room feel like it was connected to the world.

Gold and white these are the colors that he likes. You can see them on every surface. They are not flashy or trying to get your attention. Rather they are used in a subtle way with a lot of thought. Every single thing is put in its place carefully. The whole space looks really elegant. It is clear that everything was done on purpose, with gold and white being the main colors.

That thing felt really great. It was like something from a palace you know, royal and fancy. The thing had a special feel, to it like a king or queen would have. It felt grand. It felt regal.

A king’s room.

Leon breathed out slowly letting the news sink in. The air came out of his chest quietly like Leon had been holding his breath the whole time he was inside. Leon had been waiting to hear this for a time and now that he had he felt like he could finally breathe again. The air just seemed to leave Leons chest. He felt a little better.

He said to himself "This is bad." Alina really messed up this time.

The words came with a small funny smile. Part of him was happy part of him did not believe it.. This feeling did not stay for long. Something changed in his eyes when another thought came into his mind it was an unpleasant thought. The words still had an effect, on him the words made him feel this way.

Tonight I will be sleeping alone.. Maybe it will be tomorrow. It could be even longer than that. The thing is, I am sleeping alone again until Nova and the rest of them come back from the duchy. Nova and the rest are not here, with me now.

The thought settled in his chest like a pain. The room felt really big now it was like an empty space. There was not warmth in the room. Silence was around it felt heavy and it was watching him. The silence, in the room was uncomfortable it was like The Silence was waiting for something to happen. The room and The Silence were not making him feel good.

He rubbed his face with his hand his fingers touching his jaw. Then he let out a tired sound. The man was really tired so tired that he could not help but make this noise. He dragged a hand down his face again feeling the fatigue and his fingers grazed his jaw once more.

I am really upset because I forgot that part.

Not the absence. The weight of it.

The quiet did not calm him down. It actually felt like it was getting closer, to him. So he shook his head. He did this like he thought he could get rid of the feeling by moving his head. The quiet was still there it was still the quiet. It did not go away.

"Forget it. Bath first."

The man turned around. He pushed the door that was next, to him open.

The bathroom was really something. It was like walking into a dream. The walls were made of marble. They curved up in a pretty way. They were pale and elegant. The lights in the bathroom were nice and soft. They were stuck in the walls between the veins of the marble. The main thing in the bathroom was the bathtub. The bathtub was not a regular bathtub. The bathtub, in this bathroom was something amazing.

An artificial lake.

The pool was really big. It was inside the room. It went all the way across the floor. The water was so clear. It sparkled under a lot of soft lights that looked like magic. At one end of the pool there was a fountain that looked like a naga. It was curvy. It went up high. The fountain was made of stone. It poured warm water into the pool all the time. The sound of the water was very calm and nice to hear. The air smelled a bit like mint and it smelled like the air, in the mountains. It was fresh. It made me feel good.

The pool had glowing stones all around it. These stones gave off a brightness that was really nice to look at. It did not hurt your eyes all. The water in the pool felt warm, but not too warm. You could make the water warmer or cooler with a stone ring, on the side of the pool. All you had to do was turn the ring a bit with your hand to make the water the temperature you liked. The small glowing stones and the warm water made the pool feel like it had magic in it. The magic was easy to control with the stone ring.

The work, on this thing is really good. The craftsmanship is very fine you can tell someone put a lot of time into making it. The craftsmanship is what makes it stand out.

Leon let out a laugh that had no air in it. He said "This is really silly. It is nice to look at. It is silly."

The man did not hesitate.

The shirt came off first the boots and finally the trousers. They all came off one after the other quietly and were folded and set aside on a bench that was close by. The cool air touched his skin. He felt a little shiver.. His muscles still felt warm. He moved his body with a lot of confidence. His shoulders were big. They moved easily. His chest was strong. It went up and down as he breathed. You could see the strength in his body as he took a step forward. His body was, like that. Strong and confident.. That is what you saw when he moved. The shirt, boots and trousers were all. Set aside now and he was just standing there.

The moment his feet touched the water the water started to move and little waves went across the top. The special stones under the water made the waves shine a bit. He walked into the water slowly feeling the warm water go up his legs then up to his waist then up to his chest until the water was all around him like a big hug, from the water itself the water.

He turned the stone dial a bit and that changed the temperature. The temperature was now just right because he made it a bit cooler. He got it how he wanted it to be.

Not too hot.

Not too cold.

Just enough to relax without drowning him in steam.

He breathed out slowly as he sat down deeper in the bath. The water went around his body like it was giving him a hug. His eyes closed. For a while nobody wanted anything from him. The pain in his shoulders started to feel better. The tight feeling, in his back went away. The heavy feeling he had been carrying around just disappeared into the water.

Time does not feel like it is passing normally anymore. Time seems to be mixed up. The way we see time is not the same as it used to be. Time is weird now.

Time went by. It could have been a few minutes or even longer. Minutes. It felt like it was taking forever. Maybe more time had passed than I actually thought.

The world, outside just faded away.

The water was still running down his body falling from his chest and sliding over his stomach muscles and then dripping down from his waist. He stopped for a short moment feeling the warmth of the water, on his skin before he got a towel. He took the towel from the rack. Put it around his hips tying it pretty low.

Only that.

The mans upper body was completely uncovered. You could see that he had a toned and defined body and his skin was still a red from his bath. The light hit the drops of water on his skin and made them shine softly on his shoulders and back. His hair was damp. Fell against the back of his neck. It was dark and heavy, with water like it was still holding onto the warmth.

He stepped out of the bathroom. The bathroom was still steamy from his shower. He had been in the bathroom for a long time. The bathroom was a place where he could be alone with his thoughts. He walked away, from the bathroom feeling a little refreshed. The bathroom door creaked as it swung back into place.

Leon was drying his hair slowly with a towel hanging loose around his neck. The last drops of water were rolling down his body. His skin was still all misty from the steam. Leon was moving slowly not thinking about anything. He had a way of moving like someone who thought they were all by themselves at least, for a little while longer. Leon just kept moving like that thinking he was alone.

Then—

Knock. Knock.

His body just stopped moving. His body was totally still now.

Leons head tilted a little to the side. He was trying to listen closely. It was like he thought that if he listened enough he would hear something that nobody else could hear. Leons breath stopped halfway, to his lungs.

There were two knocks at the door. These knocks were softer than the others. They were knocks. The thing about these knocks was that they were impossible to ignore. The knocks, at the door were really impossible to ignore.

Someone was there.

The air in the room changed it did not feel scary. It felt tense and sharp. There was a lot of expectation in the room. People were very curious. You could feel that quiet and exciting feeling that something big was going to happen. It was like someone was not just knocking on the door the air in the room felt like a door was about to open. Something new was going to be revealed. The air, in the room was full of expectation and curiosity. It felt like the door was really going to open.

Leon slowly lowered the towel from his hair. He was moving slowly. The towel was covering his hair and Leon was taking his time to lower it.

"Who...?" he murmured, barely louder than a thought.
